I have good sound Im the only one that can play the c above the staff perfectly, not to sound showoff like and I play the loudest. Me and all of my fraind and even people that are not think I deserve to be first chair. sweatdrop

We don't have chairs, but I have been with the same two other clarinet players since I started back in 5th grade. I (not bragging) am the better player out of the three because I have been taking private lessons since day 1, I've practiced much more, had much more experience, and can hold my notes better. The second player is pretty good, but she can't hit her high notes very well. The third player doesn't even play the clarinet all the time, he mostly sings but he throws tantrums if he doesn't get what he wants. Last year he was throwing a tantrum and we were getting to play level 4 music like Pirates of the Carribean and the teacher took it from me and gave it to him saying "we need to share". He couldn't even play it! I was so mad! After that we all had to fight over what part we got. Sometimes I wish we had chairs, but then I don't because he might throw a tantrum and just get all the first parts. I always hate to see people's hard work go to nothing ...

There may be plenty of fish in the sea I'm first chair in orchestra, but third in band. That's because the other two are older or have been there longer. We're about equal in skill, and can swap parts if we feel like it. We don't very often though, because it's easier just to be one chair all the time. but who really wants to date a fish?

My personal experience with first chair clarinetists has been awesome. I was first chair myself for some time, but I gave it up to a very deserving clarinetist who I learned to play clarinet with. We had so many jokes together. He is an amazing player and very nice and kind to everyone. :] I'm gonna miss him when we go to separate colleges this year...
Most of the time, though, first chairs don't really do much leadership, I think, unless you count playing solos leadership. There was once when I was first that I had to deal with some drama and use my authority. But other than that, nothing really...
