2.1 DiscoveryLate one night, there was a knock at the door. The husband and wife looked at each other. It was too late for visitors and their home was too far off the main road for a casual passer-by. Alitra paused in her sewing as her husband put down the bridle he was mending and crossed the room to the door. Phynis opened the wooden door to a cloaked hooded figure. In the evening moonlight, he could see a horse and small wagon waiting in the yard. Thin hands pushed the hood back. "I'm sorry to disturb you at this time of night, but I've lost my way." The old woman, aged, but with an air of elegance, looked up at him. Wispy tendrils of white hair caressed her face from the blustery night air. "No bother at all,” said Phynis. “ Come inside out of the wind." "I seldom travel alone at night and I must have taken a wrong turn some where. I was sure I’d have reached Dorhaven by now, then I saw the light of your cottage.” She spoke in soft tones. Her voice betrayed that she was an educated lady, though her clothes depicted a lower status. “Could you tell me if I’m on the right road to Dorhaven?" "If you head back down the road you came here on, you'd find the main road easy enough in the day time,” said Phinys, “but it might be difficult in the dark. And it will add to the time to get to Dorhaven.” “It would very late when you reach town if you try to go there tonight,” said Alitra, getting up to greet their visitor. “It wouldn’t be proper for us to let you go back out on the road this late. You're welcome to stay the night here." "Your offer is very tempting,” said the woman with a grateful smile. “I've been sitting on that wooden seat for many hours." "It's settled then," said Phynis. "I'll tend to your horse." The old woman followed him to the door and watched him lead the dappled gelding to the barn. “His name is Cobble,” she called after him. "Your animal is in good hands,” said Alitra warmly. “Phynis will feed him and brush him down." “And I’ve forgotten my own manners,” said the woman apologetically. “I’ve given you my horse’s name and neglected to give you mine. I’m Semorah.” "Come and sit by the fire, Semorah. I’m Alitra and my husband, as I mentioned, is Phynis. Let me get something warm for you to drink. Are you hungry?" “Just the warm drink, said Semora, “It will do nicely to warm my bones.” She sat down in comfy chair as Alitra disappeared into the kitchen. She gazed about the room. The small cottage was tidy with a comfortable homey feel to it. Alitra reappeared carrying a tray of steaming mugs. “I hope you like hot cocoa.” “Sounds lovely,” Semora said, accepting the warm mug. Alitra set the tray on table. She picked up a mug for herself and settled back into her chair, her sewing forgotten. Semora and Alitra chatted with small talk until Phynis came back inside. Semora looked at him, a question on her face. He smiled at her. “Cobble has settled in and seems to be quite content with the oats I gave him,” he said. Phynis picked up the last mug from the serving tray and quietly sat in chair. The conversation continued between the ladies while the farmer listened. He and his wife were always eager to hear of news from outside their small farm. Most of their updates on the happenings in Dorhaven came from the few traders they bartered with for goods. The evening’s verbal exchange varied from Semora’s tale of visiting her family in XXXXX(to be supplied later), to Alitra and Phynis sharing the details of their farm life. The young couple were happy to talk about themselves when Semora asked, though they could hardly understand why the seemingly highly educated woman would be interested in their modest farm life. They in turn asked Semora about her life in Dorhaven and learned that she taught scribing at the University. Creaks were heard from the stairs leading to the upper level. All heads turned to watch as a young girl in a night shift stepped around the corner and into the room. She pushed a few loose strands of her tousled brown hair away from her face. "I heard a strange voice," she said. "Semora, this is my daughter, Quillavee,” introduced Alitra. “Quill, Semora will be staying the night in the extra room.” “Pleased to meet you,” said Quillavee, her bare feet making no noise on the wooden floor as she walked over to stand next to her mother’s chair. “I’m very happy to meet you as well,” Semora answered back. “Quill, there is some leftover cocoa on the stove if you want to go warm it up,” Alitra told her daughter. She chuckled when Quillavee sprinted to the kitchen for the hot cocoa. “Charming child,” said Semora. “She’s very helpful around the place,” Phynis said. Semora noted the pride in his voice. “A bit absent-minded sometimes though,” Alitra added