"Alright." Ethe shrugged, "I guess I've got plenty of my own chemical compositions for later anyways." Ethe wasn't dumb, but she like most drow females had the inclination that they should be able to get most things for free.

Ethe smiled at the healer, "It doesn't matter how you feel about it, but helping me will be in your best interest. Don't worry. I doubt you will have to do anything too risky. Though we will have to figure out exactly what you can do to help.." The teacher waved her hand to dismiss Im'rahi so she could finally go retrieve the glass of water.

Now, Ethe set her mind to puzzling over what to do first. She was feeling sharp mentally but not physically. What could this healer do for her? She would be a good pair of ears, but Ethe was sure that whoever was involved was going to be extra careful and hard to get to. Unfortunately, some drow were capable of plotting revenge for many many years so there really was no telling where to point the finger for this. How could they get them to show their hand?

Im'rahi frowned at the careless manner that the older female spoke of using her own chemical compositions..then again it wasn't really her problem what the teacher chose to do once out of Im'rahi's care.

She didn't really care for the teachers' next words. 'It would be in your best interest', that almost sounded like a threat to Im'rahi. Of course if she had any inclination to even breathe a word of what had gone on that threat would have been enough to scare her. As it was, she had already decided not to say anything, though it did make Im'rahi feel manipulated in a manner. And Im'rahi did not care to be manipulated by anyone.

"Yes, so it seems." Im'rahi murmured more to herself than anyone else, her face completely blank so not to give away her feelings.. Then she brightened up a bit, and smiled back at the teacher when she was dismissed. "I'll be right back with those herbs and water for you, we can discuss more on this later."

With that said, Im'rahi eased the door open silently and slide out of the room and closed it behind her. Once outside, she closed her eyes, and rested her head on the door briefly. Gods...what had she gotten herself into? She sighed, massaged her temple a bit and then slowly made her way to the supply closet. Once there she quickly gathered the herbs she would need to concoct the anti-pain sedative that Ethe would need to ease her discomfort. Once she was done with mixing them and getting it to the right consistency, she grabbed a pitcher of water and a cup and made her way back to the private room.

She paused when she heard a slight moan come from one of the beds. With a sigh, she laid supplies down and glided over to the bed she had heard the moan come from. The fellow laying in the bed stirred slightly in his sleep, groaning when his busted ribs were jarred. Im'rahi sighed, grabbed some of the anti-pain med and slipped a small bit of it into the side of his mouth. Soon enough the male's moans dissipated and she was satisfied with how he was faring. She quickly checked on the other occupied beds to see if they needed any assistance and was rather glad to see they were faring perfectly fine without her.

Her duties done, she cleaned her hands, gathered up the supplies for Ethequirizyl and entered the room once more. She left the door open, since her hands were too full to close it and deposited the pitcher and cup on the table by the bed, handing the anti-pain medication to Ethe.
"Just put a bit on your finger and then swipe it in the side of your mouth. The pain should go away pretty quickly." She told the other, as she walked back over to close the door.

Ethe made good and quick use of the time that Im'rahi was gone. She stood and groped her way along the cabinets, sliding open drawers as she went. She tired after a few drawers. There was likely nothing interesting to be had. Ethe walked around the small room slowly. She didn't want to push herself but it was nice to start to move again.

The teacher sat back down again. At least Ethe did not have to lie down anymore. It felt like a long time to Ethe before the healer returned. Ethe chose to gloss over the admonition to take a 'bit' of medication, swiping up a liberal dose on her finger. She swiped it on both sides of her mouth. Ethe knew that her body unfortunately had grown too accustomed to the bombardment of medicines and other things to tolerate normal doses. Not all of that had been done for pleasure, certainly.

Ethe breathed deeply, fluttering her eyes closed momentarily as she relaxed and waited. The healer had been right about the concoction's effectiveness. The pain started fading very quickly. A pleasant haze drifted through Ethe's mind. She stared calmly at the floor, waiting as the sensation passed before she could speak again. As her head cleared, it also felt free from the confusing pain.

"Very good, my head feels much better already." Ethe nodded to the healer. "You saved my life, I guess we could share some names here. Though I imagine you might know mine. Ethequiri'zyl Noquaniyl."

