Joss, the butler, had one of his rare days off. And he had decided to spend it visiting with his sister in Barton town. Unfortunately mistress Vivienne, his employer, had foisted her new little girl off on him as well. It wasn't as if Joss minded, really. Ana was a good girl and he liked her. But it was his day off. And he barely ever got them.
Luckily Ana didn't feel like sitting inside a stuffy ol' house with Joss and his sister who had lots of cats, which Ana liked but they made her nose a little bit tickly. So she had wandered out into the front yard with admonitions not to go too far and to be careful of traffic and strangers.
The chameleon girl had wandered around, tried imitating the color of the grass and a tree or two, but had quickly grown bored. And just down the block a little bit was a most curious commotion. A big truck and people carrying furniture around. So, with a glance to make sure no grown ups were watching to tell her "no", she wandered on over to see what was going on.

Moving day. Always a fun thing. Totally.
Rysha was somewhere inside, arranging her things in the house to her liking. So the guardian was occupied, as was the would-be "father" known as Riley. He and Emmet went off somewhere, so it was just Rysha, Tryst, and the moving men.
The snake-girl was sitting outside in the grass of the front lawn, laying on her backside with her tail curled under and around herself. There was a small pile of picked flowers in her lap, and a bracelet of woven flowers was on the little girl's wrist and crowning her white hair. A couple failed attempts lay scattered on the ground around her.
She was making a necklace for Rysha, a pretty one! Her mom had asked for one when Deidre showed her how to make them, so while Rysha was busy, Tryst was working on the present.

Ana didn't get the chance to be nosey very often. She was so busy trying to make her new family like her that she didn't dare do anything that might be construed as not-perfect. But today, like Joss, she figured she had the day off. There wasn't anyone watching her.
And so, upon seeing the snake-girl basking in the sun surrounded by flowers, Ana took it upon herself to stride boldly into the yard and stand over the other girl, her shadow falling over the pale hair and scales. "Hi!" The chameleon grinned cheerfully. "I'm Ana."

Tryst looked up as she felt the sunlight disappear, blocked by someone apparently. She saw a pair of green feet near her, and her eyes went up the legs, waist, torso, to another reptilian face. A smile came to her pale cheeks as she watched the other girl introduce herself.
"I'm Trsyt. Wanna make flower bracelets?" She asked curiously, holding up the half finished one in her hand at the moment, dangling from her fingers like a lifeless hawaiian lei. "I'm makin' one for mama." She said proudly, holding the necklace to her chest with a proud, childish smile on her face.

Ana beamed and plopped onto the grass by Tryst. Flower bracelets! That was a very ladylike and princessly thing to do. Her opinion of Tryst, despite not really having had a chance to form, skyrocketed. "I'd like that! Will you teach me? Are you just moving in here?" No kids lived near the Harte estate. It made Ana wish that she lived in a normal neighborhood with other kids.

Tryst smiled brightly, scooting over a little bit so that the small pile of flowers was between her and Ana. Her, teach Ana, though? A little frown came to her face, then a small pout to her lip. "I can try, I think. My friend Dei showed me how to do it." She said, a happier smile coming to her face as she picked up a couple flowers, holding them to her string of already attached ones.
"You needa put the stems through each other, like this." She held up her string of flowers, showing how she made a hole in the middle of each stem with a finger nail, sliding the stem of the next flower through the hole. "See?"

Ana's first attempt merely shredded the stem of the flower, but on her second try she managed to make a little hole in the stem and thread another flower through it. She worked in concentrated silence for a few moments before she felt confident enough in this new game to look over to Tryst and smile. "Are you just moving in here?"

Tryst was working on her mangled little necklace while Ana got the hang of it. Her little black tongue stuck out of the corner of her mouth as she focused on the stems, her eyes slightly cross eyed as she peered in close.
'Yuh-huh, me'n mama and Emmy, and papa Riley. Me'n Mama were in her 'partment, but they gots a new house so me an' Emmy could see each other." She said happily, an excited smile on her face.

Ana's own smile was a little wistful as she picked a yellow flower from the pile. "I used to live in an apartment with my mom. But then something happened and now I live with someone else in a big, big house." She added the yellow flower to her chain and inspected it. Not half bad, as far as she was concerned. "Who is Emmy?"

"Emmy is my brother. We're twins, so he looks like me too, 'cept he has black eyes with red in them, and I gots blue ones with black." She said happily, stringing another flower onto the chain.
At Ana's words, though, a sad expression came onto the snake girl's face. "You don't see your mama anymore? Do you ever get to talk to her still?" The idea of being taken from Rysha was just too much; she hadn't known the woman forever, like she had Emmy, but she still loved her all the same.

Ana swallowed a little tightly, but then put on a smile. "I dont know where my mom went or what happened to her. Just that they said I was gonna go live with someone else now. But it's a really nice house and I think Vienne, the lady I live with now, is starting to like me." She shrugged it off, grabbing another flower and linking it with the others.

"Is Ven a nice lady?" She asked, threading another small flower onto her chain, not sure if she pronounced the name correctly or not. It was starting to get to the proper length for a necklace, at least around the little snake girl's neck. She held up the chain, the two ends next to each other.
"Think this would fit Mama?" Tryst asked, the eagerness to please evident in her voice.

"Vienne?" Ana thought about it for a moment. "She's nice. She's like a princess." Turning her head to inspect the chain Tryst had made, Ana considered it. "I think maybe you should make it just a tiny bit longer." She said, smiling and holding up her own chain, which was starting to slowly take shape. "How am I doing?"

"Ooh, a princess? Does she have a crown?" Tryst asked in interest; she'd never seen a princess before, but sometimes when Rysha told her a story before bedtime, there was a princess in it.
She watched Ana hold up her necklace of flowers, and a happy smile came to her pale face. "S'good! It looks real pretty. Are you makin' it for anyone special?"

"I've never seen her wear a crown..." Ana said thoughtfully. "But maybe she only takes it out for special occasions." She smiled happily back at Tryst. "I think maybe it's for me." The chameleon girl responded. "This time. I dont have anyone special to make one for."
