David2074 So now supposedly Dolphinmania is being disabled on Friday and according to rumor mill Gaia plans to keep nerfing booty grab until it is more or less undesirable to play. At this point I'm just hoarding gold and taking a wait and see attitude. I'm done purchasing Gaia Cash until Gaia stops treating its customers as disposable. And for those so inclined please spare me the sermon about Gaia is allowed to do what they want and so on. My thoughts on all that regarding communication are in my communication thread currently in my signature. That really sucks. Do you know this (about Dolphinmania) for sure? Or from a very reliable source?

Or from a very reliable source? From me it is hearsay but I consider it reliable. The part about DM shutting down on Friday is being widely discussed in SF. The part about Gaian planning to nerf BG in general is also in SF but less is being said about it. I consider the source reliable enough I expect it to happen but I don't know yet how Gaia will implement it. I wish there was some info on how they are planning to nerf it. I finally gathered enough fish and the very same day there was your announcement with the link to the dev's journal that also mentioned this. Now I'm drawn back and forth whether to put the fish in the tank or rather just resell them. It took so long to get them (not to mention I had to file tickets for about a third of them to get them replaced) and now I wonder whether I will be able to at least break even at all. I wonder whether I just wasted a lot of my time (since I bought them with gold not cash, none of those I have are currently sold in the shop). On the other hand, if they only nerf the "top tier" fish, my fish might actually become more attractive for people to play again ... I can't really make up my mind about this right now. =/ I'd love to know more about this and other people's opinions and/or speculations.

Because I am traveling my internet has been spotty and I have not been tracking my tank gold. One or two folks have told me their tank gold is way down since Dolphinmania closed. The affect of DM on a particular tank would depend on how many BG threads that tank is posted in. My main tanks are posted in over 260 Booty Grab threads so the affect of DM is less. Okay, now on to pure SPECULATION on my part - not based on any proof. The closing of DM was delayed from FRI to Monday. There is no obvious reason for delaying that. It is easy to pull the plug on a web site or disable a link. My guess is Gaia is also doing some nerfing at the same time and was coordinating the nerfs with the DM closure. Such an action would help hide the nerfs. DM closes, tank gold goes down, everyone blames it on the closure of DM. (I also note a less 'conspiracy theory' based explanation could be the person who needed to make the change was out of town or something. smile ) I have not had time to play a lot of booty grab lately but my casual observation is there appears to be an increased probability of getting power downs and decreased probability of getting power ups. Tweaking these factors could cause a significant change in total gold paid out without nerfing the official fish stats. It is also harder to see because the power up/down stuff is kind of random. Sometimes you get a good set, a bad set or a pretty evenly mixed set. I don't know where (if anywhere) you can go to see the odds of getting a power up/down like you can for fish stats and drops in analyzer. I do not expect Gaia to do much if any more tweaking of existing fish stats. They can accomplish what ever degree of nerfing booty grab they want without doing this. They say they are fixing ghost fish and freezer glitches. This is a good thing in my opinion. That will cause dolphins and such to die out in a reasonable time. They can (and apparently are) nerfing the BG game. They have removed dolphins from Phin Phang and do not appear to be in any hurry to release a new high gold fish. These things together will make a significant dent in the amount of booty grab gold being given out - especially over the next few months as dolphins and a few rarer high gold fish die out. I welcome input from anyone who has done their homework and can give me hard data on tank gold / booty grab stats. Casual observations / opinions are welcome too. smile

I track my gold every 24 hours and run a total of my three tanks for the week every Sunday morning, so on Sunday I'll post the stats here on how much the week's take was the entire week before DMv2 closed and how much I made the week after it closed. But I think you're right and that the difference will be a combination of DMv2 closing and Gaia nerfing.

As promised above, here are the stats I got from tracking my tanks profits that compare the last week DMv2 was open to this past week when it wasn't. Its a total of three tanks: two full Dolphin tanks and one full Mini Monster tank:
Dolphin Mania Open: 2,577,474 Gold
Dolphin Mania Closed: 1,423,462
Which means I made 1,154,012 less. At least my profit in Gold wasn't cut to less than half.
I'm not too unhappy. I thought it would be much worse! Of course if I didn't have my tanks posted on so many Booty Grab Threads it would have been.

Also, anyone else out there who WAS NOT on DM checking stats? As in - anyone seeing a dip in tank gold where you know DM was not part of the equation.

People are telling me that my tank is glowing, but when they click on it, it won't load and they can't play.
I think this is been going on for a while because I have had no posts in my glowing thread for days and my gold has not increased a bit.
What is going on and what can I do about it?
