She is known all over the country more than you two.She makes songs for charity and does a show for children.Well maybe you hate her cause your not a child.
I hate her because I'm a classically trained singer who may very well end up as a music teacher in the future. Given I'm considering a career in music education
and the fact that I have spent almost three years being trained to sing opera and other forms of classical music, I have grown to understand vocal technique and how the voice works.
I've watched Miley sing. She breathes to her chest. As far as proper vocal technique goes, this is incorrect. When taking a proper, vocal breath, the chest and shoulders should not move. Rather, the stomach should expand. If Miley can't grasp even that most basic concept she shouldn't be singing.
She loses her ending consonants. A big "no-no". Enunciation is extremely important.
Her tone is stretched and nasally. By my teacher's standards (and therefore by my standards), unacceptable. Even in pop, there is no excuse for nasally singing. In my field, there is no excuse for a stretched tone, either. A nice, rounded tone is expected.
The microphone? Where would Miley be without it? Nowhere. She needs big, powerful amplifiers for her voice to carry. Not good. It may interest you to know that if you were to go to the Metropolitan Opera
none of the singers have microphones, and yet they can still be heard over a full orchestra in the back of the theatre. Because there's this thing called projection that a singer should be able to understand. When I perform at my vocal teacher's concerts, I never have a microphone and the people in the back of the room can still hear me. Again, power and projection are expected.
That is why I don't like her from the standpoint of a classically trained singer. Because she clearly lacks the skill required of those pursuing careers in my field.
From the standpoint of a possible vocal coach, I dislike her because she is a poor role model for future singers and advocates poor technique. I don't want to see children running around with nodes and other disorders because they tried to imitate Miley and engaged in potentially vocally unsafe practices.
