If they fought i wonder who would win? The old Jedi grandmaster or the new one?
PostPosted: Wed Jun 04, 2008 9:49 pm

Yoda, because he's dead and effectively one with the Force.

Unless we're talking Legacy era when they're both dead, and then I'd put my money on Luke Skywalker, because not only is he hardcore, but he somehow managed to pull himself from WHINY!LUKE to BADASS!MASTAH.

Then again, if they went at it on Dagobah, Yoda would skin Luke alive.

Nah, I just think Luke's too awesome to lose to a 900-year-old. Yoda could kick his a** in mind games, though. Fo' sho'. There really is no substance to this post.

Id say Luke, hes supposely the most powerful jedi. didnt yoda even admit it? Plus luke has all the powers of the sith and jedi, yoda may had some of them but he doesnt have all of them.

Since when does luke have ALL the powers of the sith and jedi....don't tell me he becomes super grey mary sue man later in legacy of the force...

I'd have to say that if yoda weren't decrepit, he would be able to take luke on with blind and with only one arm. Why? he's F***ing Yoda. The Green Muppet of Masterful Death. Honestly, if nothing else Yoda would mind game luke into distraction then win, and be like 'control, control, you must learn control.'

I must agree with Sage and K. Yoda in his prime would demolish Luke in his prime. It'd be like a gang of starving hispanics at an all-you-can eat Taco Buffet. There'd be nothing left.

Though, I must also point out that Luke doesn't have all the Sith powers. Really, you don't have to be Sith or Jedi to use ANY power; all that refers to is ideology. A Sith Lord like, oh, who's a random one, Malak, is every bit as capable of healing himself as Yoda is, if he really wanted to. Only his ideology as a Sith dictates the use of Life Drain of Force Heal.

And still, I'd even go as far as to say Luke's not even as strong as Vader. Anakin was described as pure potential. The only reason Luke makes it to Jedi Master can be summed below:

- Error. Luke saw what Vader did, and how it $#@!ed him up. Seeing how it turned out, he could easily turn aside from temptation.

- Raising. Luke wasn't raised or heralded as a Chosen One. He grew up a farm boy. They waited years before deciding to start showing Luke the ways of the Force. Thus, he was more mature when he finally started learning them.

- Lack of choice. It was either Luke or no more Jedi. I'm exxagerating a bit, but comeon, Luke had to be all but brain-washed into being a Jedi, if Yoda was to have a future for the goodie-goodies. If yoda would've showed him a complete view of the force, including the various "Dark Side" powers, don't you think he would've been tempted?

But back to the point, I'd give my money to Yoda, hands down.

Yoda, end of discussion. Luke never threw his lightsaber through a Clone Trooper's chest. Not to mention Yoda's duel with Palpatine was way more epic than anything Luke ever did.

Obviously Yoda. In more ways than just battle too, Luke wouldn't have been able to take on the political battle that Yoda had in the original Jedi Order.

That's a tough question. Luke, who is the son of the "Son of Suns" (AKA Anikan Skywalker), the strongest being made of purely the force; or Yoda, a Jedi Master of nearly 900 years. Well, at first you'd most likely say, Yoda of course, but let's look at Luke's repertoire.

Luke:
  • Defeated Ancient Sith Lords, some of the most powerful Sith Lords in History, with powers and knowledge not known during Yoda's time.
  • Has been on the brink of the darksider, several times, and has gained power, and knowledge from it.
  • Created, and trained some of the strongest force users there have been in a long time.

I don't know about you, but that list is already proof enough, Luke could hold his own agaist Yoda. And there's still many more, but those are the ones out of the top of my head. In a Lightsaber Duel, I'd say Yoda for sure, but in a battle of knowledge, and of the force, Luke would win.

  • I'd have to counter that with the fact that up until yoda's time the jedi order was baby snatching and not letting most of their jedi do the nasty to make more jedi babies. This resulted in a poor, sad little piddling number of force users, none of whom had kids. Now, if you look at evolution, generally the strong survive and pass on their strengths to their kids, who in turn get stronger in those strengths to become more favorable for mating....now, if you had let those force sensitives get trained in self control, then bump uglies, then have more kids who are born force sensitive, then those kids would be stronger in the force than their parents, even if only a little. However, if you're drawing from people who have spontaneously developed into force users, rather than inherited it from a line of ancestors, they can run the gamut of being strong to weak, mostly on the weak side.

As such, Yoda has to train a bunch of first generation force users and watch as their genetics die out, which would ultimately lead to a slow dwindling supply of force users who grow weaker and weaker. However, then Darth Vader came along and Ate the jedi order. With no more baby snatchers, the only force users being killed were ones too stupid to conceal their abilities or who ran around pretending to be jedi.

It was, what? 2, maybe 3 generations between the time of yoda as grandmaster and the time luke started his academy. Luke's choices for making new jedi were much better, for they had time to grow and plant some seeds and the seeds had time to grow into people, etc...

I am on Yoda side so I choose Yoda, but I like Luke better, but come on Yoda is Yoda plus Luke wasn't trained at a young age.

I think that Luke would claim victory in a conflict such as that, just because he has had experience as Luke "Starkiller", and also...learning some technques from the dark side of the force... His Father also had some "say" in this a well...he tought Luke teh fundamentals of his bounty hunting days, so...just to give him the general techniques, and abilities to become a skilled gunslinger...which Yoda is not... Although, Yoda has had his experiences with guns as well, when tought in the Padawan Training Facility, at Kashyykk...
