I've been writing stories since I learned how to write. My mom still has some of my old stories...which are kinda embarrasing. But I love to write. I haven't finished any stories yet because I usually come up with new ideas while working on one story and I just have to write them down, then I come up with new ideas... sweatdrop

i write because it's a way of unleashing a demon inside that i cant let out ever in any other wayand it helps me work through my fears and beliefs. writing also gives me an excuse to sit and stare into space for a while or lookup random things (obviously it do occassionally have something to do with the writing) smile
sorry if i sound slightly psychotic but i'm really very good at not going off the handle but it does mean i supress slightly. hence the writing

I think I already answered this but I'm gonna do it again, 'cause I'm super bored.

I write because I'm good at it. Sure, I get a thrill out of creating stories and putting them on paper, and I can't help but notice the beauty of words, the joy of finally clicking them into place... but if I wasn't good at it, none of that would matter. See, I suffer from low self-esteem--most writers do--so I don't really promote myself a lot, don't really get out there. However, I know that if I were to show someone--anyone--my writing, they would love me. They would praise me and encourage me, and it would all be true because I'm a damn good writer. And so I would feel just a little bit better about myself, just enough to get me through.

That is why I'm a writer.

I don't know why I write. I just do. I normally write with one of my friends though. We share ideas and it's a little easier then writing by yourself because she has ideas and a freash look at it when I start to get bored. We have finished one story, but we need to edit it. We started on the second book, but got mixed up with the other stories we're writing.

I cannot believe I have not posted in this thread yet. 0.o

I write because its fun, it feels right, its in my blood, and I think I would lose my mind if I didn't.

I have all these characters, places, and creatures roaming around my mindscape, and if I didn't write about them, they would drive me mental. As it is, if I don't write for a while, I start acting out scenes with characters when I'm alone. That's bad enough. If I didn't write, I think I would not only do that, but I might end up being labeled a case of D.I.D., and that would be terrible. Why? Because I know I'm NOT D.I.D., I know I'm not the characters, and I have full memory of what goes on while I'm acting out the scenes. Its caused by lack of creative output.

But I don't just write stories, sometimes my emotions inspire wonderful poems or lyrics. I have to carry a pen and paper with me everywhere, in case I have to write a verse or something sparks my creativity.

I write because it is a way of unleashing emotions instead of lashing out at people.

I write because it is fun to imagine yourself in other worlds and situations, to imagine what the world would be like if other creatures and kingdoms existed.

I write because it is fun to mix words and create word pictures that make people think and admire your work (it is a good way to feel special and accepted when you in reality you are experiencing the opposite).

I am posting this one week after the previous reply, funny.

well the obvious answer is to make money. but other than that some people just like writing. other people just like to show off their superior writing skills

well i have only started writeing but i do it because it's the only place i can just be myself without worring what people think.

i mean that if they say "wow that's horroific/morbid /strange" i can just say "well it's just a story it's saposed to catch your attrention like that"

although only my sister sees my writeing i tend not to show it to anyone else i know....