with a smile. Qulliavee returned shortly with a mug held in both hands. She sat down on a cushion by her father’s chair. Blowing softly on her cocoa before sipping, Quillavee regarded the old woman talking to her mother. She noted the fine fabric of the older woman’s traveling dress. The cut of the dress was simple. Quillavee thought of embroidery designs that she would sew on the dress if it were hers. She listened with interest to the tales the elderly educator shared about living in Dorhaven. When conversations died down due to the late hour, Alitra showed Semora to a small bedroom on the first floor. Phynis shooed Quillavee back upstairs to her room, then went outside for a last check on the animals in the barn. When Alitra was assured that Semora didn’t need any more pillows or blankets, she left the older woman to settle in for the night. As soon as Semora was alone in the room, she quietly opened the window and a small dragon hopped to the windowsill. He trilled in happiness to be with Semora and not hiding anymore. “Shhh, Seeker,” she cautioned the honey colored dragon. “We don’t want to arouse any curiosities just yet.” She picked him up and cradled him in her arms, smoothing his soft blonde wings. He rubbed the top of his head under her chin. “You were right,” she mused. “We found what we were looking for. Let’s hope that we don’t encounter too much resistance in the morning when we try to take our new found treasure with us when we leave.” ....to be continuedUpdated 20 July 2008Note: My stories are always a work in progress. They get tweaked now and then, even after I think I've finished them. smile

2.2 (random short story) The auburn haired woman pulled exotic beaded necklaces from an ornately decorated pouch and hung them among the amulets and charm pendants already hanging on the twigs of a large branch. A second large branch stood on the other side of the entrance to the merchant’s small circular tent. Both branches were rooted in large decorative urns. “Those are lovely,” said Quill, walking up to admire the sparkling jewels. Whimsy, who usually rode on Quill’s shoulder had hopped down to sniff at the bags laying around the bases of the urns. The cats lazing in the sun watched the pale blue dragon. Spirit flew to the top of the tent and took his usual watchful perch on the merchant’s sign that read “Mirabella’s Magics”. “Why, thank you,” said the young woman. “This one,” she held up an amber pendant scribed with markings Quill had never seen before, “comes from the farthest depths of a dragon’s cave.” She handed it to the young wizard. Quill held up the pendant to catch the light. “Does it have any special magic?” she asked, marveling at the golden colors. “I’m afraid I don’t know it’s history. It could have any sort of magic attached to it.” After a pause, Mirabella added in a low tone, “Good or bad.” Quill looked back at the young woman wondering if the last words were meant as warning. Before she could ask, a commotion from inside the tent distracted the two women. Whimsy bolted from inside the tent with a colorful bag in her mouth. She was closely followed by a large black cat. Whimsy skidded to a stop behind Quill. The ebony feline stopped and hissed at Whimsy. Mirabella scooped up the cat. “My goodness! I guess Percy took a dislike to your pretty little dragon.” The cat growled at Whimsy from Mirabella’s arms. “I’m terribly sorry. She can be a bit too curious sometimes.” Quillavee turned around and picked up the nosey little dragon. “What do you have there?” Quill tried to take the bag away from Whimsy, but she stubbornly held on to it. Mirabella saw what the dragon had taken from the tent. Her green eyes narrowed. “Be careful with that. It’s very fragile.” “I’m very sorry. She’s usually better behaved than this.” Quill smiled apologetically at the merchant. “She’d very fond of pretty fabrics and likes to gather them.” Quill’s attempt to loosen the dragon’s toothy grip on the bag brought forth a squeal. Whimsy quickly wrapped her front legs around the bag and sunk her claws in to hang on to it. Mirabella reached out nervously, “Be careful!” “Whimsy! What is the matter with you?” Quill was very surprised at the little dragon’s behavior and not a little frightened by it. “I’m terribly sorry,” she said to Mirabella. “Maybe I should buy it from you.” “It wasn’t something I had intended on selling.” The young woman glanced around, hoping the mishap hadn’t attracted too much attention. “Are you sure?” Quill looked at the claws clutching the fabric. “I’m afraid it might get damaged if we try to take it away from her.” Quill decided she’d rather spend money on something she had no use for, rather than take the chance of hurting her young