The Day My Life ChangedTime: 12/25/07 Where: Josh's home Who: Josh What: Obtaining essence and soul bottle Status: Complete It was a fairly average day, less than a week after Christmas had passed. Stockings were still hung on a shelf. Presents were still collected under the tree (sans their jackets of wrapping paper) and were waiting to be put away. Everything seems still and quiet in the Peterson residence. That is, until a knock sounded on the door. THUMP, THUMP, THUMP. It boomed like thunder. As the one and only son Josh was essentially doomed to be the child laborer of the family, low rung on the authority ladder like countless other offspring cursed to the same fate. So, of course, he would be the one to open the door. A package had been placed on the doorstep. It was perfectly square and brown with no distinct markings. Josh look around for a delivery man, none was to be found, before he picked up the package. He flipped over a crisp white tag taped to one of the corners. Josh's breath caught in his chest and he felt his hands grow clammy. He reread the carefully handwritten words over and over again. Clean black lines read clearly: "Merry Christmas from Lab[305]! Sorry it is a bit late. <3"The boy wasted no time in bringing the parcel to his room and placing it on his desk. He took care as he sliced open the packaging with a pair of scissors, like a surgeon cutting into his first patient. He was in a cold sweat by the time he drew up the courage to open the box. A small wooden box rested inside. It was stained mahogany, rich and expensive looking. The boy drew it up into both his hands. It was heavier than it looked. His thumb drew along a silver latch positioned on the front before he flicked it open. The lid gave a soft creak as it opened. Josh choked on his own startled gasp. Inside was a bottle and a vial. The bottle was empty, but the contents of the vial swirled with a colorful liquid. The boy cocked his head to the side. No, the contents were constantly changing colors. A card was tucked in with the other contents. The boy read that, too. "Welcome! After careful consideration you have been chosen to receive an essence and soul bottle. The essence we have provided you has been called 'Self-indulgent Ink'. We are sure you will understand why after some one on one experience with it. As for the bottle, instructions have been provided below. Good luck in your search for a soul!Josh smiled softly to himself. Things were about to change. SOLO

Attack of the Siamese Cookie!Time: 12/27/07 Where: Josh's kitchen, no place is safe Who: Josh and a fairly disturbed cookie What: A fight to the death Status: Complete Another pleasant surprise found its way to Josh soon after his soul bottle. This present was also under the alias of “A gift from Lab 305!” The boy plucked the box from off his door step and brought it into his kitchen for further examination. Josh shook the colored cubed by his ear. There was a gentle rattling but nothing unusual that typically would characterize a Lab 305 gift. Josh set down the box again on his counter. He stepped away for a moment to grab a knife in order to slaughter the boxes insides free… Err, open his present’s gift wrapping. Josh made his selection quickly. A small paring knife should do the trick. He casually walked back to the box and make quick work of slicing the top of the striped paper. The box gave a jolt and a scream. Wait! What? Josh hesitated before he continued his cutting motion. Each inch that he guided the blade through the box would emit and audible yelp and whine. Josh cringed as he made a complete slice over the top. With one last slice the top was freed and ready be opened. And boy did it open quickly. The top exploded open and a dual headed cookie made itself known. One pair of gumdrop eyes glared at Josh and the paring knife in his hand. The other head proceeded to scream in gibberish. The cookie’s crispy, sugar coated arms pointed at the slice across his chest and the knife in the boy’s hand. Josh paused for a moment to register the presence of the agitated confectionery. Processing… Processing… “Well ********> Josh let the profanity slip from him as well as the small knife. It clattered on the table. The cookie wasted no time in picking up the pint sized weapon and using it against the boy.The knife fit perfectly in those ginger bread hands as it was swung around by the vengeful cookie. Josh fell backwards defenselessly against the dining room table. He made room for himself on it by knocking over the decorative vase and fruit that was thoughtfully place on its freshly cleaned linen. Josh would explain the foot prints on the table later.
