Orpheus was readily prepared for the newest class he had on hand, one for a lizard girl called Anataela. She was a color shifting sort of lizard and after the class with Talia who could also change her colors he'd set the class up in a similar manner.
There was a card table set up in one of the terrain rooms, on the table there was a stack of coloring books and one of the big boxes of ninety-six crayons. They would use the crayons as models, something for her to mimic with her color changing abilities while they colored.
It had gone well last time, they would see how it went this time.

Vienne peered at the paper clutched in one hand, the other hand holding Anataela's. "I think it's here." She said, pushing open the classroom door and peering in curiously. Ana peered in behind her new guardian, then tugged the woman into the room. Her eyes lit up at the sight of crayons... it looked like fun! Bouncing up and down a little, sending her lacy petticoats ruffling, she beamed across the room, her eyes alighting on Orpheus. "Hello." The lizard girl said sweetly, wondering if he noticed how cute she looked in her little pink dress with the matching ribbon in her hair. Vienne looked down at Ana and then at Orpheus, smiling as well, albeit a little awkwardly. "I'm Vienne, this is Anataela. Are we in the right place?"

Orphues nodded his head, "Yes, this strange bit of outside brought indoors is my classroom." He told Vienne, motioning to the area. The field classroom was one of his favorites, it was multipurpose and one he used often.
He turned his attention to Anataela, "Hello there, are you excited about class? We are going to be learning about colors today." He told her with a smile on his face before motioning, "If you want to start coloring I can catch up with you in just a moment."
"You can stay if you like or if you have things you need to do while she is learning you can go instead." He offered the choice to parents when the child they were with was a younger one while the older kids seemed to show up by themselves or with their dragons.

Anataela beamed at Orpheus. She loved colors! "Oh yes, I'm very excited." She said in her most grown-up voice. At his prompting, she skipped cheerily over to the table and began to peruse the massive crayon selection. She'd never seen so many colors all in one place before. She was still blissfully choosing colors while Orpheus spoke with Vienne.
"I'll stay, if you don't mind." Vienne's smile was less awkward now that she knew she'd gotten them to the right place. The classroom was... unexpected, but certainly pleasant. And the opportunity to watch Ana interact with a teacher ought to give her some kind of idea what to do with this little girl who had been thrust upon her.

"I don't mind at all." He said, giving the woman a smile before he lead the way over to the table, sitting down in one of the seats.
"You seem to like coloring." He said of his student, picking up one of the colors himself, a blue and started to twirl it in his fingers, "Did you know that you can change your own color at will, to all sorts of different colors."
His last student with color changing abilities had been able to do it though it had been only due to the colors being linked with her emotions.
Knowing this he would see how much about the skill Anataela herself knew so he could teach from there.

Anataela, who had never heard the phrase "chromatophore" in her life, blinked at Orpheus. "I can? To any color I want?" She blinked again thoughtfully. "Sometimes my skin is darker or lighter... but it's almost always green." A thought crossed her mind and her face lit up. "D'you mean I could make myself all pink?" She could barely contain her excitement at that prospect. Pink, after all, was the official color of a princess.

"Hmm, I am not sure on the color range but it could be possible." He said, looking through the crayons that he had on hand to find a pink one, "I think a good portion of color change is concentration." He said as he held the pink crayon out to his student.
A good portion of his classes were based on him making educated guesses and with his other student when she concentrated she was able to mimic colors, "Do you want to try it out? Concentrate on the color and see if you can get a reaction from your skin?" He asked of her. He was glad to see that she had a color she was so excited over. It would make her want to try to change her color that much more.

Anataela took the crayon and turned it over in her hand, staring hard at it. Concentrating. Pink was her favorite color... it made her feel pretty and happy. She wanted so badly to impress Orpheus and Vienne, who was sitting silently in the corner, alternately watching them and reading a fashion magazine. Pink... like a princess.
All of the sudden her hand turned the same vivid shade as the crayon in her hand. A rush of excitement flooded the little girl and bright splotches of the color appeared on her body, flashing briefly and then dissapearing just as quickly. Ana beamed at Orpheus, her concentration breaking and her hand returning to it's customary color. "I did it!" She said breathlessly. True, she had no real idea of how to control it or keep the effect. But nevertheless... her hand had been pink! She glanced back at Vienne to make sure she had seen it too. Her guardian's jaw was slightly dropped at the small feat, and Ana felt a surge of pride.

