Well, although I don't buy things with cash, I have to say I enjoy the Eggs' presence in Gaia. They brought the G-Corp Labcoat that I'm wearing down to 250k. biggrin

The can just get off their high horses. Granted it's their year but what difference does that make? You took part in it. So what. It's just a bunch of pixels. It's all digital, not real, so why does it matter so much? It doesn't. Their just mad because their not making as much money as they were. Most will say it's for pride of their year but it's not. If it was pride for of the year then they would'nt have mentioned the price at all. you can be proud about your year without having to worry about the price of stuff.

Others, chiefly those who come later aquire them as greatly valuable objects, to be treasured. These items value at this point is based on their rarity. To break that rarity is to devalue the experience of the event itself. After all, if one didn't attend the event and can now aquire a symbol of it "on the cheap" then what meaning does it have at all. Nothing. If you want high horses, then I shall show you high horses. I point to newer users who demand that such things be rereleased. That things be equalized! "We weren't around for it, so its not fair!" Lunacy. We, the Oldbies, put in our time and commitment to earn these items. Over the years we have stayed on Gaia and helped it grow and given it hefty chunks of ourselves. What right have YOU, newer gaians, to demand these things or receive them? Serve your time, put forth your commitment, and absorb the items that come from your own time. If you really must own one, then buy it from one who has earned it. Not this... If Gaia had wanted a splendiferous reward, it should have created a NEW one. *is gumpy and upset and tired* hmph, I don't usually get this worked up about things... Okay, Doc's Harness is awesome. I must have one. Immediately. That goes for the Gurren Lagaan mask as well.
But there are many other good items, as well. A rousing success.
So, they re-released the labcoats? I'd love a Zombie Labcoat.
Still, I can definitely see why people that already had them are pissed. Not only is it cheapening them in the very REAL sense in that they're worth much less, but also in a more metaphorical sense. It's easy to tell people to "get off their high horse" when YOU'RE the one that stands to benefit, and they have everything to lose, isn't it?

Yes this is a bad issue with the eggs handing out fairly popular items. But can you really blame Gaia? This is a buisness after all. No matter how much we may wish this was just some really cool site the fact remains that it isn't. The site stopped being family based around mid 2005. That's when the change happened. And it's just increased since then. Oh and your opinon on the items being seen as greatly valued symbols of honor is valid only to those who chose to keep the item or choose to keep them later. And even then, as I said before, the price wouldn't reallly matter to them would it? Sure a nice price is cool to look at but if your not gonna sell it why should you care? Oh, And I feel I should make this statement. This was not an arguement on us newer gaians receiving the items. In no way was my original post meant to be seen as such. I have no interest in older items for their value. I buy them because I like them, The price means nothing to me. Yes I rather think they should've made a new one, but they didn't. The only thing you can really do now is pettition. People that are pissed, you have every right to be, just don't whine about it. Whinning gets you nowhere. Instead, take action. Stop the flow if you can. Complaining about won't get you anywhere. Talk to the devs. See if they can stop it. But from what I've seen in the past I doubt it's going to help.

Wow that is just great! *sarcasm* They are now practicing huge inflation with millions of gold from mythrill coins. And re-releasing event itmes. I came and 06 and sure I would like something that costs a lot but I would rather earn it. It is almost like re-releasing Tim's Grombie skin again. But we all know that it wont happen. Now while I pout and cry about only having 3k, you guys can start debating whether this is good or bad.

Re-releasing event items, horribly bad. Especially from three years ago or more. They insist on pampering Cash holders this much because it brings them in an extra dollar for every egg. I have one penny worth in cash at the moment, because I simply can't find a reasonable way to get rid of it. And they won't release anything good for 1 cash, because they would probably consider it too cheap to bother.

I agree with most of the observations going on in the room, while I may feel a little less vehemently on some points. While I am not thrilled with Gaia's fixation on the Cash Shop items I am pleased with most of the new items, and I am most pleased with the conversation it has engaged us in. When things like this happen it is all to common for one side to launch a shouting match at the other. But this...This is much more reasoned, and healthy. Thank you all for these wonderful conversations.

That is a problem. Deffinately. When I first saw that 04ers were being pissed about prices being so low I was thinking what most people were thinking. It's just a price get over it. But then I found out they were willingly giving the items out from 04 in the egg. That's why I now think that it's bad. I like the egg. It brings on a great deal of good things. But I don't like this at all. I feel you should have to work for the item like you do. You should've been there or you can buy it from somebody who was. But this.......this is awful. All I'm saying now is to stop complaining about the fact and DO something. Pettition, Boycott, Relentlessly ask the devs to stop. And if that doesn't work THEN you can b***h and complain, because THEN there would be nothing to do about it. As it stands now there is. 04ers Stop buying from the cash shop. Tell the devs why you've stopped in a pettition. Do SOMETHING besides complain and moan about it.
