Oh I feel you situation right to the core of my bones. Always the nice guy friend, never the boyfriend. They say you have to be friends with a girl for a long time, to one day date, but that's BS, since she meets a guy for a split second and ends up dating that guy, vs. you whom she has known for quite some time.

I knew this guy, who liked his best friend (a girl), he told me this story: One day at lunch, he decided to tell his bff, he liked liked her, but he did it first as a little message under her seat of the table. She would sit everyday, find the message, and fall in love with what it said. Each day she would talk to him about who it could be, this jock guy here, or that preppy there, never crossed her mind it was him. So finally the day came, his last message said he would meet her tomorrow, this girl was completely infatuated with whoever this guy was, based on what he wrote to her. She was head over heels, could not wait. Well about 10 mins till lunch ended, she exclaimed where this guy was, it was cruel for him to stand her up and whatnot. This guy, turns to her, and pulls out a single rose, and tells her it was him the entire time. She hit him with the "all I see you as, is a friend" bit, dude was crushed. From head over heels to let's stay friends, just based on what he looks like.

Now it doesn't happen to everyone, sometimes the friend does become the boyfriend, but most likely it's the fit, in shape, popular guy friends, who end up dating the girl, and not the out of shape, nice guy, who is completely loyal and dependable guy. Story end for that guy, was he ended up turning to the arm of his fellow man. I hear he is quite happy now.


I've had the bff who I liked and ended up not seeing me that way, while she dated every guy I knew, that was just like me, but not me.

Currently, I'm into a girl who hates to be called "pretty" and any fashion of that, hates to be touched by friends and family alike, is scared of guys, but is straight and loves yaoi, dresses like a boy, and avoids any questions pertaining any possibility to dating. I've been trying to befriend her and such for 2 years now, it's been off and on with the lowest level of friendship possible, and some how I say something that pisses her off and she ends up not wanting to talk to me again. And yet...I keep trying with this girl, and I have no idea why, since I'm not attracted to her physically.

I married my best friend so screw of you xp Just goes to show that women can't expect a man to be a friend JUST to be a friend. Two things I wanted to point out here, there is a difference between dating and gf/bf. From personal experience, if the girl was head over heals over you she would've dated you. Also why why WHY are you allowing yourself to be the backup man? You must not think much of yourself if you're willing to be her second choice.
