I was born a Catholic. To me, I believe in God not just because I have to, but because He is the Almighty and the creator of all living things. My religion gives me a sense of well being and security and a hope to cling on to in this tough world.

I'm like the other Atheist, I think it's useless to pay heed or admire any supposed omnipotent being(s). Am I supposed to belive that some pink too too wearing self rightous Being(s) just woke up one day and said to themselves " You know what, I think I'll create some humans today with my Magic wand so I can have someone to play WOW with". I mean really creationism is flawed. I don't know why we're here and I don't really care either all I know is that some people need to think they are special and that these being(s) will show them favor after they die or they need a reason for everything. I don't need either of those because I lead a good life and I'm a good person. I'm not out to tell anyone else that they are wrong but the question was why do I think what I do, so there you go.

Maybe you should try thinking of Him like you would a parent? ... I get the feeling this user isn't serious or is being sarcastic. But hey there's some people that are religious for this reason. I got that feeling too ninja I didn't get that feeling. Mainly because of the last sentence.

And besides, God might be a ballerina. Or a wizard. Or a flying spaghetti monster. I'm not mocking Him.
My point is that nobody can say with absolute certainty what He/She/It/They is or wants, can they?

If someone made fun of my belief system, I wouldn't just tell them to shut up. I'd either ignore it (if it was really stupid), or explain why they are wrong.

She's just making fun. Plus I didn't say anything to Vadasz, but to Shiori because she makes fun a lot. And satan happens to be the Christian devil, and most creationists happen to be Christian. So if I were to, for example, defend my sister against someone calling her an idiot, would that mean I'm not confident she's smart? And do I really have to confont all mockery with complete explanations as to what about the mockery is wrong, or can't I save myself the time and energy and just ask them to stop?

EternallyBlue made it clear where she was coming from, and I can understand that. My family is a tight knit group, if you disrespect any one of them then I'm going to at the very least have some words with you. As a Christian (and Eternally can correct me if I'm wrong here) EB probably has that personal relationship with God, he is a member of the family so to speak so why shouldn't she get offended if he is mocked and how does it mean her faith isn't strong when she stands up for him?