dragon. “I don’t have much money, but I could probably get more, if it’s something valuable.” She hoped she wasn’t setting herself up for the merchant to ask for a lot of gold for what might turn out to be nothing more than a bag of catnip. “Sometimes fate shows us a path that we are meant to take.” Mirabella named a price and to Quillavee’s relief, it was within reason. After Quill handed over the gold, the auburn haired merchant took the young wizard’s hand and placed the amber pendant in it. “This was meant to go with you as well.” Quillavee sputtered to say something. Mirabella held up a hand and said, “Now be off with you before your other dragon finds something to run off with.” Quillavee glanced up at Spirit. He’d been so quiet during the whole ruckus, she’d completely forgotten about him. It was unusual for him to have stayed out of the commotion like this. She was confused and barely knew what think. Quillavee didn’t even notice as Mirabella took her by the shoulders and turned her around. Whimsy, still in Quill’s arms, tightened her grip on the pouch. Mirabella gave Quill a gentle push to get the young wizard started walking away. Quill tried to think back through what had just happened and it was beginning to seem like a blur. (Work in Progress)

This Easter RP game is designed to have a new prompt message posted every other day. With everyone’s different schedules, I wanted to be sure to give everyone a chance to interact with others in the RP. In between the prompt message, NPCs or staff pets can post to add to the story if they like. Link to Easter RP game This is posted in an old guild. It just seemed kind of big to put in a PM.
If you'd rather see a sample of a CYOA type game, this is a CYOA that I designed and ran. I remembered this event after I started the less structured game above.

Quote: Welcome to the Winiko Easter RP Event! ~ ~ ~ Event timeframe: April 12th - April 20th ~ ~ ~ General Rules: Keep the OOC chatter in brackets and to a minimum! Go to the main shop for extended chatter, questions, side plotting, whatever!
Link a picture in your intro post so we know what character(s) you are bringing to the table. You may use our hosted cert images/thumbs for this.
If you RP in a chosen color for a wini please try to stick with it, it gets confusing if a character's colors bounce around. Also, please pick a legible color!
Follow normal RP etiquette and remember Sully will kick you out if you are a pain in the rump. Respect each other, and the rules of the shop. Day 1 Prompt A bright, spring day for enjoying picnics, egg hunts, wearing pretty hats and consuming lots of chocolate. Blankets are laid out in a wooded clearing displaying mounds of cupcakes and cookies decorated with bright cheery colors. Winikos mingle while the Easter Bunny passes out beribboned baskets, Easter eggs and chocolate treats.Come join the Fun! Bring your friends! Food and prizes for all! Come join the festivities. Sample the food, hunt for Easter eggs, chat with friends. Despite the festive air though, there seems to be a sense of something not quite right. A feeling of something about to happen.Day 3 Prompt The sky darkens, but the sunshine is not being invaded by rain heavy clouds. A crackling in the air sends tingles to the skin. Movement around the picnic area brings a sense of dread.
Wraiks emerge from the surrounding woods. They walk by the blankets of food kicking at the mounds like a bully would kick down a sand castle. Mutterings can be heard as the Wraiks cast spells on the pretty baskets and colorful eggs. Some of the baskets fray and fall apart. Some of the Easter eggs shed their bright colors. The Easter Bunny hops up to shoo them away. In a crack of thunder and a poof of smoke, the Wraiks are gone. And with them, the Easter bunny. The Wraiks have bunny-napped the Holiday Hare! Are you indignant that they would try such a thing? Or are you just glad they didn’t take all the food? Do you gather together to go form a plan to get the bunny back? Or do you strike out alone? Or do you stay and salvage what you can of the food? (There are no right or wrong choices. Just RP and have fun!)
Day 5 Prompt What appeared to be a magical disappearance was merely a smoke screen to hide the bandits as they ran off with their prize. Once the smoke cleared, a trail of frilly baskets and Easter eggs can be seen leading away from the picnic area. Strewn like bread crumbs, the Easter Bunny has left a trail to help anyone who is brave enough to try to rescue him.Are you brave enough to take on a band of Wraiks? Or do you tag along to see what the others will do? Or do you choose to stay and guard what’s left of the food? (There are no right or wrong choices. Just RP and have fun!)