Orpheus gave a grin, "That was great!" He sounded as excited as the girl was, he was always amazed by some of the things that his students were capable of, "Now that we know that you can do your most favorite color how about we try a couple other colors too?"
It might be a little harder since she seemed to favor pink. He dug into the colors and picked out two of them, a blue green color and an orange, "How about we work on these two next?"

Ana grinned back and selected the blue-green crayon. Holding it again in her open palm, she gazed at it. Blue-green, like... like... not like the sky. But the color did remind her of her dragon egg. Of course, the egg really was green, and not blue-green. But the connection had been made in her mind. Wouldn't it be grand if she could change color to match her dragon, whatever color it might be? (Pink, she hoped!)
Unbeknownst to the little girl, her brain was sending signals to the chromatophores under her skin, shrinking and enlarging them, blending them together and moving around the melanin fibers until a blue color blossomed on her palm and spread over her arm.
Eyes big and round and bright as stars, Ana's grin widened big enough to split her face. "I did it again!" She exclaimed, feeling terribly proud of herself.

Orpheus clapped his hands, "Nice, very nice." He said watching as her hand and arm took on the blue color. He held the orange out to her, "Alright, try this one out next? If you did an orange, a blue, and a pink that covered a good range of colors, I think it would mean you could mimic most colors. Which means you could always match with whatever you wanted to wear."

Orpheus was a genius. The prospect of being able to match her clothes... (Albeit, the majority of her wardrobe was comprised of pink.) It was a prospect that no little girl as self-aware of her appearance as Anataela could resist. Her eyes lit up and she took the orange crayon greedily, clutching it and staring hard at it.
It took her a moment to find her concentration this time, since she was distracted by fantasies of gorgeous ballgowns that she could match perfectly. Eventually she settled her mind down a bit, just enough to decide that this shade of orange was a lot like mangoes, which happened to be one of her favorite foods. Mango... sticky and sweet... Anataela knew she could do it, knew she had it in her. It took a little longer this time, but when it happened it really happened. Her whole body flashed a vivid orange, albeit briefly. With a suprised squeak she dropped the crayon and returned to her normal color. "Was that supposed to happen?" She asked Orpheus. She hadn't expected to turn colors all over.

The teacher starred in awe as all of the girl turned the bright orange and then gave a laugh, "Yeah, I think that is the results we are after. My guess is that maybe your skin is understanding what you want it to do after so many tries?" It was just that though, a guess as he couldn't be certain.
He gave a smile, "That was really amazing, to see you change completely like that." He said before looking at the crayons and picked up the pink again, "Want to see if you can turn all pink?"

Ana blinked a little, grinning sheepishly at her suprised reaction. "Sure." She said, taking the pink crayon. She didn't know what had happened, exactly. It certainly hadn't been a conscious choice, turning completely orange. She didn't know if she could do it again. But Orpheus was her teacher, and she was sure he knew what he was talking about when he said her skin was understanding what it was supposed to do.
So she stared hard at the pink crayon, thinking nice things about the color and trying to concentrate on making her whole body change color. She really, really wanted to. Perhaps it was her determination. Perhaps it was just the social need to change color. Whatever it was, the signals went from her brain to her skin, which flashed pink. It even lasted almost two whole seconds before it faded. This time Ana didn't panick and drop the crayon. She just grinned broadly.

"Excellent job!" He said when the girl's entire form went momentarily pink before fading back to its original green, "You did a very good job. I think that is about all that I can be of help with though, from this point its going to be a lot of practice on your part to get the skill to be one that you can call up at will." He told his student but had confidence in his voice when he said, "Lots of concentration and hard work and I am sure you will get the hang of it in no time."
