Synopsis Title: The Homecoming...and Researching Ball Pythons Date: Friday July 25th, 2008
After dropping Rysha and Tryst off at their apartment, Riley had taken Emmet back to his own apartment;
of course this apartment was just one of many, and the most recent one. The ride was a very quiet one,
occassionally he would hear a little hiccup from the backseat...and it was awkward, oh so awkward. Riley didn't know what to say to Emmet, and Emmet didn't know what to say to Riley. What a beautiful start, Riley thought with an unimpressed snort.
After parking in his designated spot, he took the little snakeling out of the back seat, and ended up carrying the little boy into the apartment. The scaled tot was intent on not letting his grip loosen off of Riley, even as he took a tour of the rather small apartment. "I suggest not going near those." Riley told the boy honestly, when he showed him the room full of computers. "And well...right now its only a two room apartment...this room and my room. I guess you'll have to sleep in my room." Riley mused outloud; he figured the "good" people at D-Corp wouldn't appreciate him making a toddler sleep on the couch.
Throughout the whole tour, Emmet didn't say one word. He just started at the things from one room to the next with a wide-eyed, horrific expression. This was all so new...and Tryst wasn't around to help him through it! The idea made him hug his weedle plushie closer, and to hiccup again in a threat to cry.
"What? No, don't cry, please...I'll try to make this work I promise!" The military man pleaded with the small boy, awkwardly patting his back. "It'll only be until we get a house together, and you can be with your sister again and you won't have to worry about anything. I just need you to be brave and...not...cry...until then, okay?" There was a small nod from the boy to show he understood, and Riley went back to showing Emmet the "house", and getting him settled.
Luckily for him the boy wasn't much for clothes; moving him in was a lot easier than anything.
---
Later that night, when Emmet was asleep in what used to be Riley's room, the military man was on one of his many computers, researching Leucistic Ball Pythons...and information on how to raise small children.
We'll have to find out later if he actually learned anything from it.

Synopsis Title: Emmet Learns his 1, 2, 3's! Date: NA
Riley had gotten a worksheet from D-Corp for Emmet, to help him learn his 1,2,3's. The Military man figured they were important, considering he had to start at some point. So he sat Emmet down one day, and managed to teach him his numbers. It was a difficult going, but with the help of the Joker toy that Emmet had, and some crackers that metaphorically meant bad deeds on this particular day, Emmet learned his numbers.
"One, two, three, four, five..." There was a pause as he went through their little story they created to help him. The Joker went to the zoo. He saw one owl, two turtles, three trees, four flaming-gos, and five flowers. He took a break from walking around the zoo, and while he was sitting down he counted six sticks, and when he went to the bathroom he found seven soaps and a nest that had eight eggs in it. When he left the park he found nine needles from a pine tree, and he grinned wide enough to show ten teeth. "...six...seveneightnineten!" He said quickly, holding his pretty coloured sheet of paper infront of him. "Can I go to Romeo's now?"
"Good job Emmet." Riley said honestly, ruffling the boy's white-blue hair. "And yes, go put your heating pad in your bag." The military man said, shooing the boy off.

Synopsis Title: Sleepover Aftermath; Being a Father? Date: NA
They can be a handful yes, but it is worth it. They are sweet children and when you watch them sleep, or when something so simple makes them smile, or they give you hugs, it is all worth it.
Marco had said those words to him the day before, and Riley had been thinking about it ever since. How could something like that be worth it? There had been no bursts of stars or floods of warm fuzzy Paternal feelings whenever Emmet gave him a hug or clung to him...and he didn't think that something like that could ever exist, really. It seemed pointless...all those were were simple little motions that everyone had at some point in their life. Regardless, the triplets were lucky to have gotten a Father like Marco...and Riley pitied Emmet for being stuck with a Father like him.
The little Snakeling had been disappointed to leave Romeo's house, but the trip home proved to be a chatty one. Emmet had recounted everything that happened when he slept over, even the things that Riley had been there for...like his embarassment over dinner. The military man listened to his usually quiet charge chatter away, but he really was listening and when he could spare it, he was watching the snakeling's expression and movements.
He really did smile over the simple things. It was only bubbles in a bath.
After a side trip to the store to get Emmet some bubblebath, the two went home for a simple dinner...and Emmet kept talking, repeating the same stories he'd heard already, and already experienced. After dinner, Emmet had given his leg a big hug and a big beaming thank you for letting him go to Romeo's for the night. Riley pet Emmet's head as a your welcome, and then went to bathe Emmet for the night.
Which was when he heard about the bath he had with Romeo again, and he played with the bubbles like they were the greatest thing in the world. Which pretty much surprised Riley; he didn't think Emmet had it in him to get this excited over things. Bath time was over far sooner than Emmet would have wanted, and the snakeling settled down on Riley's bed to watch TV while the military man himself went to finish cleaning the dishes from dinner.
Half hour later Riley returned to tell Emmet it was time for bed...but the snakeling seemed to beat him to it. There in the middle of a big bed was a little snakeling, cluthing a pillow against him and so relaxed in his deep sleep that his mouth wide open. Riley leaned against the doorframe, his arms crossing over his chest as he watched the slumbering tot for a little while. When he hadn't expected to feel any sort of Paternal feelings, he had clearly never seen Emmet asleep. His face was rounded and completely innocent, barred from all the real horrors of the world...and so trusting to fall into such a deep sleep. Riley never went to sleep without a pistol of some sort within arms reach, and he definitely never slept as soundly as Emmet. Really though, any child sleeping with a mouth wide open was priceless, absolutely priceless.
Letting out a little tsking noise, he pushed off from the doorframe and walked over towards Emmet, putting a blanket overtop of him and lightly ruggling his very pale hair. Riley left the room then, submitting to Marco's words; it really was worth it, this whole parenting thing. Who else was going to make sure the little ones stayed that innocent for as long as possible?