The cookie had trouble spanning the few feet that separated the marble counters from the wooden table. It made a few blind, exasperated swings before it realized it was getting nowhere. Josh chuckled, “Too tiny, huh?”
A knife flew past his head and lodged itself in a wall. Josh made a shrill scream and fell against the table. Fortunately, he had prior experience with dodging sharp objects.
He would have to thank his dad later.
The cookie was now weaponless and decided to take up a new plan of action. His tiny cookie feet crunched against the marble leaving a trail of crumbs as he made his way over to the sink. The cookie leapt over the used dish water and took a position behind the spray nozzle of the sink. Within seconds Josh was receiving a stream of water in his face like one of those carnival clown games. The boy choked down the rush of water and slipped down behind the table in order to evade the cookie’s sight. This was hard given his two eyes were working against four.
The cookie had leapt over the dish water once more trying to find a way to reach Josh with the water nozzle. The cookie teetered dangerously on the edge of the sink. Josh suddenly got an idea.
He reached over to the utensils and pulled a stirring spoon from the array of stainless steel cooking wear. “Take this!” Josh threw the gleaming spoon into the air. Both of the cookie’s heads followed the spoon’s trail into the sky. It was an impressive arch the cause the spoon to land only a few feet away from where it was initially tossed. A laugh tore through the cookie as it looked back up to shoot Josh square in the face.
It took aim.
However, the boy was gone.
The cookie spun around in an attempt to find its target. Around and around it went with no sign of its assailant. His back faced the kitchen while his front faced the sink and its mucky dish water. So he would have to give the boy chase. The cookie huffed in agitation and was about to leap across the water to put away his weapon when it caught sight of a brown haired boy in the water. Josh smiled deviously as he crept out of the cabinet under the sink, “That was called a distraction.” With that he flicked the cookie into the dish water.
For a few seconds the cookie splished about. Soon, the splashes grew weaker as his little dough arms filled with water until they grew soft and broke off. The cookie let off a final scream of rage before both his heads sunk into the water.
Josh sighed and hit the garbage disposal just in case. The water bubbled horrifically before it died down.
The boy sighed and rested his back against the cabinetry. He was sitting in a puddle of water. How would he explain this one?! The neighbor’s dog did it?
Josh smiled.
Yeah, that one should work again.

CollisionTime: Weekday afternoon Where: Public library... enemy number one! Who: Amaris, Josh, and their essences What: A visit to get a book. Status: Complete Post-note:Josh sighed as he flopped on the couch. He tossed the vial next to him. Of course, he did it delicately.... about as delicately as a frustrated teen could. The vial was not in any better of a mood. The contents churned violently. Even the stopper had worked its way out a bit. Josh flipped on the TV. He made a loud sigh as he relaxed and let himself sink into the comfort of cartoons. After a few seconds, he looked down and noticed that the vial had simmered down to a gentle lapping. He chuckled. Well, they could agree on one thing. Moving pictures were better than a book full of words any day. PRP

I'm gonna be the very best!Time: Saturday afternoon Where: Skin Tyte Who: Josh, Namini, Devin, Natasha, Cameron, Nick, the tall guy, and purple haired girl... What: Job applications Status: Complete Post-note:Josh growled as he rampaged to his room. He paused only when he saw his mom knitting in the living room. She looked up from her work with a cheery smile, "Yes, HoneyBunny?"
