--It's strange to sometimes recall the memories you keep. You realize how much you miss, and how peculiar the things you've kept are. I often detest looking back because the more I do the more I appear to deny myself. But one can do little save for this. And so I live on, with the memory.--

"Ciel" His name was called for the hundredth time that day, but he didn't protest as he sat himself up from the couch he was seated to quickly make his way to his sister's room, even though he was on the borders of exasperation inside. This had been going on for the second day in a row and it was driving him insane. This wasn't usual either seeing how he normally wouldn't mind. Yet, this once, this whole situation had made him feel as if he was suffocating.
"Ciiiiiel~" his sister's voice called out again, impatient as always.
"I'm coming Alexis; it's not yet time for your medication, you know." he replied as he entered the dimly lit room to check on her.

"I'm bored, Ciel~" she whined. "Why don't you stay with me longer?"
He sighed, crossing one hand through his hair in an attempt to keep his cool. "Well, I was taking care of cooking and studying. Why don't you call a friend of yours to keep you company?" he questioned, sitting in a corner of the bed. He almost immediately felt his sister's feet poking at his leg and side in a playful manner.
"Clarissa's sick and Suzie is probably with Amy; and you know I don't speak to her, she's so annoying! And even if I were to call them they'd probably be out doing something more interesting than running a fever and rotting in a bed all day." she said, pouting her lips and pulling the covers over her head to show she wasn't interested.
"Hey, I know!" she exclaimed before Ciel had a chance to speak. "How about you call some of your friends over? That would be fun!"

Friends? Ciel sighed and dropped his head. He didn't really have any close friends that he would invite over save for one, but he didn't really feel like calling her over. His sister and coach would surely form a team and torture him. And then... there was Glen but he was too insecure to try giving him a call. Although they've been spending time together as of lately, the other was still terribly intimidating in his mind.
He peered over at Alexis. "H-How about not?" he stuttered, head bent low to hide his embarrassment. "I... I really feel tired, is all. Maybe we should do that tomorrow." he mumbled.
"Booooooriiiiiiiing." Alexis protested, pulling her covers back down to glance over at him with an expression that clearly read 'seriously, are you an old man or what?' plastered all over her face. Ciel found himself blushing again. This was preposterous!
"I... I'll tell you what!" he exclaimed. "How about I go rent some movie after I finish cooking your soup? Then... we could watch it together when I come back... or something." he trailed off.
"Eh? Movie? But you never pick anything good! All you ever bring home is 'classy' stuff that somehow always manage to get pretty boring pretty soon. I mean, there's never any quality action in them! Where's Harry Potter? Lord of the Rings? Transformers??" she exclaimed, rolling over in her bed to look at him underneath locks of auburn hair.
Bad idea. he thought to himself. Very bad.
"I'll try not to fail as much...?" he replied in a questioning manner.
"You better!" Alexis laughed, sitting up only to plop back down on the bed. Ciel smiled. She was such a handful, most of the time, yet she was still his sister and he couldn't but want to look after her all the time. Was that bad? In his opinion, not so much.

He sat up again and made a run for the door.
"Where are you going??" Alexis shouted after him.
"SOUP!" was the one word he replied as he hurried to the kitchen. With this and that he had completely forgotten to check on the food and it was so unlike him to neglect his cooking. Well, it couldn't be too bad, judging by the clock hanging on the kitchen's wall. He just let it boil for slightly longer than needed. Hopefully it was still pretty salvageable.
Taking a hold of the wooden spoon he always used and the remaining seasonings he proceeded to quickly stir the mix up before removing the pot from the heat to let it cool a little. He dashed on the opposite corner of the room to take out a pair of plates and a spoon and laid them out on the table for his sister to serve herself when she'd get hungry.
A plan of escape had slowly started to take shape in his head as he thought of the movie he'd go to rent. How bad would it be if he took a detour before returning home? Nobody could blame him, after all. He was kept inside for two days in a row, after all. And it wasn't like he was neglecting his duties or his sister or anything... more like... he had to or else his head was going to explode from all the pressure.

Putting on his shoes and taking nothing but his cellphone and some money he ran to the door. "Food is ready, Alexis! You can serve yourself whenever you'd like to eat." he called out. "I'm going to rent that movie now. I might be a little late." he spoke before exiting the house.
"HEY! ARE YOU RUNNING AWAY?" he heard her shout all the way from her room as he was closing the door behind him. The answer to that would be yes, and even though he had already agreed with himself in it being a rightful and appropriate measure he was already feeling guilty about it.
