((poke mattix))

She had been relaxing for a little while before there was a sound from up in one of the trees - claws scrabbling on bark. There was an animal of some description out there, but it didn't sound terribly large. The forest was filled with animals, afterall. What was one more noise to add to the mix?

The sudden noise startled poke from her rest, causing her to jump up and half think something was after her. She soon realised this wasn't the case. Turning around, she gazed at the trees were the sound had came from. Exactly what was it? she thought. It most proably was some bird that was occupying a tree. However...

Curiosity had a hold, and ever so cauciously she edged closer towards the trees. She didn't want to startle whatever animal was in it, least it run away or try to attack her.

There was a rustle in the treetops, something stirring around that wasn't too large. The origin of the sound was a fruit-bearing tree that was covered in the last few pieces of its bright red fruits, and the small animal inside its branches had one of the things plopped in front of it - between Kailind and itself - making it almost invisible. It wasn't everyday, of course, that fruit seemed to jiggle about on the branches.

Luffy, you realize that you just godmoded in your post? You don't determine the species of familiar, so implying footsteps isn't any good - especially considering the species you did get. ^^ ))

There was birdsong in the trees overhead - bright, beautiful and energetic. But it seemed to come from lungs that were larger than any normal song bird's, and indeed it seemed to be coming nearer.

A few feet away from where she had sat down, the flowers moved. Something was in that flowerpath with her, and whatever it was it was small and brightly colored - blending in nicely with the flowers. It didn't make a noise, having frozen when it realized that there was something large and potentially dangerous nearby.

Keely froze as she saw the flowers rustle out the corner of her eye. She moved cautiously, taking her hand from the blossom that she had been examining. With exaggerated, slow movements, she shifted in the flowers so that she was looking straight in the direction of the movement. Living in the forest had taught her that tiny creatures were very skittish, and to approach one had to be both calm and quiet.

Carefully, Keely placed her hand in front of her, meaning to crawl closer to the creature.

It was a warm and sunny day, and Rowan felt herself dozing off. It was a really nice place here really, there was a sense of peace, the water's rhythmic splashing oddly comforting. She nearly fell asleep before she toppled over and almost fell on her face.

Grumbling at herself for her lack of alertness, she propped herself back up, reminding herself that she was out in the wilds and it was no place to let down her guard. It was then that a flash of yellow caught her eyes, and she quirked her head with curiosity.

She's never seen that shade of yellow out in the wild before, what kind of flower might it be? It seemed to be hidden under the thick mist thrown up by the waterfall, and Rowan couldn't get a good look. Grabbing her pack and throwing it over her shoulder (it had her remaining food in it, she did not want to leave it for a raccoon to steal) she went toward the water, unaware that the "flower" she had caught a glimpse of was actually an animal.

At her initial movements, the sounds ceased and the creature making them froze, in reality fearing more for its safety than wanting to satisfy its sense of curiosity. But the music seemed to have some sort of an effect; after a continued few moments of silence, the creature approached closed, staying close to the ground and low in the underbrush until its little yellow nose was just about sticking out of the forest's edge, whiskers twitching.

At the bird call, the creature froze and remained still and silent for many moments before it went back to its digging around. It had been afraid for a predator, perhaps, or just distracted by the noise.

As she approached, the noise stopped, but when she got too close it started up again. Something with red markings darted higher up into the treetops, chittering a bit in fright.

The movements continued until it realized it was being watched, and then it froze. Pointed ears pricked up, the black tips just visible over the tops of the flowers as it was down on all fours. It was definitely something small, almost rabbit-like.

The flower moved as Rowan approached, skittering a pace towards her to get a better look before deciding maybe backwards was the right direction. It was small, with long ears and a strangely shaped tail, but the water distorted details still.

ahh, I'm scaring it to much... poke thought and stopped, staying still and watching the treetops closely. She was closer now, so she could see something that appeared...red, in the trees. But it had gone up higher.

Still, she had one idea left to her. Pulling her backpack to the front, she opened it up and looked around. She had to place it on the ground for a second but, she was still able to find her items; food. Since she had heard she was dealing with small animals, she decided to bring some food with her to feed them. She had to guess though on what kind of food to bring, and decided that apples and carrots would proably be good, as well as a bit of grain.

carefully she took out one of the apples inside, and place it at the base of the tree before standing back. There was no way she could hand the food to a wild animal, but mabye now it would come down from the tree? thats if it even ate apples...

Ari frowned when nothing emerged. Maybe she'd been imagining the scuffling noises. Huh. She shook her head slightly before a dark purple flower caught the corner of her eye. Her eyes widened as she practically skipped over to look at it.