A look of embarrassment passed across his face before he spoke, "How does this look?" As he spoke he brushed back his hair to reveal the orange ball jutting from his earlobe. His mom sat up rigidly. Her mouth was agape. As she spoke, her voice was pumped with an air of delight, "M-my! It is soooo cuuuute!!!" Her knitting needles and yarn flew up in the air with joy. Josh stormed off with a growl. PRP

Frolicking in the Flowers...Time: Mid afternoon on a weekend during Summer Where: Isi's home, outside Who: Josh, Isi, and Eiry What: SOUL CAPTURE Status: Complete Post-note: Josh looked down at the bundle in his seat. A grim scowl marred his usually soft features. As time passed the rabbit seemed to grow feebler, more unresponsive. Soon enough, a silence hung inside Josh’s truck, heavy and thick like a wet blanket smothering him. Josh had known from the beginning of this hunt for the Br'er rabbit that taking its life would be the final outcome, but he had never assumed it would be such a difficult process. Or, that it would take this long. He really needed to suggest to Dr. Kyou a bottle that instantaneously captured the soul. The boy rocked back and forth in his seat. He was trying anything to distract from the rabbit gasping just across from him. Josh was caught in an internal conflict. He was not a murderer. He did not take pleasure in watching innocent creatures die. In fact, he hated the mere thought of killing, but it the sick irony was that it is necessary in forming a raevan. He had been dubious about the idea ever since he had first read the instructions. Most people would have said no right then and there the second they read "remove soul" printed neatly on crisp letterhead. However, saying no had never felt like an option to Josh. He felt childish for thinking it, but he already had plans for this raevan. It was not a science experiment for him. This raevan was hope. The boy looked down at the lump of tar. The rabbit within was fighting just to maintain its breath. Every labored puff seemed to wear on Josh’s mind. One raspy breath rolled into a pained moan for 'help'. That was the one that finally broke his resolve. What was he doing just sitting here listening?! The driver's side door rattled as he exited his truck and made his way around to the passenger's side. This rabbit should not suffer for him no matter how badly he wanted to create a raevan. Screw the bottle and whatever time it needed to capture a soul! A quick death was the least he could do for this animal. The boy held his breath and reached into the glove compartment for the pocket knife he kept there. He released the switch and unfolded the blade. It appeared shiny and new, never used. Josh shook from head to toe like a tree caught in a windstorm. He was nervous and for good reason. He was just as inexperienced as his blade. This knife had been kept here to protect him, but now it was being used to put an end to an innocent's life. Josh gritted his teeth as he fumbled one hand into the tar. Viscous and sticky. Struggling against him. Trapping him there so he had to make a choice. At last, it found the rabbit's chest. He used that to guide his blade. Josh's breathe hitched. He knife was ready but his mind was far from it. Two voices battled within him. Was he really going to do this? If he was he had to be quick. Still, his arms were trembling. Stop hesitating. Could he kill? Be QUICK! His blade plunged into the rabbit's heart and the creature gave one last kick of its legs before it passed away in a heartbeat. Josh broke down. The boy clutched the pile of tar, fur, and blood. He murmured to the body consolingly as if it could make a difference, "I am sorry. SO sorry." He repeated it over and over like a mantra. Only it wasn't soothing. He was only growing more and more alarmed as blood pooled on his truck's seat. He felt guilty. He felt stupid. He felt selfish. He had killed this creature. And for what?! Josh looked up at the soul bottle still positioned in a cup holder. His eyes widened at the bright glow coming from within it. Like a beacon... of hope. That is right. This is why he had killed it. This bottle now contained the rabbit’s soul. With this soul he would bring another life into this world. With that new life he could bring his family closer. Josh face grew solemn, contemplative. What was done was done. Now all that was left was to bury the past and provide the best future he could for this soul. The boy set the rabbit down and grabbed a shovel from the back of his truck. He would bury the body near its home. It seemed like a fitting place, in the company of its old family in preparation for its new one. PRP

