How hard is it to write hexcode for dark colors? The first two numbers in hexcode are for red ranging from 00 meaning no red to FF meaning full red. The second two are for green ranging from 00 for no green to FF for full green. The last two are for blue, ranging from 00 for no blue to FF for full blue. Hexcode for color looks like so This text would be brown It's not really that hard people. Really. Another thing that pisses me off is that people make excuses in OOC as for why they didn't post but were on when I posted as listed by Gaia. If you are going to leave an excuse log out... That simple. Something else that pisses me off is people that are permanently offline. That is people that are listed as offline by Gaia even if they are online. That discourages people from interacting with your character... Oh, that brings up another point. When I say have my character ask your character a question while you are offline please have the common decency to at least give my character some form of response. Don't just have them walk away without an answer or whatever. That peeves me to no end... Really it does.

You might not find it hard, but I'm not good with hexcode. And, I simply refuse to keep doing hexcode for every single post a roleplayer makes. It's not that hard to keep a text in a readable state.
I also hate it when people don't post even though they're on. I understand if you loose interest in the roleplay, but please say so! If you loose interest in the roleplay then it's fine and understandable, but other people don't want to have their characters linger while waiting for a non-existent characters response.

For non Hexcode: http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/gaia-guides-and-resources/text-color-codes-new-feature/t.7472495/ is a great link for colors. I was just using Hexcode because that's what I know. I hate when people post one or two sentences when you just had your character basically spill their heart out and they're like 'yea, sure, whatever...' That is so annoying. I mean come on, how hard is it to maybe ask questions or something, anything. Oh, another thing I hate is when people change their GaiaName without warning and expect you to know who it is. Even with an OOC note you should still PM all parties involved in the RP (if it's a small one) or at least make a note in editing saying that you changed your screen name. That irks me. Oh, wow, I just remembered another pet peeve of mine. Short sentences- unless your character is upset, tired, or injured you should not have too many short or incomplete sentences. '...' is a good tool but over using the elipses (triple period) is rather obnoxious. If you can't come up with a complete sentence of dialog just have your character nod or ask a question or something to that effect. And when people confuse you're with your it pushes the annoyance button as well. That is all that I can come up with for now.

i would have to agree with mysticaldragonmastergurl i hate it when people do one or 2 lines although i do occasionally leave one or 2 line sentences but 95% of the time i actually leave at least a small paragraph and the other thing that bugs me to no end now is spelling if u don't have Mozilla Firefox which automatically tell you if u have a spelling error then do microsoftword IT ISN'T THAT HARD PEOPLE and i think that is it other then not leaving a note saying they are going to log off in a role play

If you have the Google Toolbar installed for Internet Explorer there is a button that looks like a check mark that says 'ABC' Above it and 'Check' next to it. That will check up to 99 errors. After that you have to check via Microsoft Word or Open Office spell check. Grammar check's a bit harder to decipher because not all of your grammar issues are pointed out, just the more common ones. It may not point out an incorrect tense or usage of a word. But it does help considerably. If you are going to log off right after posting please at least leave a ((GTG)) after your post so we that are still logged on will not be speaking to ourselves and reloading the page waiting for a response. Another thing that peeves me is when they change the character they are speaking to right in the middle of the sentence or not even have the addressee in the sentence if there are more than one characters in the scene. Address to whom you are speaking, always. Oh, and another thing that really grinds my gears is caps lock abuse. That is that the person writes in CONSTANT CAPITAL LETTERS or uses capital letters when it is not appropriate. It looks like yelling or something and it rather annoying. I forgot about that one.

I meant for every post mechwolf. Don't worry, it wasn't directed to you. It was actually someone that I RP with that made that a Pet Peeve of mine. It's not as major as others though. When it's used to make a point or draw attention to a statement it's fine but over use of it every post is rather headache inducing.

Ellipse (dot) breedinglinnifer As usual, this is probably a repeat topic but I'm typing it anyway. I’ve just read some rather awful examples and feel like a bit of a rant. Ellipses; a much-tortured device.Ellipses. We’ve all used them at some point, whether to convey the trailing off of conversation or to show pause. Thing is, a hell of a lot of people get them wrong; in fact, so many people get them wrong I’m beginning to wonder what the hell people are being taught these days. First of all, ellipses are THREE dots. THREE. How hard can it be? It doesn’t matter how long a pause you're trying to convey, ellipses still equal three dots, not two, five or forty-seven. Three dots or nothing, my friends, and to be honest in a lot of cases the second option is better. no. “So..............” he looked round awkwardly.....waiting for a reply....... yes. “So…” he looked round awkwardly, waiting for a reply. Seriously, though, people in general cannot bend the rules of punctuation like this. Chatting idly with a friend (and somehow ending up on the subject) resulted in the retort ‘it helps to convey the longer pause’. No it doesn’t. It makes your piece look as though it was written by a four year old with little grammatical skill. Second; ellipses, however attractive they may seem, should not be used instead of every other form of punctuation. Again, the ‘it helps to convey a longer pause’ argument may apply here, but it still looks absolutely crap. Ellipse fetish is a common occurrence, but that doesn’t make it RIGHT. Please stop abusing the ellipse, various WF users. (disclaimer: does not apply to any forum users who can punctuate.)I know someone in another guild that breeds dots 100 times more than rabbits can. No less than 3 instances of 10+ per post. >_<

A lot of people here have the same pet peeves; using *'s for actions, poor grammer, etc.
Yeah, they're pet peeves for me too, but here's another HUGE one for me.
Correct use of paragraphs and dialogue.
If I go to fanfiction.net and see someone who doesn't know how to separate paragraphs properly, I don't bother reading his/her story. It's too much of a hassle.
Here's a quick tip if anyone's reading this and doesn't know what I mean.
When writing a paragraph, and a character speaks, you make a new paragraph. I'm too lazy to go into details, so I'll just give some (poorly written, but correct) examples. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lucy skipped down the hallway, her pink skirt swishing with every step. Her brown locks bounced on her shoulders. About ten feet ahead of her, she saw her friend, Kelly.
"Hi," Lucy said. She grinned.
"Hey there, Lucy," replied Kelly. "How are you doing today?" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When a writer puts that as one big paragraph or does something else that's incorrect, it makes me so mad! GRAH!

In forum RPs, with just the thoughts and words of one character per post, and posts that are only about one paragraph-worth long, clarity is less of an issue of the separations. The way I phrase things isn't always perfect so excess of commas or OOC reiterating is occasionally necessary for me.
In an RP post with more than 4 lines or sentences, or any story, I do agree that more attention to 7th grade grammar is and should be expected.

OK so I know I have bad spelling and sometimes I just dont have the time to give a rp my all so two liners happen... but I hate
When people have a post where they only say one thing... Like "Yeah but I dont get it"
end post....thats just stupid dont do that
I hate light colors, my eyes arnt great and I rp for fun. That means I dont want to have to fight with your posts.
I cant stand when people have no idea whats going on. When someone leaves a room with someone else, YOU SHOULD NOT STILL BE TALKING TO THEM AND YOU CANT JUMP INTO THERE CHAT!!! Thats a big one. Read the posts around yours!

Yeah, the one-liners really get to me. Or when your partner(s) leave the thread suddenly in the middle of the plot's climax (or near to it) without mentioning, and complain later when they were left out.
