.:I have a WHAT, now?:.
Vienne stared at the letter her butler had handed her, uncomprehending. "What is this, some kind of joke?"
"No Joke, Miss Harte. Some gentlemen in white coats delivered this letter and... ah... a young lady. Earlier today, while you were out."
Vienne stared again at the paper. The logo read D-Corp. She'd never even heard of this organization. What the ******** was D-Corp and how the hell did they have the nerve to blackmail her? Her! The Heiress of the Harte fortune! It was absurd! And yet... the letter alluded to details that no one outside of the family should be aware of. And the letter also stated, very plainly, just what this "D-Corp" would do if she did not accept the charge they placed on her. She crumpled the paper in outrage and threw it across the room, stamping her foot.
Joss, the butler, watched as she slowly regained her control, the red fading from her face and her eyes sparkling dangerously. He was rather fascinated by the weird little girl who was sitting in the kitchen being fed ice cream by Cook. She had a rather remarkable tail and secretly, Joss hoped that vienne would keep her.
"Well, where is it?" Vienne demanded, frowning. At the butler's confused expression, she elaborated. "The kid, Joss. The kid! The one that I'm apparently responsible for! Where is it?"
"She" And Joss emphasized the word ever so slightly, "is in the kitchen. Poor thing was starving. Cook is taking care of her."
Before he even got the words out, Vienne had flounced out of the room towards the kitchen. It wasn't that she didn't necessarily like kids, she told herself. It was just that she didn't want kids of her own. Reaching the kitchen she peered inside and frowned again. There was indeed a little girl sitting at the table, apparently gorging herself on ice cream. The little girl in question appeared to be green. With a long curling tail. And a big bright smile as she chattered away happily with Cook. Vienne felt her hard demeanor soften as she watched the little domestic scene play out. With a soft sigh of resignation, Vienne stepped into the kitchen.
Two pairs of eyes turned to her. The cook's, wide and startled, and the little girl's, bright and eager. Cook immediately stood and began bustling about, pretending to look busy. Vienne approached the table and stared at the little girl, who stared back. "I'm Vienne. Are you Anataela?" At least the kid's name was pretty. Unusual, but pretty enough to fit in with the family.
"Anataela Kalyssa..." Ana trailed off, unsure what to give as her last name. She knew that this was her new home. The D-Techs had explained to her that she was getting a new mommy and that she would be living here from now on. But she didn't completely understand what that was going to involve. The techs had mentioned that it might take her new family a little while to get used to her. And Ana just wanted them to like her. Joss was nice. And Cook was nice. Vienne... was beautiful but a little bit scary.
"Harte." Vienne said softly. "Your last name is Harte now. I guess you're part of the family, huh?" The kid didn't seem so bad... but first impressions could be misleading. At least she was wearing a dress. Vienne, raised the way she was, believed in little girls dressing like little girls. She held out a hand. "Anataela" She said, finding a hesitant smile creeping across her face. "We have lots of space here... why don't you come with me and we'll pick out a bedroom for you?"
Trustingly, Ana put her hand in her new guardian's and smiled brightly. She got to pick her own room? "Can we paint it pink?" The little girl asked. When she recieved Vienne's answering smile and nod, Anataela came to the conclusion that this relocation thing was going to work out just fine.

Anataela has her very first class at D-Corp and learns how to make her skin change color! She's very pleased with her success and determined to practice hard at the skill until she has it down perfectly.

Dear Diary.
Being a princess is hard work! I hav a new home and its so big! I hav my own room and its big and a playroom and a bath room all of my very own! Veyen had peepul come in and decorate it for me. She let me pick out how I wanted it, so it is all pink and whit. I even hav a real tee set that cook puts real tee in! Cook has tee partees with me and shes really nice. I think Veyen likes me, but Im not shure.
She says I have to be a laydee. She likes my art and got me lots of art things. She says I have to practise my hand writing and my reading. And she says that a laydee plays music and so I have to learn music too.
My new house is like a castle. So it is a good place to learn how to be a princess. And when my dragon hatches it will reely be like I am a princess. Veyen looks like Bell from Beuty and the Beest. I think shes a real princess, and I want her to like me. So I will do my best! And I will learn music, too.
I learned how to change colors too! I am practising every day and learning how to control my skin. Mostly! Sometimes it changes without me wanting it to! But I can turn almost any color now! And I met a girl on the play ground and I changed color to match her! It was so exciting!
Well diary, cook just called for dinner. So I better go!

Vienne determines that Ana must learn to play an instrument like a lady. At the music store, Ana meets Kliken and he shows her his ocarina and helps her choose her own instrument.

