yeah I was just thinking that like none of can truly say we aren't afraid of dying cause that's a pathetic lie, if we weren't afraid of dying we'd be off jumping off cliffs and seizing the day, not wasting our days at the computer. no excuses...

Thats what I AM doing. I live life like jason bourne lol. Have you ever been in a theater? Like a good one? Do you know what the grid is? Its a sheet of metal bars that depending on the play, you need people to actullay drop stuff through the bars OUR actually run objects across it if there to small to flown above the stage. you have to run up a rope ladder, carrying swords if the costume room is full our there is no time to do so.

I dont do that job BUT I hanged on those bars like monkeys bar. You might not have the courage, but some of us WOULD jump off a cliff just so we could grab on to a branch. some of us WOULD get into a fight for the thrill. some of us DO take risks like this once a week.

call us junkies, but we are a fearless group, that when a time comes where we should be, will be there.

I believe that we are judged when we die, to a extent anyway. We are all in essence returning to the astral BUT we are rewarded for acts and deeds we have accomplished in life. That means there is a place for the fearless.'

Im on a computer for this guild, and because its basically a requirement to be on most social networking sites for my school

I'm not afraid to die, anymore. Not even a little.

Today a girl asked me for my number, and I gave it to her, and we hung out. I spent the rest of the day bragging to my gf in Kansas whom I love more than life. I got 6 possible jobs to support the farm I live at with the friends whom I love. I don't get on this guild often enough, because I'm too busy in the real world.

Do I seize the day as much as I could or should? Of course not. Do I look back on my life so far, my accomplishments, failures, and story up till now, and say "Who else in the worlds could have been remotely like me? Who could have carved the path that I did?" And I say no one.

I'm not perfect. I don't want to be in pain, I still dislike that. But I'm okay with death. Even okay with an afterlifeless dark oblivion. No more me? No problem.

its part of magic in way, I mean the study. You are playing with a other worldly force, that unlike what a lot of books will tell you, can kill you if your not careful. If you study magick your not just playing in fire, you are playing with napalm. Life is very beautiful, but dieing makes it more beautiful, its the price of living. That being said, death should not be feared because you are paying the cost for life. Its in this way, I am not affraid.

Id like to quote the arcade game ikaruga if I may.

I will not die until I achieve something.

Even though the ideal is high, I never give in.

Therefore, I never die with regrets.

the quote from level 1
Undesired, unwanted them,
What makes them go?
It is nothing else than the
principle of the man who
has the reason for being.

Do you understand the meaning of that? The first quote, the intro is saying that if you have a goal, and your life is on the line, there is no fear. There is no reason for there to be a fearful, your dieing on the road to achieve something.

The second one is saying, that life is in the hands of the owner. You can do anything, and mean anything with your life. If you do that, then you have a reason for living.

With those 2 ideas, there is no reason to fear death.

But the meat bags that we truly are can't do that! Please that's a horrible attempt to make a point when in truth every person crawls like a pitiful pig in the mud to save their own skin. Sure there is some level of heroism won't we call it. But if you were on a floor with someone cutting the fingers from your hand one by one, "Each one for every time you lie!" im sure it would go so amazingly dramatic in your mind, but in truth your body wont even let you lie like that. Your adrenaline will be pumping you so full of truth serum you'd be screaming "Mommy!" before I even cut you once. We can't get past survival instinct we play pathetic attempts to save our skin death is the pitiful attempts of animals. Unless..... it's quick and painless like you assume everything is. Sure I agree it can be beautiful, but certainly not all death is. It's more pain than your brain can take and no amount of magic or meditation can take that away at our level.

And than of coarse I could never ever get to your ideals of self actualization, because I can't get past step two, oh poor me, I'm a paranoid freak I can't stop being afraid I get stop worrying about my safety. So your little plan doesn't really apply. None of us can apply, cause we are simple, stupid beings.

part of me disagrees completely with what I just said O_o, this is me talking *hi* ^_^ but I think you have to be insane like me to not care, to want it. That's what it wants, it wants blood.

I'm not... quite sure what it is you said, but some parts of it I understood, I don't agree with. I do think people can get past survival instinct, otherwise there would be no sacrifices or risk taking to save others. Sure, I don't think it's an automatic thing that people could resist torture or stand up for something under so great a challenge. But I do think pain can be trancended like that. Shinto priests walk on knives, shamen walk on hot coals, tales are told of enlightened Zen monks who foresee their own deaths and lay down on their own burning funeral pyres.

Be very very careful, as I've succumed to this before, and it's easy to do. It's our human nature to take what we know, understand and experience, and apply it to other things. But our fears are not always shared, things that seem to us easy to understand often aren't, and just in general we assume that which just isn't true. One must be careful, instead of painting the universe from our own current understanding, we must open our experience that we might percieve the universe as it truely is. Always there is more than we know right now.