Im'rahi closed the door softly, and turned around breathing in a deep breath and leaned against the door for a moment. Her gaze slowly took in the whole room..and her eyebrows narrowed when she noticed the heat prints on the drawers of the cabinet. Ethe had been busy while she had been gone.

Im'rahi shot a look at the teacher just in time to see her use a double dose of the antipain medicine. She sighed, but didn't say anything. Of course the instructor knew her body better than anyone else so Im'rahi might have been wrong about the dosage instructions. It really wasn't that big of a deal, if Ethe had made a mistake it was her fault if she got overdosed, not Im'rahi's.

She remained silent as she watched Ethe slowly relax on the bed and wait for the medicine to take affect. It didn't take long for Im'rahi to notice the lines of pain on the instructor's face fall away as the pain was numbed by the medicine. Im'rahi waited, wondering and musing over how she might help this lady track down and bring the poisoner to her form of justice.

"I am glad to help you, lady Ethequiri'zyl, " Im'rahi replied bowing slightly to the other female. "I did recognize you lady. I am Im'rahi of the House Auvryvirr. What should our first official action be? I'm rather new to the area of intrigue." She confessed, not knowing how the teacher would take this news.

Ethe smiled, a better mood now thanks to the paste. Whether it was from genuine relief or a slight overdose, she couldn't be sure.

"I can tell you are!" Ethe laughed gently, "I am not, but I admit usually I am more accustomed to causing the intrigue than trying to figure it out." The teacher's face look puzzled as she rolled ideas around.

"First, I need to know what it was that poisoned me. Was it my food? Or could they have smeared something on an object to be absorbed by touch," Ethe mused to herself. "That will tell us a lot in helping figure out who could have had access. If you examined my things, do you have any way to tell what has the poison in or on it?"

Ethe still could not start to shorten a list of suspects. The school was supposedly secure, but there were plenty of ways to get in! If a drow was determined then they would find a way to use someone on the inside so she could not really rule out those strangers to the school. Some nagging suspicion told her to suspect an insider. If anyone outside of the school had wanted to do her in, why would they have waited until now? She was sequestered in her rooms here and harder to find than she had ever been at home. Ethe had rarely been in the safety of her House for one thing. She couldn't even remember some evenings! This was the most secure she had been in a long time and the worst opportunity for revenge. Unless you were someone who knew the school well.

Im'rahi couldn't help but grin at Ethe's sudden change of mood and obvious happiness at the numbness of pain that resulted from the paste Rahi had given her.

She wasn't really annoyed or slighted by the teacher's sudden laughter at what she had said. She was after a novice compared to the teacher's obvious expertise in the manner of intrigue.

Im'rahi took a seat at the end of the bed, as she waited for what Ethe might figure out a few things. Rahi perked up a bit at Ethe's thoughts of how she might have been poisoned.

"Oh yes, poisons usually leave some mark on metals or woods or other items that might have introduced it to you. It would probably only take a few moments for me to find any items that may have been used to poison you. However..it maybe smart to check out your person and all personal affects on you first. Most times poisoners will introduce poison to their targets with items that they wear a lot or use a lot."

Ethe thought over the healer's suggestion. What did she have on her that someone could have gotten access to? "I don't know about that. I don't carry much regularly, mostly my spider.."

Thinking about the spider that hung against her stomach, the metal creature seemed to helplessly wiggle its legs. It was so easy and familiar to control that she could never restrain the motion anymore when she spoke about it.

Ethe knew she had to tell Im'rahi about the rest of her afternoon.

"There was something else that happened... Might be related." She rolled her eyes with a shrug, "To be honest I had not been able to reach reverie in a while and was feeling very awful. Sleep is a substitute fit for surface dwellers. I ordered a servant.." She corrected herself, "a student rather to retrieve some herbs and medicines for me."

Not that it was likely to be an easy task in the first place, but nonetheless Ethe had a feeling that she wasn't making this hunt any easier. "I do check the things I'm brought but like you said any of the objects themselves could have been marked. You can check the objects on me first if you think that is likely.. then we will go to my chambers."

