Shudiro To tell you the truth, I don't much read manga or comics.(gasp). The only manga I own is Azumanga Daioh be cause the manga reminds me of the Peanuts comics which I love and that both the manga and the anime (which I also own hehe) rule. Never read the Lupin Manga before how is it? Weird? xp It's also funny, but quite different form the Anime, though there are some things that are that same. Think...James Bond. But more odd. And more girls...Read that first book, or just the first chapter and see for yourself. That's pretty much how all the books are, though I like them all. 3nodding I probably can't say more on Gaia...

Lupin The Great I was reading Vol. 1 of the new Lupin 3rd series The Worlds Most Wanted. And now she's threatning to report me and the book to the school principle. She's just completely freaking out. stressed stressed Oh My gosh! My fifth per. teacher from last year snatched my sister's copy from her hands. sweatdrop He insisted that he should read it and i almost had a heartattack because of it. I mean it had a parental warning and it was before the bell. After that i asked her not to read anymore in class.

That sucks. Maybe he just wanted it for himself. xd And I think the ratings only apply to the ones not mature enough to get through one chapter without giggling at the nudity.
Did she ever get the book back?

Did she ever get the book back? I would want the Manga. I want all the Manga. I'm glad I've never had to deal with that. That's one reason I never leave my room to read Manga.

Can't say I can offer much advice for anyone dealing with purloined mangas... confused
Has anyone read or seen any of the newer manga line for Lupin named Y? I doubt it will be translated in the states so I was thinking of hunting it down at a place like Kinokunia (The japanese bookstores) The reason I bring it up is, the art is fairly nice and it's relatively new (last 6 or so years?) I've seen alot of the cover art and totally dig that~

I keep seeing ones on Ebay all the time, but I don't know if it's Lupin III Y or not. One Lupin manga I hope they bring over is Lupin the Kid. It's about Lupin when he's younger and just starting out. They have soem chapters like that in the regular manga which I liked, but Monkey Punch did a whole series about them as well. Depending on how the 'World's Most Wanted' line does when it starts back up in February(?), maybe they'll get more.

Y? I've never heard of it. I've seen some sort of newer imported Lupin mangas but I couldn't tell what series they were.
I saw Lupin the Kid, or heard about it, on Monkey Punch's website and was looking all over for it. This was some time back and I had no success. I hope they release it over here, too. Also some of his other manga I would like to read. It kind of irritates me that he did other series but all most people over here know him for is Lupin. I mean, they guy's insane. His other stuff should be just as entertaining as well.

Some other titles I know Monkey Puch has done are "Siamese Cat" (Don't know what that's about), "Pinky Punky" (A manga he was doing the exact same time as Lupin. Female PI with Lupin humor), "Reverse Aseop Fables" (Don't know, sounds cool, though), and "Cinderella Boy" (Some guy who ends up sharing a body with his girlfriend and their split personalties, I beleive). I would galdly read anything else he has done, since the insane part has grown on me. I read Lupin and think: "If this guy made it big, there's hope for me yet!"

I ended up buying (well, it was bought for me by my 'Lupin' :3) issue one of the Y manga on Friday. It's very cool! The art is nice and it's considerably thicker than I had anticipated (238 pages o.o).
They had 2 lines of manga by this artist (Masatsuki Yamakami under the direction of Monkey Punch) one called 'M' and the other 'Y'. M seemed to have a shorter run, or may just be new...I might pick it up next time we drive to San Fransisco.
The art is nice and it's humor is more on the level as most of the more recent stuff with slight more seriousness (the only thing I kinda would complain about...I'm a second series fan, so I like my Lupin silly) Only other thing I can point out is, jeez, this artist likes his women (mostly Fujiko) naked and exaggerated in proportion sweatdrop
I would so want to scanlate this if I had a stronger grasp of complex kanji... Besides the fact that it is in Japanese, I would definitely recommend it to any big Lupin fan. It's good stuff~

Fujiko naked and exaggerated in proportion? I guess you can't expect anything else from a male artist. sweatdrop That must have been the comic I saw the covers of, where she's really huge and 90% naked. And where Lupin has some other kind of gun.
Pinky Punky I had read about and wanted to read it. Reverse Aesop Fables sounds really interesting and I would love to read those. I have to get back to buying the Lupin ones, though. sweatdrop I'm so far behind in books...

Actaully, I think that lupin encyclopedia has some info on the line of manga... Was this it?

This anime store near where I used to live was selling them, but of course I had no money.

Why is it that there's no girl on only four or so of the covers? It was keeping in part of the Lupin style, but I could see U.S. companies "censoring" it for sale here. I like Lupin's P-38 better, though. xp
