That would be really dangerous, especially with our last show. At first, the last couple of sets had us condense A LOT, and then condense some more, before finally going to a picture of 2 sets of bird wings that were close together. Our director changed the last set so it'd be farther apart, but it was still pretty close. If we had even thought about marching that with our eyes shut, I can only imagine the amount of money it'd take to repair all 150-175 of those instruments, not to mention the band's injuries. Thank goodness he decided to change the ending entirely.
Another thing was during a pass through, a flute was unfortunate enough to get hit in the head by a trombone marching behind him. This again would have been much worse with eyes closed.
