Hey there zOMGaians!
Rings and monster attacks are changing *significantly* in the near future. We're trying out all sorts of new ideas, including (but definitely NOT limited to the following list):
- As you charge up Rage Ranks, your ring effects change. Bigger AoEs, new abilities added on, etc. All the rings are changed significantly. Do *not* expect the current balance situation to be true. (But don't forget the "SWAP" feature so you try out different rings easily!)
- Monsters are smarter now and they do crafty little things now. Some of them heal each other, others use Fear on you, a number of them have stat debuffing abilities, etc.
- The armor system is rewritten. There are many useful armor rings now, not just Rock Armor and their impact is different. (Details forthcoming as we get closer to update time.)
This is just a sample of what's coming. Full details of all the changes will be posted before we update so you can be prepared for the changes, but I wanted to give you a nice and early "heads-up" about it.

I have noticed the ring effects in play already, and ring polishers/buffers help you a lot more now in battle.

I have to say.. I am somewhat STUNNED at this update. I mean it's just so comprehensive! It's huge!!
On another note, I HATE the daily chance giving out made items, it's made recipes and ingredients even MORE worthless!

(Copied from my post in Qix's thread) Wow, I'm kind of amazed at the wide scope of the changes! This should spice things up a lot! After the last few changes I was very disappointed with the crowd control rings, so I hope this will help with the balancing. I'm also hoping Teflon will actually be a useful ring again! I LOVE that there will be unusual rage effects. This will make it somewhat more of a challenge to figure out new tactics and for new people to really learn the game. But it should really make things fun! Ring sets: I think they look far more balanced now! But...they make less sense.. teflon spray not in the chef set? Divinity not in angelic? Maybe some of the sets/rings just need to be renamed. I LIKE the explanation of armor pool verses persistant armor! I do want to take the chance to say how much I do NOT LIKE the made items being given out in the daily chance! Why not give out recipes and loot or something. By giving out made items it has made the gold costs of making items almost always higher than the market value of an item. Or, perhaps, reduce the gold cost of making items. Now the few recipes and ingredients that had value are rapidly becoming utterly worthless. Lastly, I want to comment on the Shallow Sea... I like that it's been spiced up, but I hate that it's not only even LONGER than before, but you can't add people in after you get to the robofish??? Back, when I actually DID Endboss people would get disconnected, or need to reboot often! Now we can't even add them back in, or add someone new to help out if a few of the crew has to go? I wouldn't mind making the sea longer and now allowing new people if you'd make a null point that can be unlocked somewhere around the robofish, so people who want to do Endboss could get in and get it done in less than 4 hours after they'd done the first half at least once.

Ah, I haven't been in zOMG for such a long time. TwT
Darn University and art auctions...
But does the ring update to Mantis mean it doesn't do as much damage? That scares me a bit - it's my most powerful ring @ 9.0CL... The rest of my rings are 5.0 - 6.0... I did the not-so-smart thing with an unbalanced ring set...
But the Persistent Armour for the Pirate set sounds awesome - it makes a lot more sense for the Medic set to have increased footspeed, too. XD
