Are you a vegetarian?
Yes, eating meat is ethically wrong
Yes, but not for ethical reasons
No, but I make sure to only ever eat meat from animals I know were treated well. Eating animals is okay, abusing them is not.
No. I think eating meat is probably wrong but damn it's so yummy...
No, and I don't think there's anything wrong with eating meat

What are your religions' views on eating meat? Are you a vegetarian and, if so, is it for ethical reasons? Some other questions include...

1. Is it morally wrong to kill animals for the purpose of eating them?
2. Are some animals acceptable to eat? Are others not?
3. Does the belief that animals have souls or do not have souls influence your views on meat eating?
4. Does your view on this subject contradict with your religious views or adhere to them?
5. Which religions prohibit eating meat, which allow it, and which make no mention of it?

Any non-human meat is fine to eat. I'm a vegetarian and it's partly for ethical reasons and partly because I never really liked it too much to begin with.

1. Not according to my religion.
2. All are fine (accept for that whole cannibalism thing but I don't have to point that out right?)
3. No.
4. My beliefs are tentatively in line with the Church.
5. Not something that I've looked into.

I don't find killing animals for food wrong if they are domisticated animals that are raised for it.
What I find wrong is hunting animals that live in wild nature, or even endangered species. I don't know why people are so greedy that they think they must try eating every species that lives on the earth >_<

I personally don't like most of meat though. I like chicken and tolerate a few other kinds if I have to eat them, but I don't eat more than 1-2 meals with meat per week.

I've been vegetarian for over 11 years now. When I first started it wasn't all that sophisticated, I was just a 4th grader and I didn't really have a very mature perspective over it. But something felt wrong to me about eating an animal that has died. I could only think how it used to be alive, and walk around and do whatever it did, and then someone killed it, and now I'm eating it, though it used to be alive just like I am. I had some idea that I wouldn't want to be eaten when I'm dead because it seemed pretty unrespectful to me. X P

Now it's a bit more complicated I guess. I believe we need to avoid harming conscious beings and our surroundings as much as we can, just as long as we're not causing ourselves damage by doing so. It's an ideal to aspire to. I can sustain myself without eating animals. I'm healthy and no harm is done to anyone, so this is why I choose to stick to it. The way animals are treated in farms is extremely troubling to me. I grew up in the country, so you could say I was supposed to get used to seeing animals cramped up like this, but I didn't. That just can't be right in my view.

LordTalisEraphen
but i do strongly advise against pork xp
.

Seconded. Pork is such a dirty meat.

Any ways...I eat meat. I don't see any thing wrong with doing so. I don't do it for religious reasons. I avoid eating red meats (like beef) as much as possible. I believe animals have spirits, but that doesn't stop me from eating them. I don't advocate killing animals for sport though. If some one is going to kill the animal they better use all the parts to it in some fashion

I am not a vegetarian. I have immense respect for vegetarians, though.

1.) It's just fine.
2.)Uh, Kashrut? Duh.
3.)No influence. Animals do have souls, but they may be killed for food.
4.) Huh?

By the fourth question, I just meant do your personal views on eating meat and your religious views coincide. For example, I know some Buddhists who agree that killing animals for food goes against Buddhism, but they eat mean anyway, so their personal views and religious views are not the same.

Well yes, then, they coincide.

The only reason I'm not a vegetarian is because I don't have the willpower to resist it. It says in the bible we're allowed to eat meat so I don't find the act of it wrong. But I do believe they have souls/spirits. If I did have the self control I would go veg but that's only because I love animals and think they're being bred, raised, and killed inhumanely. But I don't think there's a right or wrong animal to eat. Unless it's human. Though it sounds tempting.

1. Is it morally wrong to kill animals for the purpose of eating them?
No, it is part of a natural cycle. We probably don't need to consume as much meat or slaughter as many animals as we do at present, but in moderation I have no objections to it.

2. Are some animals acceptable to eat? Are others not? I have no objection to the consumption of any animal. For me personally I eat mostly the traditional animals, chicken, cow, pig, deer, turkey. I won't eat things I would keep as pets.