Im'rahi's grew alarmed when Ethe's voice trailed off and got a strange look on her face. There had been something that had happened that Ethe had forgotten about until now. Im'rahi couldn't help but feel her chest tighten at the possibility that she wouldn't be able to aid the teacher.

Of course her fears passed as soon as Ethe revealed that it had to do with herbs..and a student. "Do you have any of those herbs left over? And can you get this student to retrieve them for you again? If we can catch the student with tainted herbs, that should be easy enough to deal with." Im'rahi suggested.

Im'rahi took the other's directions and began to channel her thoughts and prayers to the Spider Queen as she slowly went over the clothing and items that Ethe was wearing. It didn't take her long to find that they were all clean and uncontaminated.

"It appears, Ethe that there is nothing on your person that is contaminate with poisons. At least..that is what Lolth has revealed to me. Shall we go search your quarters now?"

Ethe waited as the healer worked and was not surprised to hear her words about the objects and clothing not being tainted. It would be much more likely for an attacker to have had access to something else like the herbs. The teacher nodded, "Yes, let's go to my rooms. I have some of all the herbs and the vials that were brought to me left."

She hoped Im'rahi was correct in thinking this would be easy to deal with. If they caught the student, that didn't ensure they would find who was behind the attack. Scheming ideas on how things could have played out, Ethequiri'zyl thought that no powerful drow inside the school would have delivered the poison themselves. It could be possible surely that the student was knowingly involved but it was also possible that they were being used in a more powerful drow's game.

Ethe moved towards the door, testing her strength. She felt much steadier on her feet now and hoped that no one would see her leaving the clinic. At least it wouldn't be so bad as long as she was walking without assistance, "It isn't far, I am sure I can walk it on my own."

Im'rahi nodded at Ethe's words and carefully and quickly cleaned up the small room so there would be no appearance of anyone having been there.
Once she had completed the task, she gathered up her satchel from the front room, glanced over the sleeping patients and then waited for Ethe to join her at the front door.
She frowned slightly and then held out a hand to Ethe saying, "It might be better to use the side door. There might be someone watching the clinic to make sure you don't come out. Despite your quickness to get here the culprit may have been watching how the poison took affect on you."

Ethe was glad to see Im'rahi putting effort into covering up the traces of her visit. The healer was taking the investigation seriously. The teacher walked gingerly, pleased to find that it was not much trouble at all to walk, and joined Im'rahi at the door. She nodded quietly at Im'rahi's suggestion and turned around again to go out the side door of the clinic.

The side door would put them out in a hallway just a little further down and closer still to Ethe's quarters. The drow opened the door first and raised her thoughts to Lolth, leading the way towards the back entrance of her study. No handle was visible, but it only took her a moment to raise her House insignia and trace the runes across the door to unlock it.

She ushered the healer inside. "Alright, you can see all of what I received earlier on the desk over there. In the gray case."

Ethe's study was a messy and chaotic place. The desk was partially cleared in the middle, enough for her to work, but the edges were piled with books, papers and small artifacts. Two chairs carved with spider details sat for guests across from the desk. One chair was draped with a cloak and the other had a case of manuscripts to be returned to the library on its seat. Shelves covered one entire wall and every single shelf was in use. Ethequiri'zyl could afford her own extensive library of information valuable to her studies. She also kept many records of her own experiments.

Behind Ethequirizyl's desk stretched a large stone chest. It was low to the ground and beautifully decorated in metal and gems. The top of the chest was quite a trick to open and for the untrained eye the piece of furniture served as more of a bench. Indeed, Ethe had covered it with several plush cushions. She slept here quite often next to her work room. A large rack of files took up the last section of free wall space and Ethe kept it dedicated to her students.

Im'rahi was glad that Ethe seemed pleased with her efforts and followed Ethe out the side door and down the hallway. Im'rahi had never realized just how close the clinic was the Ethe's study. What if one of her patients had slipped out and poisoned the teacher? Surely that wasn't what had happened. Though..the clinic would be a great place to be in order to have a good alibi. Im'rahi figured she'd mention this later, after it was established what the poison could be and who or what had delivered it to Ethe.