Synopsis Title: Emmet Learns half of his ABC's! Date: NA
Once more, it seemed that Riley was supposed to figure out how to teach Emmet something. This time though, it was his ABCs. Which was fine, because like numbers Emmet needed to learn...and it really was helpful that he had those worksheets from D-Corp to help him out. When he sat Emmet down one night to learn them, he was expecting it to be worse than when Emmet learned to count to ten.
"The first one is A." Riley Offered.
"A." Emmet said, colouring in the first letter. "Whats this?" He asked then, pointing to the picture behind the A. "Aligator." Riley replied simply, half doing paperwork of his own and half listening to Emmet. "Oh. What colour are Amigators?" Emmet asked, staring at the crayons in front of him. "Aligators. They're green, I guess, Or Brown. The next letter is B." Riley murmured, and Emmet coloured away.
"B." Emmet said next, chattering away. "That looks like a dragon. Does dragon begin with B?" The little snakeling asked in awe, staring intently at Riley. "No, Dragon begins with a D,. I don't know what that is...but book begins with B." He offered, then let Emmet colour as he wanted. "C is next."
"C...is for..." Emmet stared hard at the little picture. "Cat!" Riley made a noise of agreement. "Yep, and the next letter is D."
"D for Dragon!" Emmet remembered, colouring furiously. "E is next...as in Emmet's Easter Egg."
"E for Emmet and Egg." The snakeling repeated with the utmost pride that a small child could have, colouring in the pictures. "Okay, whats next?" Riley told him it was F like Fire, and after that came G like Gold and H for Hawk.
"Okay, whats this one?" He said, pointing to "I". "I. Like Igloo." Riley looked over at Emmet's colouring and chuckled a bit. Well, the kid was trying at least. "Riley, whats an igloo?" He asked curiously, looking at his crayons on confusion. "An igloo is a house made of ice. Its cold." They weren't much fun to live in, but he was sure the Canadians managed just fine. "Okay. What colour is cold?" Emmet piped up innocently, and was honestly confused when Riley burst out laughing.
Riley did his best to explain, and then went on to teach him J for Jello (this one had visuals when Riley got them a snack), K for Kangaroo and L for Love.

Synopsis Title: Emmet's BC's Part 2 Date: NA
Riley had thought it was about time to finish the ABCs with Emmet. Life had been a little weird lately, what with the sickness the twins went through, the new home, and of course obtaining a new and more than often unwanted addition to the family. But it was time! So he sat Emmet down and had him recite what letters of the alphabet he knew, and the numbers he knew as well.
Once that was straightened out, he brought out the sheets for the last half of the alphabet, handing it over to Emmet to colour as he learned.
They had just gotten to the letter S when Stella walked into the room, munching on some M&Ms. Of course seeing Riley and Emmet together caught her attention, and before anyone knew it she was clinging to the table to look at the sheets.
"S is for Stella." She giggled out, offering an M&M to Emmet after he shyly repeated it back to her.
"Stella, where did you get those?" Riley asked suspiciously, eyeing the bag of candy.
"I found them bye bye!" She replied happily before running off, seeing Riley about to get really mad. The military man had been torn between running after her and staying put to help Emmet...he decided to do the latter.
"T is for Tryst!" Emmet said happily after Stella had left, his uneaten M&M pushed off to the side, suspecting poison from his less-than-normal sister. The rest of the alphabet went off without a hitch, and by the end of the day Emmet was singing the alphabet song happily.
