Despite expecting foals at anytime, she was truly happy. She was with the one that made her feel like she did when her parents were still around, and now, she was carrying his children. The thought of her parents was a bit upsetting, but she wouldn't be like them, she would stay by her children's sides, no matter how old the got, though... to this day, she still doesn't know why they left in the first place.
At his questions, she giggled softly, but let out a tired snort. Slowly, she walked to his side and carefully leaned against him, legs starting to get tired from bearing the extra weight. "I don't know... it could be any day or any moment now. As for genders, we'll just have to wait and see." A small thought came to her then, randomly remembering her 'son' Spot. She will have to locate a basket or two to place the foals into once they do come.

He nuzzled against her neck and let her lean on him. She looked tired, and the burden of carrying the foals, his children, seemed to be getting to her. His grin softened as he gazed at her protruding belly and he felt his heart start to flutter in excitement. He knew Charl was going to be a wonderous mother, just like his own.
His smile disappeared at the thoughts of his gentle mother, and her passing away filled his mind as he gazed at the grass under his hooves. The memories resurfaced for a few moments before he pushed them away and turned to look at Charl once more.
“Would you like to lie down?” He wanted her resting safely on the earth before she got to tired and simply fell over. Edward would stay beside her, and would never leave her again, even if she wanted him to.

She nickered softly as he nuzzled against her neck, returning the sign of affection to him. She also let out a heavy breath. Though motherhood was a wonderful thing and she had always hoped to become a mother, quite happy with her current state... it was also a strain she wasn't totally prepared for. Or at least, her legs weren't.
At his offer, the spotted mare looked to him and nodded softly. "Yes... that sounds good." She replied softly, shifting so she could push off from leaning against his side, with some difficulty.

She was so strong, because he was sure that carrying his children was straining on her, but she never complained about it. She had tried to pull away from him to try and lay down by herself without his help, but he followed her movement and with his help they slowly lowered her to the ground. He felt such pride and happiness looking at the beautiful pregnant mare, the glow that surrounded her seemed to brighten the world, and he found himself smiling down at her, as he had already backed a few steps away to give her some space.
“Better now?” He asked while he leaned down to nuzzle his nose against her ears and mane, blowing softly and causing the strands to flutter.

She snorted softly as she lowered herself gently to the ground with his help, tucking her legs underneath herself once she got into a comfortable position. Once down, she gave a small, relieved whinny. Ever since reuniting with Edward, her heart felt all 'a'twitter', even more so now, than when she first found out she was pregnant. It was like a dream come true. Her soft green eyes looked up to the stallion as he gave her some space. Could he be the one? Perhaps it was too soon to start thinking like this? She didn't know him for that long after all... but, around him, she felt truly happy. Not so alone.
At his question, she nodded and smiled, "Much, thank you." Her ears flicked lightly from him nuzzling and breathing over them. A thought soon came to mind that caused her to worry briefly, ears folding back momentarily. "Edward." She bit her bottom lip in fret, "when the foals do come... will you stay? Even if they reach a certain age of 'independence'?" She didn't want to bring it up, but she didn't want the same thing that happened to her, to happen to her children. Nor did she enjoy the thought of being a single parent.

Her question didn’t come as a surprise, since it seemed that it could happen so easily. Hell, his own father had done it to his family. To his mother. The memory of his mom had him closing his eyes and giving a deep sigh. She had wasted away until she got sick and finally left, never to come back. He would never wish this on this mare, never to her.
“Of course I will stay, I would love having a family with you.” Sure, he was worried about how good of a dad he would be, and always there was that fear that he would be like his own father, but for her he would try to be the best he could. For her and for their children. “Together we can do this.” He motioned to her obviously full belly. “We really can.”

She watched as Ed closed his eyes, seemingly thinking about something. She had to wonder if she had asked the wrong question and brought up bad memories. She knew nothing of his past, or even if he had any siblings or anything like that. Though she was concerned, she was not going to pry, if he wanted her to know he would tell her in his own time.
Hearing that he would stay, her eyes lit up and she beamed a warm smile at him. "It makes me extremely happy to hear you say this Ed." She told him, nickering softly. When he motioned to her belly, she glanced to it as well, smile seeming to be plastered to her face now, happy to hear that they could do it together, nodding in agreement.
Suddenly, that smile she had quickly faded as a weird feeling hit her stomach. "Oh!" She exclaimed in surprise and a bit worried. This feeling wasn't like a normal kick she would normally experience, it was more like a cramp of some sort. Awkwardly, she stumbled back onto her hooves when it started to get really uncomfortable being on the ground. Could she really be THAT far along? Now she was starting to get scared, not expecting to be going into labor, otherwise she would have stayed behind like Surgir had said to.

”Charl, are you ok?” He moved closer to her. She had a panicked look on her face and appeared to be deep in thought. Were they kicking? He moved to where he could seew her belly more clearly. It was so full it looked close to bursting.
He then saw it move. He blinked his eyes in shock and then moved closer to put his nose closer to her stomach. “My kid is in there.” He whispered in awe. It was strange to think that he could have a child, he never thought of himself being dad material. But he was coming to like the idea.

"I-I'm fine." She replied in a soft but strained voice. The kicking she was now experiencing felt significantly different than how they did when they first started happening. Her fears of being a new mother was starting to resurface again. Another kick. This one was a lot stronger as her head bowed in deep pain. Truly now wasn't the time, she didn't feel ready and she didn't want to worry Edward.
Lifting her head, she looked to the stallion who seemed to be admiring her squirming belly. Despite the pain, she couldn't help but give a warm, weak smile at how endearing his amazement seemed to be. It was faint, but she chuckled at his comment, hiding a wince, but it still caused her to shudder. "I think it is more than one E-" Suddenly, she let out a deep groan as her legs buckled. They were coming, she could feel it, as her eyes shut tight and she clenched her teeth.

"Whoa! Whats wrong? Are you okay? Are...Are they ok? More than one?!" He thought about it and maybe he wasn't dad material. He started pacing back and forth next to her quivering body. Was this really happening? Her stomach was bulging and his eyes grew wide. Yes,, this was really happening.
Nervousness crept inside him and through his chest, causing his heart to constrict and his breathing to grow heavy. Panic was causing dots to pop before his eyes. No, I need to calm down. I can't panic. Need to be strong...be strong Ed! He shook his head in an attempt to clear his nervous thoughts and stopped pacing. Leaning down, he gently whispered close to her face, "Charl, I'm not sure what to do...What can I do?"

As the pain continued, Charlamagne began to feel bad that she didn't listen to Surgir's advice and stay at the teepee. Now look at her... about to give birth so far away from the teepee and a human that could help. She snorted in pain, scared of what was coming. She looked to Edward for support, but it seemed he was nervous as well. When he brought his face close to her, she pressed the side of her face to it. "I-I'm not sure. A...a human would know what to do." She told him, her voice raspy from fear and a sudden contraction.
