Syrette Lyra Elizabeth Syrette So, I was a tad bit annoyed when I read that, but not for the reasons people have posted.
Her response could have been a bit more professional instead of this baaaawwww-fest announcement. Yes, a leak happen and leaks happen to the best of authors. It's a human mistake. (But then again, Meyer's "anti-human" so maybe that's why she whined...) Instead of being "Wah, I'm just not gonna write no more since my emotions affect my writing so much and I don't plan", she could've persevered like a strong writer would and completed the book. It was just a manuscript. It's not like the actual book. :/ Things would have to change so it would be "infintely superior" like she said the final draft would be. But no. She can't live up to her own words and posted the draft on her website and decided not to write it.
The ONLY thing that's going to come out of this postpone is disgruntled fans. The illegal jerks who posted it online in the first place probably don't give a rat's a** about Meyer. Her fans, on the other hand, actual care and wanted to read it.
So basically, Meyer unknowingly punished her fans who are giving the money she has today. Way to go. She is upset. Nothing you say will change that. It's not her fault it was leaked. Maybe she could have "persevered like a strong writer would and completed the book" but since she is upset it probably wouldn't be anywhere near as good as it could be. I would rather just have part of the book than have the whole thing but with the second half really crappy. Also, it is not yet set in stone whether she will finish it or not. Maybe she will finish it, but not for a while. Maybe in a few months or even a year, she will not be upset any more and will be able to finish it. Maybe not. We'll see what happens. If I were in the same situation, I would be upset, too. Something that she has been working on for most likely at least a few months has been ruined. Give her some time. She at least deserves that much. Never said she wasn't upset. In fact, I desribed her post as a baaaaaaawwww-fest, which means she was overly upset about something that happens to the best of people. There was no need for her to go into tantrum mode and say, "I can't finish a book that's already been published and I can't follow the original because I just don't feel like it." Also, it was a manuscript. Not the final copy. It's totally understandable that she's a bit miffed at the leak, but to go to the extreme and say, "As of today, Midnight Sun will not be finished unless I feel like doing it later." Manuscripts have to be changed and editted, which means there is a lot of room for change. Especially with that s**t Spanish she put in there. Dx Babblefish, much?
Besides, like Vampire Kylee brought up, money talks louder than Meyer's teenage emotions. Midnight Sun would probably be published because after this fiasco, more fans will be like, "NO! Meyer please publish it! I'll still buy iiiiiitt~~~!" And c'mon. Midnight Sun is just Twilight from Eddie-kin's POV, so everything is already laid out. Only thing to add is Edward's voice to the story. That's it.I agree with what you've said.It happens to the best authors, songs from musical artists, but I don't see them complaining.

So basically, Meyer unknowingly punished her fans who are giving the money she has today. Way to go. OFT. A friend and I were discussing this the other day, and she made the remark, "Trust people as far as you can throw them and then take all that distance away except for one inch." It happens to everyone and I just think she's being a little overdramatic about it.

I agree with everything you said, Syrette. Thanks for putting it in an intellectual way, because I'm about to say in the most juvenile way:
Meyer is being a big baby.

i do agree with syrette and everybody else who has said the same thing. Meyer i think just kinda went on a tizz after hearing about this. Hopefully, she will come to her senses and get over it. Maybe she'll wake up a week from now and be all, "Oh, well maybe i went a little overboard." ...we can only hope.
I do think she might have been a bit melodramatic...well maybe a little more than that...but i am pissed about the leaking and the holding off.
She said that it would be put on hold INDEFINATELY. A bit harsh, don't ya think?

Silly Tilly Maybe shes just using that as an excuse and really has writers block.... confused Well, then it must be the most brutal case of writer's block to put it on hold indefinitely. :/ But that's just down right silly if she just has writer's block. She's being waaaaay to overdramatic about it if she does have writer's block. It's not like Midnight Sun even had an official date, so the only pressure she was under was the pressure from her fans and even fans can understand if she has to put off the book by a couple months.

I'd still buy it if she published it. I think she's acting childish and it's making some fans loose faith...

"Indefinatley" only sounds harsh - it just means "for an unspecified amount of time." The release date was already unspecified.

lildarkangel3001 so it will eventually come out? Most likely. We just have to hope that Meyer hasn't had a vampire burn-out.
