She watched the Guardian adoringly for a few moments, before looking back to Link as he took a seat next to her, thinking nothing of it and simply straightening her posture to make him all the more welcome. Both of her silent friends in the same space~! Life was too perfect with just that.
So tied up with that little bit of perfection, Malon was almost startled when the unfamiliar voice of Link's new companion suddenly pipped up, causing her to almost reel away from his side. There was still the slight jump as her tails puffed up lightly from the surprise, before she turned to look at the dark figure whom was telling her off. If she was listening or just staring at the intricately marked being didn't really matter, she had a very intent look on her face, the same as when she was debating between Link's level of 'Did he change or is it just the dirt?' thoughts from earlier.
Even after Midna had finished speaking, she said nothing, keeping that same look of thought on her face, before she suddenly sparked her normal level of life again. "Hee! You're not Navi." she pointed out, obviously, tails swishing amusedly, before she lowered her head to look at Midna on a more eye-level.
"She sure is pretty though, Fairy-Boy." Malon pointed out, smiling brightly, before turning her attention to the Twili. "I'm Malon~ Nice to meet you friend-of-Fairy-Boy~" she introduced.

Link doesn't say anything, naturally, nor does he make any attempt to move nearer to her. His tails move slowly, though his heart races as he watches her from the corner of his eye. But his attention is quickly nabbed as he hears Midna, a look of shock showing on his face at her brash and rude words which she had often used against him as well.
Midna herself, meanwhile, glowers at Malon as she makes her brilliant observation of how she's not Navi. "No I'm not that stupid fairy!" she shrieks in annoyance, shaking a tiny fist at the ranch hand. "I'm Midna and I--"
But she gets cut off as Link gives a hard shrug of his shoulder to throw her off. With a glare he drops his head to stare at her, narrowing his eyes angrily for how she's acting. This look instantly silences her and Link, after a few moments of intent glowering, sighs and straightens up. He didn't know if Malon was offended, but even so he leans to nuzzle the female against her cheek and give her an apologetic look for his Guardian's behavior.

Naturally, Malon was rather taken aback by how harshly the guardian spoke to her. Not that she was being spoken harshly too, but that she was trying to be -nice- and this stranger was being so mean. But there would be no teary eyes or physical distress at the treatment. Mom had always said to put herself in other Kitsu's shoes..
And while Midna wasn't a kitsu, she certainly didn't have any shoes. How horrible! Not that it was meant to be literal, but she could have that little joke to herself to use in collateral for the harsh tones.
"Stupid..? I thought she was rather cute..." she commented offhandedly in terms of Navi, looking down at the little Guardian as she was suddenly flung into the grass by a shrug of Link's shoulders, looking between the two as a sort of silent session of Midna being told off is exchanged between the pair.
Malon leaned back slightly as to make sure not to get between the pair, while it probably wouldn't have hurt, she certainly didn't want the look on Link's face at that very moment aimed in her general direction in the least.
The slight drama seemed to come and go quite nicely, she found, and with a happy little bounce the redhead re-settled herself back into her 'honorary' little spot of grass next to Link without much of a care in the world. In fact, she was ready to let the entire incident pass with a nice little change of conversation, turning to change said 'conversation' just to feel her companion's snout against her cheek apologetically, her cheeks burning lightly as Malon awkwardly returned the gesture then quickly looked away, her posture in a rigid sort of 'internal spazzing' phase accompanied by a light 'Do dee do la la lala' hum of 'I didn't do it'.
Hmmm...
With a slight cough she opened and closed her mouth a couple of times before getting to that topic change; "Guess without your Fairy-friend around I can't call you Fairy-boy anymore..."

Link most certainly had not appreciated how Midna had spoken to Malon, for the female had been a long time friend. In fact she'd been the first he met out in the large world after he left home as a child and so she holds a special place in his heart that no other would ever be able to replace.
Midna had not appreciated the way she'd been so silently scolded at. Even she rarely ever heard Link, but his voice did not need to be used to convey what he felt or wanted to say: his face was so spectacular with expressions that it did the work just fine. With an annoyed huff at Link, she shakes her head and stalks off into the grass to hide. Maybe to play in shadows too and leaving the two of them alone with Epona too.
He, meanwhile, settles comfortably once more against Malon, letting the silence fill the air between them. His ears twitch and roll slightly and at her words he blinks, looking at her. As always he ponders this then gives a shake of his head, his brows knitting over his eyes and his mouth puffing out slightly at her as he gives her a look that tells her 'Don't be ridiculous.' Just because he didn't have Navi anymore didn't mean she had to stop.
His nose pushes against the base of her closet ear as he lets himself speak; his voice is quiet and cam, a soothing note to his words that is almost reminiscent of the Ocarina he plays, "You still can, Malon. I don't mind.."

Malon sort of stared off into the distance for a while, waiting for the sense of 'awwwwwkward' to alleviate itself before she looked back to him with a bit of a shy smile. It was nice to have the hero back home.
The silence was nice, as it always was. Between the two of them, they didn't really need words. She liked them now and then, but for him she'd sacrifice words. Afterall, his looks said everything. The redhead sort of leaned back timidly, not a normal suit of Malon, giving him an innocent stare in return to his very expressive look. Or maybe it was just his face she was looking at.
She blushed lightly as the blond pushed his nose against her ear, opening her mouth to speak when his quiet voice silenced her, the flush that already partially tinged her face growing to devour it in a deeper shade. How was she supposed to answer that..?
"Well..." she started a coherent thought, paused, then seemed to think about this, ultimately deciding that right now that words were meaningless. There was no reason for her to kill such a moment with them right then.