September thirteenth
Oh...My...God. You would NOT believe whats been going on! It's ridiculous beyond comprehension!
Apparently I am now an adoptive mother! Under duress. As in... I was blackmailed into taking in a kid. Seriously. What the hell. I'm too young to have kids!
The kid... her name is Anataela... is actually a pretty sweet girl. It's just that I dont really know what to do with her. Joss and Cook are good with her, thank god. I just... well, I would rather burn in hell than send her off to boarding school and finishing school like my parents did for me. But at the same time, I can't let her grow up a little heathen! Not like sending her away would be an option in any case... not according to this D-Corp place.
Luckily for me, Ana is a good girl. She's very obedient, and that helps. And she's feminine, and that helps too since I dont have to struggle to get her to sit up straight or wear appropriate clothing. I think she'll live up to the Harte name fine, once we smooth out all the little wrinkles. She already has excellent posture and an artistic nature, she likes to paint and color and stuff. Am I supposed to put her art up around the house or something? She did a picture of her and Cook and Cook has it taped up to one of the refrigerators.
I just don't know what to do with her! I've already had to take her to that D-Corp place. AND to the park. And I hate having to go out amongst all those people who aren't even close to my (and now Ana's) social standing. She seems happy to make friends with anyone, so I'll have to start monitoring the people she plays with and make sure that they have appropriate upbringings. Except the other D-Corp kids. I guess she has to interact with them.
Oh. Yeah. This D-Corp place? Well, I guess parts of it aren't totally different than some of what the family is involved in. Nevertheless, Ana has chameleon DNA. She met a little girl who is part alligator and a little boy who is part leech! Creepy! And the worst thing...
The kid has a dragon. Sure... now it's an egg. But eventually it'll hatch and it's been made clear that I have to house the thing. A dragon! Can you believe it? It better behave itself, thats all I have to say.
Ana told me a little bit about the dragon she's getting and it sounds like we can modify one of the greenhouses to accomodate it. Apparently it likes things hot and humid. Ugh.
And the boys are coming home next week, so I suppose they'll find out all about this mess their baby sister has managed to get herself into. I'm never going to hear the end of it! How can this possibly be happening? I dont know what to do with a kid!

Dear Diary.
So many things hav been happening! It is all so exciting! I hav made to new friends now. Yeesha is an allagater girl and is getting a blak dragon! She is so nice. She promised to teech me how to swim and our dragons are going to play together when they hatch! Also I met Kliken. He is getting a dragon too! He helped me pick out my violin. He is very nice. It is good to hav friends, even if I only met them once.
I hav uncles too! I hav uncle Charlie and uncle Robbie! They are Veyens brothers and they are nice to me. They brought me presents! A little tiara with pretend diamonds and a magic wand with a star on the end. So now i can reely be a princess! Also I got a new dress to meet them in. It is very pretty. It is dark pink with light pink stripes and it has lace all around the skirt. it is my favorite dress so far. Uncle Charlie wanted to take a sample of my blud. He said that hi-bred blud would be helpful to research. But Veyen told him no. She said that I belonged to her not to them and they couldn't use my blud to play with. That made me happy! Because I dont want to get poked with needles and because it means Veyen likes me. I had been worried that she didnt but I think that we are starting to get used to each other.
This house is so big! But I hav been exploring and I found the inside swimming pool. That is good because I promised Yeesha she cud come over and swim. Did I say she said she would teech me how?
I hav been practising my violin too. It is hard and I am not very good. But Veyen says practise is the most important thing and that I must work very hard. So I am! She played some violin tapes for me and it was so pretty! I hope I can be that good some day. I am also practising my talent too. I can almost match patterns now! Kind of. I am not very good, but I can stay a different color for a lot longer now. Veyen says that my human brain can make my chameleon parts do things normal chameleons maybe cant do. Sometimes. But she just thinks that. I dont know if it is true.
I wish my dragon would hatch! I can not wait to meet it! I have writen down a list of boy names and girl names for my dragon when it hatches.
Wow. I wrote a lot! My hand is kind of tired now. I will write agin later!
Luv Ana.

Dear Diary,
A lot has been happening! I have my violin lesson once a week and I practise all the time. I think I am starting to get good at it! I also have writing and math tutors and stuff who come to the house and give me lessons because Veyen says it is important for a laydee to be smart and well-spoken and stuff. It is boring a lot, but I know that lerning is important and I want to make Veyen happy.
I have met more people. There is a boy named Taren and he is awful! He was so mean to me about my color-changing! I even offered to match him and he was so mean about it! He's not even a pretty color. He is so boring! I met a nice girl named Tryst when Joss took me to his sister's and she taught me to make daisy-chains. And I met a girl named Izzy in a halloween store!
I am so excited for halloween! I can't wait to dress up! I think I will maybe be a fairy princess! I will be so beautiful! I have wings now and I have to find a princess dress that is super nice! It will be so much fun! I can't wait!
Well thats all for now, Diary!

