Sigal listened raptly to everything Ame had to say. She listened in wonder to the bit about the cave. She went tense all over when Ame mentioned the mean foxes, but she relaxed once she realized her mate had managed to escape them unharmed. And she felt sad that Ame had spent so long wandering on her own, sad that her mate had been all alone. Sad that things had been so bad, that Ame had felt like giving up.
But also, she felt overjoyed, that Ame hadn't.
She nuzzled Ame. "Don't feel bad. There were definitely times when it was tough for me too, without you here. You felt like giving up, but you didn't. You didn't give up, and you're here now, and you're safe, and we're together again, and that's the part that really counts! Just that I can see you one more time...that's more than enough for me. But that you're here, and here to stay, with me...I can't even describe how happy I am."
Sigal smiled, and then remembered the first part, about her family.
"Oh, yeah! Daddy and Kazuki had kits, five of them, and then I guess they didn't tell them about me, and so they were kind of mad when I came by. And Twilight's kits are grown up now. I guess you'll see them back at the tribe. They're...interesting."
Sigal left out the part where she and Jacqueline didn't get along that well. She hadn't been by the tribe that much lately, so maybe her niece had calmed down a bit by now?
Sigal hoped so. Mom was stressful enough for her to deal with. She didn't need another one like that.

Ame nuzzled Sigal back. Her ears dropped sadly at knowing she had given Sigal a hard time. She was so amazing, she deserved someone who wouldn't wonder off and leave her alone. Ame vowed to herself that she would never venture to far from her lovers side ever again.
"I'm so thrilled that you are okay and safe." Ame nuzzled her mate again. "I'm so glad you're here and you didn't run off with some other fox. You're here. I promise I'll never leave you again." Ame smiled and licked Sigal's cheek.
How could Mr..... how could Ari not tell his other kids about his wonderfully amazing daughter? Things must have been so hard for her. Losing her mate and being rejected by new family members.
"Interesting, huh? Should I be worried?" Ame chuckled lightly. Ah, it felt so good to laugh. It felt so good to be home.

Sigal shook her head. "How could I ever wander away from someone as wonderful as you?" No, after being with Ame, she knew that another modifox would never compare to her!
"Um, maybe...Jacqueline acted a lot like my mom, but that attitude goes against the tribe and its message of love, so maybe Amor has gotten her to calm down a bit. I really haven't seen here that much since she was a kit.
"Oh, and Aonghus is...unique. Kinda spacy, actually, but he's really nice!" Of her nieces and nephews, those were the only two she really knew much about. She hadn't had much of a chance to get to know the others, and she wondered what they were like.

Ame smiled lovingly at Sigal and listened with interest as she talked about her nieces and nephews.
"Another Heartbreak? That can never be good. I hope she's calmed down and easier to love." Ame thought about how her absence must have kept Sigal away from the tribe and her family.
"Aonghus sounds interesting and sort of like your dad." Ame giggled a bit. "I can't wait to meet them all. I'm so glad to finally be home."

Sigal giggled when Ame compared Aonguhs to her dad. "I guess kinda. They're both really nice! But daddy's way serious, and Aonguhs isn't serious at all!"
The thought of her father acting hyper and childishly like Aonghus was pretty funny, actually. Okay, really funny. And the next thing she knew, Sigal was rolling around on the ground with laughter. The first laugh she had had in nearly a year.

Ame couldn't help but smile and give a small giggle at hearing Sigal laugh again. It wasn't long before Ame was laughing at Sigal rolling around. Then she began to laugh at herself for laughing. Soon after she joined her mate, rolling on the ground laughing uncontrollably.
It had been almost a full year that Ame had gone without even smiling and somehow Sigal had managed to give her a terribly bad case of the giggles with in a few hours.