Im'rahi waited as Ethe opened the door by means of runes and magic. It all quite intrigued her. Perhaps if her services pleased the teacher, she could gain a magic spell like this to keep others from gaining access to her quarters and private belongings. One did have to protect their secrets; after all..this was the Underdark.

Im'rahi entered the room, her sharp eyes taking it all in a sweeping gaze. It certainly fit the teacher to a t...or so Im'rahi surmised. She tended to read individuals pretty well on...even if she hadn't known them for very long.

"Ah yes. The gray case."
Im'rahi murmured as she glided over the floorboards and came to a stop in front of the desk. She merely leaned over the case so her eyes were close enough to scrutinize it carefully, before she reached to open it. "There doesn't appear to be any powders or poisonous liquids on the outside of it..sometimes poisoners will rig an item that is used a lot by its owner." She explained.

Then She carefully pulled each item out of the case carefully, saying a prayer over each one before setting them aside. It was the last item in the bottom of the case that caused Im'rahi to pull back when she sensed the wrongness about it. Slightly shivering from the odd sensation, she turned to glance at Ethe with a rather strained expression on her face.

"This is it. I don't know what it is about it..but it feels wrong. Do you recall who sent it or delivered it to you?"
Im'rahi asked, staring down at the small figurine of Lolth which was carved out of obsidian.

In some way it was almost fitting in nature, as Lolth was a fickle, chaotic and warring Goddess. And..for one to use a statue of her to poison the sorceress..it was almost a taunt. A rather mocking one at that. One could only guess who had the audacity and balls to do such a thing.

Ethe waited, hardly able to keep patient, as Im'rahi inspected the contents of her case. She came to the last item and the teacher could see the look on the healer's face and knew immediately. The girl shrank back from the case. Ethe leaned in to look at the offending object.

The figurine of Lolth. It had a wide base with a small circular open that slid aside. It was barely visible, so exact was the craftsmanship. She pursed her lips. Of course she knew who had brought it. She had given it to him.

"Yes I know who. I gave the statuette and a few other vials to someone earlier, as I told you, to bring back full with what I wanted." She shrugged, "He's done it before."

"Well, wait a minute." Ethe frowned as she looked closer at the statuette. It was on its side in the bottom of the case and she could see the base was different. Was it her statue? No. She hadn't ran out of the potion it normally contained, so it was possible that she had kept her vial and not given it with the others. She started to rummage in a shallow desk drawer and pulled out another small box. Ethe opened it and right in the front on top was her small Lolth statuette. "Here is mine. Someone dropped me a dupe. He," she hadn't used her student-servant's name yet, "would never know the difference."

Im'rahi nervously wrung her hands as Ethe looked over the object and told her that she had sent it to be filled. Rahi's eyes flittered over the rest of the room..not really convinced the poison had come from only one item..normally such large doses were from being exposed from more than one item. She didn't voice this just yet, as she wanted to find the second object that might have been doused.

At the teacher's words, Rahi turned with a frown. "So it isn't yours? Well..someone certainly went to a lot of trouble to try and get rid of you. Who would have done that?" She asked..more in general than of the teacher.

And that's when she noticed the specks of some sort of powder on another statue.
"Where did you get that statue?" She asked, pointing to a small red spider that was sitting on top of a short stack of books on the side of the desk. "And..be careful where you touch it..its got some sort of powder on it as well. Could there be two different individuals trying to off you?" She asked with a concerned frown.

Ethe watched as the healer finished surveying her room. She was being very thorough, even if she looked nervous.

"Some drow spend a life time hatching their plots. The coincidence of two individuals striking at once? I would say just one very determined drow trying to make sure she was successful."

Ethe laughed, catching the obvious cruelty of her attacker's symbolism. A statue of Lolth. A spider. It made her think of a priestess. There was one priestess in particular she could think of whom would be this dedicated to revenge. But no. Poison wouldn't be like her.

Ethe kept thinking. "I thought I had an idea who. But I wouldn't think of her as someone to use poison. Most priestesses of her status would rather see something even more painful. We could look into it though. It's Anharzi of the House Tilbane. Then there is my servant, student, Kul'kri, but I doubt he's involved."
