In tagalog you can't identify the gender when you're talking to someone.. so it will be..

"Mahal ko si France" =I love France (this is applicable if you're talking to toher people and want them to know that you love him)

"Mahal kita France" = I love you France (if you're talking to the person who is France)

But we're talking about a place, not a person. So, it wouldn't be "Mahal ko si France" right? Unless France was someone's name...

And yes, katrina and Kokoroki is right, there is no genders in the words of tagalog.

There are some things that I have to correct. Natives from the Philippines are called Filipino not Philipino.

Another issue is the translation of "I love France." The translation "Mahal ko si France" or " Mahal kita France" are both incorrect since it assumes that France is a person ("si" and "kita" are only used when referring to a person). Hence, the proper translation would be "Mahal ko ang France," wherein "ang" serves like the article "the" and is applicable to any kind of noun.

Ironically, even some Filipinos still have mistakes in the proper use of their national language and it sometimes requires some good college education to realize such error. As an example, the word "subukan", which means "to secretly watch", is often mistakenly used to mean "to try". However, the correct word that means "to try" is subukin. (It uses the letter i instead of a in its suffix.)

Anyway, if you have any questions or need translation, just ask me.

Tee Hee! 'mahal kita', which I assume means "I love" something, is in Indonesian "expensive we".

Hey everyone!

I'm not even remotely Filipino, but I do work at a plant where the majority of the people are. Most of them barely understand English and revert to Tagalog when trying to communicate, which is why I'd like to learn at least a little bit so that I can communicate with my coworkers better.

I only recently realised that the chorus of 'The Apl Song' by Black Eyed Peas is in Tagalog! I always thought it was English! xd

To be more specific, mahal means love and kita refers to the person you are talking to so mahal kita means "(I) love you". Even in Tagalog, mahal may also mean expensive depending on its usage. Indonesian and Tagalog have some close similarities.

As for the Apl Song, Apl of the Black Eyed Peas is actually a Filipino and the song is about his life.
