Era let out a loud chirp before getting struck by the Flamethrower. The flames knocked the confusion out of her, but at a cost. A bunch of burnt feathers floated down as she tried to recover from the attack, and the Swablu tried to fly higher again but was impaired by the loss of quite a few feathers.
At least the growl did something to the otherwise devastating attack. Piney cringed at not only the sight, but the smell of a charred Pokemon. She was more determined than ever to win this fight.
"Ok, another Dragon Pulse!"
Even though she wouldn't have liked to, Era fluttered down closer to the Vulpix, gaining speed as she did so. She opened her beak to shriek once more and release another burst of energy.

Saspra couldn't help, but winch too as Era was struck by the flames. Poor Era, she thought to herself, but she had to try to win. Holding back wasn't an option at the moment. "Fire Spin, Shadow!" She yelled over to him.
"Vul vul~" Was Shadow's reply before he was surrounded by flames and charged towards Era with astounding force.

((That's not how Fire spin works. That's more like a Flame wheel but I'll just shut up now. XD))
Still a bit dazed from the Flamethrower, Era barely managed to avoid the fiery tackle. But her feathers were burnt further by the flames that surrounded the Vulpix.
That's it. With a couple of flaps, she was high in the air again. She wasn't going to go down there and be a sitting duck for Shadow's attack.
Piney didn't mind that Era was refusing to come down. Instead, she called out the next move. "Another Dragon Pulse!"
Still hovering above the battlefield, the Swablu let out another roar and waves of energy. This was getting tiring, to be so repetitive, but if it was what it took, she'll have to do so.

Saspra flinched as the Dragon Pulse did critical damage. At the rate this battle was going she couldn't afford to not use Confuse Ray again. "Confuse Ray!" She yelled over to Shadow. She hoped that the attack would hit and not miss.
Shadow was blown back by the Dragon Pulse. He got back up and shook his ruffled fur. Opening his mouth slowly he let out yet another shining white ball and aimed it towards Era hoping for the best.
"Come on Shadow, you can do it!" Saspra yelled in encouragement at her Vulpix. The Dragon Pulses were starting to take their effects on Shadow and Saspra wasn't sure how much more he could take before the battle ended.

Even though she was high up in the air, the bright light dazzled Era a second time. She plummented downwards for a moment before remembering to flap her wings. But even then she could help but fly around in odd shapes.
That... was getting annoying. They were almost there though. Piney hoped that she wasn't confused enough to hurt herself to defeat.
"Like last time! Mirror Move!"
The Swablu glanced down at Shadow and summoned another some light. She launched the ball at the Vulpix, too confused to aim properly.

Saspra almost jumped for joy as Era's move backfired and it herself. She didn't thought because that would've been rude. "Come on Shadow, Flamethrower!" She called out to her tired Pokemon.
Shadow dodged the Confuse Ray and watched as Era attacked herself. He took a deep breath and opened his mouth to let out ferocious flames in the direction of Era.
Saspra knew this battle was going to end soon. She only hoped that things would go in her favor.

Even in her confused state, Era managed to flip around in an odd way and avoid the Flamethrower. She didn't seem to notice that she dodged the fiery attack, but the heat that came from it seemed to have snapped her back to her sense. Partially, anyway.
The battle was at a standstill. Mostly, anyway. Piney still had the lead, but her Pokemon was still confused, and she could attack herself and give her opponent more of an advantage.
"Dragon Pulse!"
Era flapped her wings awkwardly as she tried to direct the energy towards the Vulpix. Everything was blurry, in her eyes, and she couldn't distinguish a gravestone from the fox-like critter.

Saspra frowned as the Dragon Pulse hit and did critical damage. This wasn't good. One more hit and Shadow was out for the count. If only there was a way to stop Era's attacks. "Shadow, Flamethrower!" She ordered her Vulpix hoping for the best while expecting the worse.
Shadow flailed a little as the Dragon Pulse hit him square on in the shoulder. He growled then fired off a Flamethrower in Era's general direction.

A second flamethrower scorched the Swablu, though it finally made her regain her senses. It didn't hurt as much as it did last time, and she managed to blow away the flames before it did any real damage.
Now Piney was either lucky or Saspra was unlucky. She was a bit upset that the trainer's first fight had to be a loss, but she couldn't just hand over a victory like that.
"We're almost there! One last Dragon Pulse!"
Era gained enough courage to fly down closer to Shadow. Hovering right next to him, she opened her beak and a loud screech echoed throughout the field. The energy that was also emitted shattered some of the weaker tombstones that were nearby.

(( Yo, this is mah 2nd battle. xD ))
Shadow took the attack smack on his head. After the attack he stumbled a little then fell over. The battle was over.
Saspra sighed at the loss. But hey, it wasn't always about winning. It was about having fun and heck, this battle was a blast! "You did great Shadow, return." The Pokeball's red flash appeared then Shadow disappeared. "That was a great battle Piney." Saspra said to the other trainer with a smile.

"Same to you Saspra." Piney did the same and recalled her Pokemon. "You did a great job Era. You deserve a rest."
Glancing back at the trainer, she gave her a smile and turned to leave. "I hope we battle again someday!"
