I was trying to capture her Primmadonna, Drama Queen personality. I hope you like it!
On a side note: one Phantom lover to another. Do you prefer Webber's or the Yeston/Kopin version better?
Personally, I really, really like the Kopit/Yeston version. Though, admittedly, it took me
forever to get my paws on a copy of the miniseries. I had come across a script for the Kopit/Yeston version in a theatre store and by the time I finished reading through it I was tearing E-bay apart trying to find it.
Actually, that DVD inspired me to start singing again. I hadn't begun taking voice lessons until after I watched the DVD. I was so taken with the short bits of Faust they showed that I just couldn't
not want to go ahead and try to sing them.
heart Over all, the Kopit/Yeston musical is more singable, too, since it doesn't require the same crazy range Webber demands of his sopranos. (Low G to E above soprano C?! And in ONE SONG no less!) But, individual songs in Webber's are A LOT more singable than certain songs in the Kopit/Yeston version, because Webber tends to bring the soprano up to the high note and then have her come down pretty quickly after that, whereas the Kopit/Yeston version goes up high and just stays there.
I was trying to sing "You Are Music", and in the beginning it's okay. It's fun. But, then you get to the, "Oh you are music, moonbeams of music" and it's ALL on a high B. I can hit a high B, but I can't stay there for half a song.
I love them both, though. I just like certain aspects of the Kopit/Yeston plot better. And Charles Dance was quite charming in that role.