Roll a 10-sided dice with your first post. You only need to roll a dice once. If a player rolls more than once, only their first roll will be counted. 1, 5, 10 means you’ve picked up a basket. 2,3,4,6,7,8,9, means you’ve picked up an egg. Hang onto these items, they hold surprises! Day 7 Prompt A Wraik appears in the path ahead of you. Gloating drips off her as she laughs at you. “You silly demons are pathetic in your puny attempts to find your white rabbit. You’ll never get him back,” she cackles. “Your fluffy friend will be turned to the dark side!” Her body fades from view as her words die in the air.
Another voice, owner unseen, whispers, “Your pretty holiday is now ours. It’ll become dark and twisted.”If you have a Wraik that wants to throw a few taunts at the searchers, you’re welcome to have them poof in and out. Remember to play nice with others.
The Wraiks couldn’t help themselves. They had to boast about their victory over the Winiko. In doing so though, they left clues behind on where they’d taken the Easter Bunny.(There are no right or wrong choices. Just RP and have fun! Throw out any clues you want to make up to find the Easter Bunny.)
Day 9 Prompt The fog thins to reveal the holiday havoc wreaking Wraiks. More of the Easter bunny’s baskets and eggs lay strewn about. The baskets have been deflowered and the pretty eggs have turned dark and smelly. In the center of it all, one Wraik has the Easter bunny pinned to the ground with a claw on his ear. Bunny looks at you pleadingly. The Wraiks seem a little surprised that you’ve found them.
You find they recover quickly though when eggs start hurtling in your direction. They’ve used their dark magic to turn the pretty eggs into something gooey and disgusting. Roll a 10-sided dice with each post to see how well you dodge the flying eggs. (1-5 = You duck really fast and the egg misses, 6-10 = maybe you only think faster than you move, because the egg found its mark.) You may edit your posts, but please do not delete any.
How will you free the Easter Bunny? Will you rush them, hoping they’ll run away? Do you have a sneaky plan to get the bunny back? Remember to play nice with others and keep it PG13.
Day 11 Conclusion The Winiko triumph and win the Bunny’s freedom. (More details for this paragraph will come from the RP and how it was played.) I was thinking that the players could post one more time and roll a dice to determine what they might find in their egg or basket. Or if you have a different way to determine who gets what, then this could be the concluding post. And then the post of the prizes won. Quote: Eggs (1 item)/ Baskets (2 items) Some will open and reveal herb/potions Some will open and reveal amulets Some will open and reveal familiars
Egg familiars suggestions - Egg Idea from Rise of the Guardians Some will sprout legs and follow you around Some will open eyes and gaze at you dreamily Some will grow mouths and chatter at you incessantly

(to be posted on Friday night.) The sky darkens. The edges of the woods grow hazy. A crackling in the air tingles the skin. A sense of dread moves into the area.
A shadowy Wraik emerges from the surrounding woods. More Wraiks, followers of the shadowy figure, appear all round the picnic area. Walking into the picnic with an air of superiority, the Wraiks stomp through food covered blankets like a bully kicking down a sand castle. Mutterings can be heard as dark magic invades the once festive scene. The woven straw in the Easter baskets fray and pop. The shiny ribbons fade and wilt. Some of the Easter eggs shed their pretty bright colors.
The Easter Meiko floats over to shoo them away. In a crack of thunder and a poof of smoke, the Wraiks are gone. And with them… the Easter Meiko!
The Wraiks have bunny-napped the Easter Icon!
Are you indignant that they would try such a thing? Or are you just glad they didn’t take all the food? Do you gather together to go form a plan to get the bunny back? Or do you try to salvage what you can of the food? (There are no right or wrong choices. Just RP and have fun!)

2.7 Prompt # 3 - 4/7/14 What appeared to be a magical disappearance was merely a smoke screen to hide the bandit Wraiks as they ran off with their fluffy prize. The last of the wispy smoke drifts away revealing sparkles of color leading away from the picnic area and into the surrounding woods. Strewn like bread crumbs, the Easter Meiko has left a trail of Easter eggs in hopes that there is someone brave enough to try to rescue her.Who is brave enough to follow the bread crumbs? Are you ready to take on a band of Wraiks? Do you just tag along to see what the others will do? Do you choose instead to stay and guard what’s left of the food? (There are no right or wrong choices. Just RP and have fun!)
