While I can't make amends for the money you spent or the anger you're feeling, I wouldn't go as far as to say the event is meaningless.
A lot of things are going to remain changed because of this event. Bruce's partner in sports announcements is going to be affected, and our aquariums might not be getting the resident clam back any time soon. Gino's probably never going to live this down, and Jack is now Public Enemy Number One.
A lot of things can be taken from this event now. More than what could've been taken if one side had gotten rid of the other. I agree that the ending could've been better, even if they'd kept the stalemate ending. I agree that they could've gone a bit lighter on the "HAHA EVERYONE FAILS" ending. But at least we have something to go on now, rather than waiting a full year for an ending that was whipped up just as fast as the current one, which would look similar or worse than the one we have, possibly even incomplete in general.

The only reason I regret buying the cash shop bundle is because I know that I helped gaia make MONEY off this mockery. I bought it partially because I wanted the items, but partially to say thanks. Thanks for making an event that got me into Gaia again. But now there's not much to thank them for, is there?
I like the items themselves. The character designs are great... the clothes are cool... there was potential.
And they WASTED IT.
Seriously, does anyone care about the sports announcer guys? They weren't even funny.
I pretty much don't use aquariums, since I never get fish from the DC anymore. And does it really matter if there's a statue instead of a clam there?
Gino was already a sad-sack, and personally, I'm pretty tired of it. I remember back in the day when he wasn't a complete and total loser--just a kid who had to deal with having a lunatic like Gambino for a father.
As far as Jack being public enemy number one... yeah, for US maybe. There's no way that's going to carry on to any other plotlines.
I really don't think we have anything to go on. The ending was pretty much just a flat-out retcon of the entire event. The most we can hope for is that Sentinel and Overseer become regular characters, but even that's pushing it.
The fact is, they sold us this event like it was something epic... and then they made fun of us for believing it.