If she was right... This was one of the ingredients for a cure for the flu! She hadn't found one of these flowers in MONTHS. Maybe there were more? Ari moved around slowly and warily, just in case the scuffling had been a feral or something.

As she worked, the brunette softly sang one of the lullaby's that her dad had said her mum used to sing to her when she'd still been inside her belly. His attempt at singing it hadn't been very good, so Ari had just taken it from there and created her own mini version of it. Her mum had died from a combination of the fever she'd had, and giving birth to her.

Momentary he look away from his food as he looked to the bushes in the distance he saw a normal deer. Who had been grazing in the surrounding forest and had been staring at him from there the whole time before he could do anything. All of a sudden a bird from the trees overhead bursted into song so suddening and so close that it startled Luffy and the deer causing it to flee. The birdsong was a bit loud due to the fact that it was close and that it that would seem to fill the whole surrounding forest was filled with its beautiful melody it would have large lungs to make such loud and marvelous song. In hopes to see where the song originated he scanned the surrounding skies.
xd my RP sucks

The canopy was thick, blocking most of the sunlight and preventing a good view of the sky. The only place visible was directly over the clearing, which wasn't where the song was coming from.

Keely froze almost as the creature did - it was rabbit-like, she could see now - and held her breath. Was she scaring it? Slowly she sat back in the flowers with deliberate movements and even, concentrated breaths. If she knew rabbits, they could be flighty creatures, and anything sudden could send them scurrying.

But... this wasn't like any rabbit she'd ever seen. She wasn't even sure if it was rabbit-like, or if she was just imagining things. Perhaps she could offer it something to eat. She fumbled quietly in her bag for the bread she meant to have for lunch and broke off a tiny piece. Would it eat bread?

Keely lay down in the flowers lightly, trying to get to eye level with it. Then, slowly as ever, she reached out and offered the bread.

Rowan's eyes widened with surprise when she saw the yellow thing move. As it came closer for a moment, Rowan thought she caught the outlines of a strangely shaped tail and ears, but that colouring!

Rowan thought it was perhaps a Butterfly for a moment, but dismissed that notion. This was bigger than a butterfly. She tried to come up with any animals she knew which would have such a bright yellow colouration, she couldn't think of anything. It didn't look like a bird, which took out the possibility of a Canary.

Rowan approached cautiously, curious as to find out what animal this is, but still aware of the fact that there are two reasons animals have bright colours: trying to attract mates, or indicating that they are poisonous. Good thing was that most poisonous animals are just that: Poisonous and harmless as long as you don't eat them. But there are always venomous species out there, and Rowan didn't want to be dealing with a poisoned wound so far away from home.

Her hand was ready to snap to her sword if the creature was hostile, the mist from the waterfall blurring everything slightly.

A rustling sound from a nearby fruit tree caught Kailind's attention, so she glances over. She didn't see anything for a moment or two, but then she noticed the odd jiggling off a piece fo fruit. She had the vague impression there might be something behind it, but there was absolutely no way to be sure. Unless she got a better look of course, and now she was curious enough to do just that.

Quietly Kailind slipped off her rock, getting into a semi-crouch as she landed. Then she slowly and carefully started creeping forward, pausing whenever it looked like the creature might have noticed her. She didn't head straight for the tree, instead circling around it in a wide arc. She was just aiming to get a clearer look at whatever might be there, and certainly did not want to risk startling it.

That tiny bit of yellow among the green...It caught the flightmistress' attention, though she never stopped playing. It's height from the ground, and that pause when she had moved into a more advantageous position...All this gave her reason to relax, a little. It was a small creature, whatever it was. And it was...yellow? Aside from a few birds, DA didn't know of any small creatures that lived in these mountains that happened to be bright yellow. Just what was this creature that seemed so curious in her?

The kynmistress' song shifted: it was a calm tune, soothing. The music seemed a little out of place in the sunlight...The best way to describe it would have been as a lullaby. DA had invented it more than a year ago, before Jicho had reached his full growth, when he had been troubled by his visions one night to soothe the black gargoyle. Had she really lived in the crater that long?...The former mercenary allowed her mind to wander some at the revelation.

There was more chittering as poke mattix moved about, but things went silent as she left the apple. There was a long moment of hesitation before the red and tan mouse-like creature inched down the tree, sniffing at the apple with obvious interest.

With another series of chitters, it dropped to the ground beside the apple and wrapped its small arms around it, obviously trying to decide how to get the whole apple back up the tree.

The sounds disappeared as soon as she went for the flower, the creature frozen before darting a bit farther away, making the flowers and grass move in its haste. After putting distance between them, the creature went back to its business of scrounging around in the grass and flowers after seeds.

As time passed, the creature ended up moving closer. Perhaps it was too absorbed in its hunting around, but it might have been the music.