Ame's melodious laughter didn't help Sigal at all--indeed, it only made her laugh harder, hard enough that she was gasping for breath.
And it was wonderful. Ame was back, and they were together, and suddenly everything was right with the world again. So what if her family still had some issues? It didn't matter. Nothing mattered, so long as she had Ame by her side.

Ame laughed until she was gasping for air and her sides pained her. Trying to calm herself down, she laid on her back and stared up into the blue sky and took a deep breath. The air was so pure around her. She closed her eyes as she laid there and listened to the birds, bugs, and most importantly, the breathing of her beloved. Everything was so perfect now.
Ame felt herself drifting away into the dream world but couldn't resist it. She was to comfortable. Right before she drifted off, she snaked her tail around Sigal's just to make sure she wouldn't lose her mate while she slept.

Sigal noticed her mate was beginning to drift to sleep. She nearly jumped when Ame's tail curled around her own, at the touch she had become unaccustomed to. But then she wrapped her tail around Ame's in return, and then curled her body around her mate's. It was indescribably nice to be together again. To be able to see and hear and touch her mate again.
Feeling relaxed, Sigal began to drift off as well.

The warmth from the sun beat down upon Ame's figure. Some sort of bird was singing rather loudly in a tree nearby making her ear twitch. Was she in the open? No, she wouldn't have fallen alseep in the open. That would leave open to many chances for attack.
Slowly coming out of her sleeping state, Ame tried to flick her tail and move her feet but neither of them moved. There was a strange weight entangled with hers. With a sudden bout of fear, Ame sprang awake, eyes wide, ears alert, and her heart beating very fast.
The first thing she noticed was the overwhemling and intoxicating smell of her beloved. The second was the sound of a heartbeat and breathing other than her own. And finally, she noticed the white, purple, and pink coat that could only belong to Sigal.
Ame slowly relaxed as the events of this morning came rushing back to her.

Sigal jumped when something pulled on her tail, and then poked her in the side.
"What is it, Twilight? Did something happen? Did Ame came back?" questions burst forth from Sigal long before she was fully conscious. She bit back the stream of questions when she came to her senses.
This was not tribe grounds. This was her and Ame's meadow, a place she could recognize at the barest glance.
And there was...Ame? Was she hallucinating the return of her beloved?
No. No, it was real! It was all real, she remembered, from...last night?
Yes, it had to be: the sun was lower in the sky than before.
She had actually slept through an entire night, for the first time in a long time.
Sigal grinned sheepishly at Ame. "Um, sorry about that. Habit." She leaned over, and licked her mate on the muzzle, much calmer now that she had things properly sorted out.

Ame licked Sigal back and smiled, trying to had the sting of sorrow she felt for causing her beloved so much suffering.
"I didn't mean to wake you." She said softly, lovingly. "But its alright. That habit will soon be broken." Ame reassured her mate. She thought of how they would soon be back to their tribe and never leaving each others sides and she simply smiled. Life from now on would simply be perfect...
Right?

"It's okay. It just means I get to spend more time enjoying being with you." Sigal smiled at her mate. "And yes, it will be broken soon," Sigal said, as she nuzzled Ame.
Yes, that habit would soon be broken. Eventually, she'd stop waking up every morning, wondering where her mate was. Eventually, she would wake up every morning, knowing before she was even conscious, that her dear mate was lying there right next to her.

As they nuzzled, Ame thought about how today just seemed like the perfect day. It was only missing one thing. She couldn't quite put her paw on what was missing until she felt her stomach rumble.
Food. When was the last time she'd eaten? She'd eaten a few berries somewhere but she couldn't remember the last time she'd had any decent meal. Ame's belly rumbled again, much louder this time, and she smiled in embarrassment at her mate.
"Would you like to get something to eat with me?"

"Sure!" Sigal had gotten a bit thinner, and somewhat used to not eating on account of worry, but she should probably fix that, shouldn't she?
"I don't care what I'm doing, as long as it's with you," Sigal smiled, as she licked her mate.
"What are you in the mood for?"
