Richard_Swift tennantsbutterfly Way to make the show even better? Keep David! I think Moffat would agree, given that Tennant is his favourite Doctor ever (well, in joint first place with Davison anyway)! The ball's got to be very much in Tennant's court on this one. Myself, I really hope we get another full season out of him to ease the transition. If I'm honest then I hope Tennant stays in the role until he's older than Hartnell was, but being realistic then I'm just hoping for another full season. Same here. Hopefully, David will stay. I read somewhere that he is "informally committed" to the next series, but that was before RTD announced he was off, so he may change his mind. Hope he doesn't!

Oh, that's great news! I've loved all Moffat's episodes thus far, so with him in charge of the series, I'm confident that it'll be even more fantastic than before. And perhaps a bit spookier as well.
All they need to do now is put Catherine Tregenna in charge of "Torchwood", and then I will die of an overdose of awesomeness. Or something.

So long as both keep writing, I'm happy. I think they're both very good and would hate to see one replace the other entirely.

I've got a nasty feeling that Davies will just walk away, rather than wanting to be seen as a 'backseat driver.' I'd love to be proved wrong though - imagine if Robert Holmes' contributions to Who had ended when he stepped down as script editor!
Still, I was a fan of Davies' writing long before he ever got his hands on Doctor Who, so I'm excited whatever he does next now he's freed up to create new series again.

My first thought about this news was about the way all the TV guides keep mentioning him as the guy that introduced Jack. Knowing that, Jack's 2 missing years are his baby, right? So with him in charge, I reckon there's a good chance we'll hear about those years. Maybe. Hopefully.
Also, I wonder if there'll still be Random Gay with Moffat in charge...
Moffat's definitely my favourite (everyone's favourite!) writer for New Who (apart from Davies sometimes) so I wonder what it'll be like when he's more than just that writer though... well, we shall see!

ogs-chan Also, I wonder if there'll still be Random Gay with Moffat in charge... Very likely there will be. After all, Davies intended that Jack's sexuality remain very much a background detail, it was Moffat's script that brought it to the fore. It's also a Moffat script that more or less outed the Master. twisted Also, three little words for any of you familiar with Moffat's writing outside Who - "Lesbian Spank Inferno."

Richard_Swift "Does he still have that rubbish beard?" "Well...he had a wife." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beard_(female_companion) ...I didn't interpret that line that way at all. XD Are you sure it's not just that your mind translates everything into gay-lingo? ... I'm weird.

Nah, that's absolutely the gag Moffat intended.
Other interpretations are, of course, valid and interesting. What was yours?

There'd only be one way for the Master's wife to literally be his beard, and that would be...I'm stoping now before I start my second censorship debate. But suffice to say that it would involve an act of physical intimacy.
