I don't care too much why he left... honestly, it all turned out for the better. Megadeth was formed AND Metallica came out with some gold. Win-win. Oh, and my favorite Death Magnetic song was probably All Nightmare Long... I liked those lyrics... But honestly, it doesn't matter too much WHY he left/was kicked out/got drunk and kicked s**t, the point is, things worked out. mrgreen And resulted in good music all around for a while.

I have not heard the new album, though Ride the Lightning is my favorite. But from what I see, it is worthy of picking up.

I think Metallica was better back before the 21st century. Albums like Kill Them All, and all those other ones were GREAT. But, now I don't really like them... They played heavier when they were younger I suppose is my problem. It seems 2000 hit them hard (I'm just joking please don't take any offense to that as that's not what I was intending to do!) blaugh

Before the past year or so, I'd only heard a couple songs from Metallica. Mainly the radio ones, Enter Sandman, Nothing Else Matters...
So I thought Metallica was just a band that came on the radio...until a friend told me different. He got me their whole discography and told me to just listen to it. I almost instantly loved ...And Justice for All, the most.
Since then, I kinda laid down the black album, Load's & Anger and stuck to their thrashy stuff. I do like a couple on the new one, but that's about it. I'm so glad my friend did that. I would've lived my life never knowing what Metallica really was...