3. Does the belief that animals have souls or do not have souls influence your views on meat eating? I believe they have souls, however I also believe that those souls knew when they incarnated into that body that they may become someones meal. I also believe that it will incarnate again. It is my belief that we are here to experience what is to live as whatever we happen to incarnate as that round. If part of that is to end up being killed to feed something else, that is simply part of the experience. When I eat I thank the animal for it's sacrifice so that my family and I may live on and be strengthened by their former shell.

4. Does your view on this subject contradict with your religious views or adhere to them? It adheres to them.

5. Which religions prohibit eating meat, which allow it, and which make no mention of it? I think some sects of Buddhism prohibit meat consumption, most allow it, though some like Judaism, and Hinduism restrict it as to when, which parts and what animals. In Catholicism it is restricted during Lent.

I like meat. I try not to eat seafood as much. If we keep on eating certain things in our waters that clean them then we won't have them an longer. Tjey clean our waters naturally the least we could do is treat them better. I like the sustainable fish and seafood.

i'm now getting made fun of because i'm the last girl in my family that eats meat. i guess my mom and sisters all do it for ethical reasons (animals have souls too, so we shouldn't eat them). i'm not really a carnivore or anything, and i don't scarf down tons of it, but i eat it on occasion. i've gotten talks about how god intended for us to eat animals and they're a lower life form than us. i don't necessarily think that, but sometimes, you can't really help it.

1. Nope. In fact, in Ancient Egypt live animals were sacrificed, offered, then eaten.

2. Eating not so much, but you can't offer fish (with maybe the exception of one goddess) or pork...unless you're a priest/ess. But from what I've read it's mostly for ritual prep.

3. While I personally (not necessarily due to religious views) believe animals have a soul, it allows me to treat the food with more reverence. Since I'm hypoglycemic the exchange of life is that more important for me.

4. My religions doesn't say anything about what I can or can't eat.

5. I'm not sure about the relevancy of this question, but I'm sure others will answer this question based on the previous ones.

I don't believe it's wrong to eat meat. I don't agree with some of the stock farming that goes on (go to Nebraska sometime) Theress some mistreatment there. And as a country I believe we consme too much meat but that's largly an environmental issue. However, I do eat meat. I thank the thank the animal that died to provide my meal bt I still eat it.
Most of the read meat I eat is venison from my dad's property. No sport hunting goes on there. The friend that does most of the hunting has a very low income and actually relies on what he can hunt and fish and grow to provide himself with food for most of the year. And there is no depletion of population going on here. On this property one only hunts what is plentiful, and the deer around here are actually a bit overpopulated.

All that being said, there are not restrictions on what one can or cannot eat in my religion. It's pretty much up to your own discretion.

Have any of you ever watched the show Mythbusters? n there they proved that plants have feelings too... Now I ask you, is it fair to hunt down and eat the thing that can actually get away if it is smart enough or wanted to or to catch the thing that is physically unable to move?

From the above statement you can probably all figure out that I am a meat lover. I beleive that both plants and animals have souls and that it is ok to hunt down and eat other animals... Many predators do and they aren't sinful and wrong.... I don't beleive in hunting for sport and I don't beleive in waste. Therefore i also have no problem with the wearing of fur (though I do have a problem with all the waste that comes from hunting animals for only one or the other) I don't think I like the eating of any domesticated animals because if you think about it cows used to be nimble and quick like deer, then they became domesticated and got fat, slow, and lazy. We have destroyed them as a species. I also beleive overpopulation of deer was mentioned earlier. We are needed to help keep the populations of animals down if there are not enough predators in the area to do so. If we don't they eat all of the plants which die out and then they starve to death as a whole. Thats why there are predators in the first place.

My religion has no views on eating meat. No I'm not a vegetarian. I don't believe in a universal morality but my psyche says no. In my opinion anything that's poisonous isn't very acceptable to eat. Unless your trying to kill yourself of course then it's all fine. No the presence of souls within a living animal does not effect my views on eating dead animals. I already stated my religion has no views on it. Mine makes no mention of it, that's enough knowledge for me on the subject.

I would encourage the entire world to be cannibals if only for the amount of starvation that is currently occurring.