Roll a 100-sided dice with your RP post. If you forget to roll, you'll need to wait until your next post to roll again. No rolling without a RP post. You can roll as many times as you post a reply.

2.9 The air snaps with the same crackling that brought the Wraiks to the Easter Picnic. A dark mist mingles through the trees around you. More eggs strewn on the ground lead a path through the mist. These eggs though have a dark and evil feel to them. Shadowy figures dart about through the mist. The gleeful cackling has changed to worried muttering. Your efforts to find the band of bunny-napping Wraiks has brought you closer to their hiding spot. Will you find them before it's too late for Easter Meiko? Roll a 100-sided dice with each RP post. No rolling without a RP post. If you reply more than once, you can roll a dice with each RP post. This time, the lowest numbers will be winners.
The dark mist thins to reveal the holiday havoc wreaking Wraiks. Deflowered baskets and once colorful eggs lay scattered everywhere. Exposure to the dark Wraik magic has turned the pretty eggs into something dark and smelly.
In the center of it all, a Wraik minion has the Easter Meiko pinned to the ground with a claw on her ear. The Meiko's blue eyes look to you pleadingly. The rest of the Wraik minions seem a little surprised that you’ve found them. They turn worried looks to their leader.
The vibrant leader steps in front of the Easter Meiko, blocking your view. "You shall not pass!" he growls. "Minions, Attack!" Recovering quickly, the minions start hurtling smelly eggs in your direction.
If you have a Wraik that wants to throw a few eggs at the rescuers, you're welcome to bring them in and play. Whether the egg finds its mark will depend on the target's dice roll. Remember to play nice and keep it PG13. RP event will end Monday (4/21) at midnight (EDT). This is the last RP prompt.

2.10 Prompt #3 - 4/7/14 Easter Egg Trail - players roll 100-sided dice. Three highest rollers win the eggs Prompt #4 - 4/10/14 Wraik Taunts - invite players with Wraik to join the dark side Prompt #5 - 4/14/14 Shadow Wraik reappears - This is a new prompt. I'd like to give out 3 more eggs, if that's ok. These would darker eggs. After rolling a 100-sided Dice, the lowest numbers would win these eggs. Prompt #6 - 4/17/14 Egg Fight- Players roll a 10-sided dice to see if they get hit with the eggs. Prompt #7 - 4/21/14 Winiko demons rescue the Easter Meiko. I'd also thought about giving out some awards afterwards for things like, the longest post (per pet), the most posts (per pet), the most pets rp'ed by 1 person, etc. Could I get more eggs for that? Also, if I understand correctly, only RP participants are eligible to win the Easter Meiko and the Shadow Wraik, right?

2.15 Welcome to the Demon Days of Summer RP Event! Everyone is welcome to join in as the winiko celebrate the end of summer with an annual party by the beach in the Inbetween.
This is just for fun and a chance for everyone to get together. There will be gift bag prizes randomly handed out in this thread by Sully as we go. Pop in for a quick bite to eat or get cozy and enjoy the party! Day (Lural) will be leading a storyline progression RP line introducing new shop items so feel free participate!
~ ~ ~ Event timeframe: Aug 15th - Aug 31st, bags to open in Sept! ~ ~ ~
General Rules: Keep the OOC chatter in brackets and to a minimum! Go to the main shop for extended chatter, questions, side plotting, whatever!
There are no humans in the the Void/Inbetween, and they aren't invited anyway lol.
The gift bags will be opened at the end of the event, and the nature of the new items will reveal themselves throughout the rp!
...::: Setting ::... Although the Inbetween can be a harsh and wild place, it harbors great beauty and tranquility as well. A place where reality thins and the lines blur, out of sight and out of knowledge of most creatures. This is where demons walk freely between our world and the next. Our setting is a vast field of green grass edged by an ancient forest of deciduous trees to the north, and a shimmering red sea to the southwest. The eternally setting sun casts a warm orange pink glow across the scene, causing long shadows. Waves curl up and gently bathe the golden beach. The steady hum of lazy summer bugs sets the mood only occasionally accented by the cry of an ocean bird or howl of a distant demon. A gentle sea breeze ruffles the leaves of trees, and the sparkling lights of fireflies wink in and out of sight.
