This is a tough one. Yoda is probably more skilled than luke overall, but luke is still pretty strong,.. I don't think that you could really choose one, because there's no clear way of comparing the Jedi grandmaster luke and yoda.

I must agree with Sage and K. Yoda in his prime would demolish Luke in his prime. It'd be like a gang of starving hispanics at an all-you-can eat Taco Buffet. There'd be nothing left.

Though, I must also point out that Luke doesn't have all the Sith powers. Really, you don't have to be Sith or Jedi to use ANY power; all that refers to is ideology. A Sith Lord like, oh, who's a random one, Malak, is every bit as capable of healing himself as Yoda is, if he really wanted to. Only his ideology as a Sith dictates the use of Life Drain of Force Heal.

And still, I'd even go as far as to say Luke's not even as strong as Vader. Anakin was described as pure potential. The only reason Luke makes it to Jedi Master can be summed below:

- Error. Luke saw what Vader did, and how it $#@!ed him up. Seeing how it turned out, he could easily turn aside from temptation.

- Raising. Luke wasn't raised or heralded as a Chosen One. He grew up a farm boy. They waited years before deciding to start showing Luke the ways of the Force. Thus, he was more mature when he finally started learning them.

- Lack of choice. It was either Luke or no more Jedi. I'm exxagerating a bit, but comeon, Luke had to be all but brain-washed into being a Jedi, if Yoda was to have a future for the goodie-goodies. If yoda would've showed him a complete view of the force, including the various "Dark Side" powers, don't you think he would've been tempted?

But back to the point, I'd give my money to Yoda, hands down.

You forgot one.

Anakin was tempted because he wanted to save Padme. Luke didn't have a love interest until Expanded Universe.

Luke wins hands down. I mean Yoda was good, but Luke is the one... he's the balance. He would slaughter Yoda if a fight... if you put Yoda at his best and a more experienced and well trained Luke, Luke would kill him. I mean Luke took down Vader who was the strongest Sith of them all. And I know he didnt kill him, but he could have, by all means that was a win. And Ani was a well trained force mastered machine. But Luke creamed him.

LUKE FTW!

Luke isn't the balance, Anakin was the balance. Luke is just incredibly strong. And plus luke only barely beat vader when he was 50 something years old, and even then, he had to tap into the dark side.

Yoda, no contest.

I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to say Yoda...I admit my knowledge of Luke is limited to the movies, I haven't seen him in anything else. (But then again I haven't been looking.) the way I see it, the force is all about experience and patience, Luke got all whiny and bitchy when he couldn't do some of the things in his training, Yoda on the other hand is 900 years old (I think.), and has had that much time to perfect his skills in the force and with a saber. Luke will never live to be anywhere near that old so how can he be expected to hold even a fraction of the knowledge Yoda has.

In a duel of sabers, Yoda would definitely win, his small size and incredible agility would make him a hard target for anyone to hit, plus judging from his fights from movies, games, shows, ect. It always seems like he is able to force his opponent into a defensive state, it usually seems that if they want to live then they have to stay defensive in order to guard against Yoda's insanely swift attacks. I doubt Luke would be able to do anything more than block.

Yoda would also win in a contest of the force due to the fact that not only has he had centuries to learn about the light side of the force, but he also taught Luke most of what he knows, Yoda would be able to predict Luke's attacks pretty easily.

Palpatine was the strongest Sith. . . in the movies.
Anakin was stronger, until he got all cooped up in that suit. He can barely breathe, and he can't do anything with Sith Lightening.
And Luke wasn't the balance, Anakin was (supposed to be ninja )

Yoda would pwn the hell out of Luke. Have you seen him fight? That's one meany, greeny, weeny fighting machiney.

luke dont forget it was yoda who suggested to luke to be hidden from vador
luke has power to destroy vador and the sith he has the direct blood line from padme and anikin

I say it depends on what stage of life Luke is at and what stage of life Yoda is at. During the movies, Yoda was nearing his deathbed and Luke was about the level of a padawan. If that's the case, Yoda would win because Yoda had more force supremacy at the time. Now, if we were to take Yoda at his prime, around the time of or before his fight with Palpatine and Luke when he became a Jedi master, it would be a very close match, but I think Luke would win. He has the bloodline thing going for him which gives him a nice large boost, and his experience up to that point has been more combative and testing then the trials Yoda has faced in the past (or at least of what we know of his past), thus making him the stronger candidate.

In his prime, Yoda could've whippd Luke's whiny butt from Dagobah to Coruscant and back. Twice.

By the time he's 900 years old, Yoda still would've whipped Luke's butt, but maybe only to Geonosis or some other kinky Outer-Rim system.

I mean, seriously. Is that even a real question? It's like the Darth Maul or Emperor Palpatine thread. You gotta be kidding me.
