does your clarinet section have a first chair? Is he/she nice? Does he/she sound good? do u think u deserve it?? post your thoughts here

We used to have chairs last year, and the first chair was okay. She could be a bit of a jerk at times, though. Now we don't have chairs, which is a little upsetting.

I'm second chair, solely because I lack the time or will to practice. We are equal in tone and capability, and we both have great horns and he now takes lessons from my teacher. He's pretty cool, but he's not very good at helping the beginners

i am first chair clarinet, and i told my band director that i wanted to play bass clarinet last year (im in 7th grade) and hes like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! and he does that thing where he puts his hands on his face and pulls down a little.. it was hilarious!
but i love being first chair, because the trumpet player i like is first chair and sometimes i get solos with him. wink wink wink wink

...Why won't your BD let you switch...? The Bass Clarinet is the greatest instrument in the world... Haha we had a first chair, she was the biggest jerk... I had a couple of friends in her section, they sat 3rd... She actually said in a sectional "Okay, now since I'm good, and you all suck, you're all going to do what I say."

Im fifth chair in our wind ensemble besides the fact that i was the only freshman there. But like no offense but the sophomores suck and the juniors are the like the first 2 chairs they are cool but sophomores think they are all that stare

I'm first chair. I get called a show off, but thats because I play a level six, and I'm the youngest, when everyone older than me plays a level 2.

our first chair is a senior and i am going to be a freshman. She deserves it more, plus she can hit the high notes better!

Yes we do have first chair! I AM first chair, and our teacher lets people try out for the postion if they want to but none of the other clarinets seem to want to. There are only three of us which really stinks cause the other two don't play loud enough. But I give them a fair chance at it and I encourage them. I tell them fingerings and notes and help them with intervals and stuff. mrgreen

I WAS first chair clarinet in 8th grade but now im goin 2 high school in ninth grade and now im gonna b last lol sad but i was da only freshman they chose 2 be in top band.....kinda sad really lol.....but i think im ok at playing...im not really really good.....but apparantly good enough lol

i'm in grade 9 going to 10 ( was a freshman or niner ) and was first, second and third chair b/c i was in 3 different bands but i think those who are 1st chair deserved it except for one guy, he always sucks up to the BD and never practise but is still a first chair ... but i look up to those who are 1st chair when i'm in senior i'm 3rd here) and intermediate band( 2nd) b/c they rock ^^ (1st in junior where the band only consits of grade 9s )
