He-he. The Saxophone thing made me giggle. I understand we're usually perverted. Or at least I am. I'm not in high school yet, but from what I've seen they are still clowns as you described them. And yeah, I'm one of those honor students in Jazz band and other stuff.

Most of us in our trumpet section are quiet. The only one that is really loud is our section leader.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. ^^ And about the mello/flugle/bass clarinet/low wood wind's we really didn't have enough in our band to make an accurate stereotype. ^^; Sorry to all you mello/flugle/bass clarinet/low wood wind players. P.S. French horn is not a marching instrument...or at least it isn't in my band. They all just play flugle horn. BTW, I play trombone in jazz and concert band. But during marching I'm in the drum line as bass 2. Next year I might be a drum major though...I guess I should have made a category for them.

So what happens if you're a trumpet AND a color guard member? I've won every drill down this year.
But yes, I admit, trumpets ARE the best. Call it "false" and whatnot if you must, for you are only jelous. wink <33333

what what said: The flag team is an entirely different sector of the band. They have almost no contact with the band other than rehearsals. The color guard is almost always exclusively female, but hey sometimes have male members. Due to their usual...not-good-ness...they are not liked by the band. Color guard is usually a very charismatic and poppy part of band, but they are also very difficult to train as there aren't very many prerequisites to color guard. They are generally just starting and aren't very syncopated, which is why college color guards are way better. Also, a color guard is usually only as good as it's coach/captain, much like the drum line. They are almost always horrific marchers too. But that is normal because of the fact that they have to do flag and baton movements with their hands while marching.
what ive noticed: at my school, our colorguard was a visual ensemble, we had (originally) 3 sects. each one had its own reputation. all were pretty good with their specialty, as we taught each other and everyone had to try out for where they wanted to be. once try outs vanished tho, we sucked.
and it also depends on how much they LIKE the coach. hate um and nothing gets done...

Flutes= preppy Clarinets= random loaners Saxs= more random people Trombone= silly Baritones=ignored (no one listens to them) Tubas= the hardest workers Mellos=nice people Trumpets=lazy Pit=smart people Drummline= dumb people Colorguard=almost as hard working as the tubas but we dont run to our spots
This is just for my band. There's more to it im just to lazy to type it all XD
And for all of whom think guard doesnt want to be part of the band cuz we're always seperate you're wrong. We really want to its just hard cuz band directors and guard instructors keep us seperated. P.S. WE HAVE 2 GUYS ON OUR GUARD!!! Ones a really good at weapon but not flag or dance. and the other is good at dance and flag and kinda weapon and he can do the splits and heel stretch!

LOW BRASS: Low brass is a very interesting section. They are usually the least charismatic about the band, and care more about their individual gain and improvement as musicians. They are typically not good leaders but are usually astounding musicians. Due to their lack of motivation, they are looked down upon by the other more enthused sections. But really, they could care less. Their music is not generally very hard and is very typical of bass music. This means less practicing and more other stuff during their free time and sectionals. This also may be the reason why they don't ever sound together when they play as a whole. Low brass is usually under the assumption that the music doesn't need to be practiced because it's just quarter notes, so they either loligag around or practice on other more important stuff. Note: Trombones have a very high concentration of musical genius. Although all of the above usually apply to them, they typically care more about the music than normal low brass.
My favorite part "due to their lack of motivation," Our director mentioned parade and I got out my sousa and reclined in a rolley chair
Our low brass are our strongest section and are always in competition to be loudest over the saxes. It's funny because all the go of our band are in the saxes rather than trumpets XD

I know this was just what you think but I'd like to put something straight about the pit. 1. It's not that we are not good it's that we can't play most of our parts until the band can. Our parts are undertones with your's so it's not our fault it's yours. 2. True, we can't march. But then again neither can most of the band. A pit player made it to the finals during band camp last year. 3. Pit players are not people who couldn't hack it as 'real' players. I spent 2 years as a marcher and found that pit presented more of a challenge to me. Our drum major this year defended the pit and told the entire band that she thought our music was harder than anyone else's in the band. It is unkind to judge any other section in the band unless you have been a part of it. I understand that you even insulted your own section but it's so easy to do that because we know our own faults. I simply ask that you truly learn about a section before you judge them.

I dont think you can stick the tuba's with the rest of the low brass, we should have our own stereotype.

The clarinet stereotype wasn't right, yes we are very cheerful, have a lot of clarinet players, and usually memorize the music before the rest, but that's because we love band. We are very musical, and NO I'm not trying to be rude, nor mean, I was just going to tell you we weren't, but I'm a clarinet play that didn't change instruments because the clarinet fit me, and my personality. But I TOTALLY agree with the trumpet part.

That's pretty much my band, except add the overall caveat that at least half of the people there don't or can't play, and then that's us. Our trumpets are loud and obnoxious, our saxes think they're the funniest creature in existence, our percussion section is full of guys who constantly make sex jokes.
And I have another stereotype to add: all male flautists are gay. I hate that one, 'cause I know plenty of male flautists who are straight. We don't have any in our band, though, but props to all the male flautists out there! ^_^

our band: flutes: chatty. clarinets: overachievers. saxophones: xD they all vary. low brass: blend in/ very quiet. trumpets/ mellos: suck a**. (losers who are not working to their ability.) drumline: amazing except for one kid who is just annoying. no pit. colorgaurd: small. but working their way up. and for the added low winds: 2 are pot heads. and one is pretty cool.
biggrin

Some of those are good, and some are wrong.
Here's some corrections.
No offense, but in all the band's I've been in, the flutes have ALWAYS been CONSISTENTLY the section that skips and doesn't care.
Saxophones... this one is weird. Okay. So most of the people who chose sax are those annoying, loud, popular guys. They proceed to suck, and eventually quit. But after the first year of the new band, the sax section is the best section, and everyone is the quiet/smart/nice......emo(sometimes) type, think Lisa Simpson. smile
The other ones are fine I guess.