Dear Diary,
Halloween was so much fun! I dressed up like a fairy princess with a big pink ballgown and pink wings and a little tiara! I was sooo pretty! Vienne was having a big big party at the house for all her friends and stuff.
So Cook took me trick-or-treating first. And I got lots and lots of candy! It's all hidden in my dresser now. Vienne wanted to take it away so I couldn't eat it all but I hid it first! So now I can eat as much as I want to whenever I want to!
After trick-or-treating I got to be at the party for a little while. All the grown ups were dressed up so wonderfully! Their costumes were all really expensive looking. Everyone wore masks and ballgowns and stuff. And the grown ups were mostly really nice to me. There were only a few other kids there. Four girls and two boys plus me. The girls were all dressed up nice and they knew all about how to act like princesses! We played in my nursery and had a tea-party with halloween cookies! None of them are going to get a dragon, though. And I looked really different from them. They were all human like Vienne. Except one girl who had pointy ears and said she was an elf. But thats still more human than me. But I showed them how I could change color and that really impressed them! So it was very fun.
I can't wait for my egg to hatch! I've been practicing my violin every day and I am learning to play some lullabies and stuff. I hope my dragon likes lullabies!
I haven't seen any of my friends in awhile because I've been busy with lessons and practicing and stuff. But I told Vienne that I missed them. I dont know if she listened but she said that maybe Joss or Cook would take me for a playdate.
And uncle Robbie and uncle Charlie have come to stay for a long time this time! They are a lot of fun. They'll play horsie with me and let me ride on their shoulders! Vienne always frowns when she sees us playing but she hasn't said not to. Cook says she's suspicious of their intentions, whatever that means.
Anyways, It's time for my math tutor. I'd better go!

Dear Diary,
It's almost christmas time! 'Cause thanksgiving is over and that means christmas comes next! Thanksgiving was really fun. There were a whole lot of peepul at the house that I didn't know and we all got to dress up and Cook made a big big BIG dinner with a huge turkey and three kinds of stuffing and five different kinds of pies! She let me help bake the pumpkin pie, too!
Now the house is decorated for christmas. Vienne had a whole bunch of people come in and when they left they had made the entire house even prettier than it usually is! There is a big giant tree with real candles on it and garlands and wreaths and it's just so pretty!
Oh! oh! And Vienne is going to take me to the ballet! She says we're going to go see the nutcracker suite and I got a brand new dress for it. Vienne said the dress had to be made out of velvet because that is tradition here. I like tradition. It's such a pretty dress, it's a really dark pink with light pink satin highlights and petticoats and I got new mary janes, too! I look so pretty!
I'm so excited for christmas! I've been drawing pictures for everyone. For Vienne and uncle Robbie and uncle Charlie and Cook and Joss. Cook is going to take me shopping so I can get real presents for them too, but I want to draw them nice pictures also.
I have been practicing very hard on my violin and I can almost play silent night all the way through! I have to keep practicing because I'm going to play it at christmas eve after dinner for everyone. They will all be so suprised at how good I've gotten!
Well, thats all for now, diary!

Dear Diary,
Oh my goodness! I've been so busy that I hardly know what to say! Let me see... I've gotten much much better on the violin because I practice a lot. And Vienne has enrolled me in some classes for young ladies. They're really fun! We learn what fork to use for what course and how to walk with books on our heads (I have to use little books because of my headspines) and that you cross your legs at the ankle, not at the knee! And the best part is that I get to wear my prettiest dresses to class and we always have a tea-time where we practice Polite Conversation and have tea and little sandwiches and petit fours! (Those are mini cakes)
Christmas was very good. Vienne took me to see the nutcracker, and it was beautiful! I love the ballet, she's promised to take me to go and see Swan Lake next. I think that the more like a princess I learn how to be, the more Vienne likes me. My best best best christmas present was getting to visit a seamstress and she helped me pick out fabric and patterns and I got to design my very own dresses! It was so exciting! I also got a little-red-riding-hood cloak except it's dark green and not red and it has pink roses embroidered at the edges. And a little muff-thing that keeps my hands warm. It was a very good christmas.
I didn't get to stay up all night for new years. And Vienne wouldn't let me try the champagne either. But thats alright. I got sparkling cider with dinner and that was almost as good.
I'm just so busy that I dont have any time to think or see my friends. But I like to be busy. So thats okay too. And Vienne seems to be very proud of my new accomplishments and thats the most important thing.
