I got a vhs that had VHD tapped on it from a friend in High school. He lent me that and battle angel and I fell in love with both immediately.

Yeah, it's kind funny how we say back in the day or a few years back. But pretty much the little video rental we had in town had a somewhat decent collection of anime and forced my friends to watch pretty much Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll and Vampire Hunter D, the three basic food groups of the anime world in the mid 90's. I lived a pretty sheltered life growing up so VHD was a bit of a different taste for me so I was kinda creeped out by the dark mood and such but I enjoyed the story and the characters. So when the second movie came out I ordered it right away. But sadly I didn't get into reading the books until recently when I moved to a town that had some proper books stores.

I saw a picture in a music magazine. I think it was Alternative Press-- before they went all emo. It was for the first movie, as well as other movies based on Kikuchi's work.

I saw the first VHD movie on the Starz Action channel several years ago. Since that channel always broadcast anime series and movies around midnight or so, I used to stay up all summer and during the weekends to see what would come on.
Vampire Hunter D came on, and at first I was a little put off because of the animation quality, but D sucked me into the story. Everyone else was largely forgotten (though Doris's shower scene stuck with my younger mind), but D...a fangirl was born then.
Fast forward to 2004. VHD is all but forgotten, until one day when a friend of mine invites me to watch Bloodlust with them. 'Twas a love reignited! A few years later, I got into the novel series since I'm an avid reader, and now the manga of the novels. heart

I think it was a few months back when I was in the bookstore searching for interesting new manga to read... That's when I saw it. I skimmed through my first VHD manga and laid my eyes upon the most beautiful artwork I've ever seen.. *dreamy sigh* heart

I found out about Vampire Hunter D when I was 7 years old. That was... 1993. I was over my cousin's house and she had a very large collection of anime (or what I thought of as cartoons at the time) and I watched it. Of course I got in trouble with her and my parents. If I had to do it again I would because D was my first glimpse into the vampire world and I've never turned back. And anime... XD

I saw him on a T-shirt of one of my friends. Six or so years later, I cross-played him at an anime con, based on my memories of that shirt. After that I decided to find out who he was and found the movies on youtube. Two agonizing days of uploading, I watched the movies, then wanted to bu the books.
Still want to buy the books.
The end.

Less than a year ago my friend gave me the first novel for my birthday. Before that I had never heard of VHD before, so I must say I was a little curious at first. Lets just say, I couldn't put the book down till I finished it, and that didn't take long. I'm an avid reader and I rarely find anything that has me captivated like that.
After reading the first book, I rushed to the closet bookstore, Barnes and Noble. Using the giftcard I had received earlier, I bought books two, three, four, and five. Those didn't last long either, seeing as only the second one was near the length of the first.
Now my Vampire Hunter D collection has books one through twelve, the movies, and several of the manga. Book thirteen will be added to my collection once I find it in stock somewhere. >.<

My fiancee knew this guy and we all became friends at an Anime Club. We found out that said dude and I both liked to draw and he brought Bloodlust in because it is gorgeous in all the details (that was one smexy floor) and I got hooked onto the story, so he let me borrow all of the books he owned and then I became a fan.