Prep WorkTime: A weekend Where: Josh's house Who: Josh and his mother What: A talk about the future Status: Complete Josh had managed to accumulate many accessories for his future raevan’s room. Over the course of a few weeks the guest bedroom was lined with an assortment of toys. Coloring books, crayons, and colorful plush animals filled ever corner as if Barney himself doubled over and exploded in the room. Josh tossed the last of his catches on the bed; a cuddly rabbit doll with green eyes and a white pompom tail that would put any real rabbit to shame. Josh had to admit that hiding the room’s development had been easier than expected. Not once had his parents actually had any inclination to enter the guest bedroom. Of course, he would have to eventually tell them about the raevan, but for now he was content with hiding a half rabbit creature in the tiny room. He stepped aside to exit the room when he realized that he had nearly forgotten an important addition to the room! He crossed the hall to his room. A few seconds passed as rummaging and clattering echoed in Josh’s room. The guest bedroom was left wide open. After a minute or so of searching Josh had found just what he was looking for. The boy emerged from his room with a yellow lamp. The base had a lovely display of a princess getting rescued by a knight carved painstakingly into it. Of course, Josh had not carved it, but it was still an impressive piece. He set it on the dresser and made a final scan of his handiwork. Everything was in place. He concluded that his raevan would be one happy creature. Josh would have missed his mother’s presence in the corner of the room if he had not tripped on her leg while leaving. The middle aged woman gave a giggle as she burst from a pile of toys. “I got you Pookie-Wookie!” Her voice cracked with unreleased laughter. She floundered about as she got her last guffaws out. Toys scattered over the carpet as her limbs flung everywhere. She wiped her eyes and tackled Josh before he had a chance to get up. The boy was pressed into the floor by her elbows. In the back of his mind he felt a pang of sadness that even his mom was sturdier built than him. Maybe she had an affair with the mailman. That would explain a few things. Josh cringed at the thought and was glad when his mom pulled him out of his own head. “Why did you redecorate the bedroom Joshie-poooooo? Is this for meeee?” Josh gulped. “N-not quite…” He had hoped to keep the raevan a secret for just a bit longer. His mother paused and glanced around the room once more. “Josh," Her tone was grim for a moment, "I thought I taught you about protection,” She tsked him and continued, “Was it that nice little Namini girl you always talk about?!” She pouted and shoved his face into the carpet. You could almost hear the sizzle of Josh’s blush burning into the floor. “I expect a blond baby with little pigtails and big eyes Jooooooooooooooosh!” The fact the carpet had not burst into flames yet was shocking. Josh mumbled past a mouthful of polyester fibers. “MMMMMNNF!!! Mnf…” His mother released him. “Oh my bad.” Josh gasped and rolled her off of himself with a bit of a struggle. “I-it is nothing like that. Well, it kinda is…” Josh’s mouth opened and closed in thought, “I am expecting a kid but… it is from a laboratory.”His mother face grew confused. “What about the miracle of birth Josh!!!!” Her fists pumped in the air. “I remember when I had you. It was a beautiful experience! Even though your head was huuuuuuge.” She motioned with her hands to represent an object about the size of a cantaloupe. Josh sincerely hoped she was exaggerating. His mother continued, “Pushing you out was a pain in the as-” Josh’s hand cupped over her lips. “Please stop. It is not a human kid. It is like a lab experiment. I am supposed to watch over them like a guardian. Think of it more like an adopted child, Mom.”The confusion in his mother's expression faded. Her lips melted into a smile and she nodded, “Okay, Josh-babybear.” Her voice rung joyously as she hopped from the ground and skipped off. The boy could hear the chant of ‘I am gonna be a grandmaaaa~’ echoing down the hall. Josh shouted out of the guest bedroom, “Please don’t tell dad!”There was a pause. His mom’s voice rung again, “Of course I won’t! That would ruin all the fun!” He could always count on her even if she could be a pain. He was glad she had been the first one to find out and not his father. She was easier to explain things to. Well, that was one parent pleased for now. Josh sighed and began to reorganize the room’s toys. SOLO

LuLu's Pick-upTime: Afternoon Where: Lab 305 Who: Josh, Alex, LuLu, and Zul What: Pickup Status: Complete Post-note:Josh's arrival home had been more tedious than he expected. It could be difficult to drive when a rabbit girl leapt into your lap every time your Truck hit a bump. LuLu refused to leave the car unless Josh was carrying her. The boy cradled the girl in his arms. It was surprisingly easy given the girl was only a half torso. Her pointed bone wings did manage to stab into his arms every so often; however, the trip into the house was managed quickly. When they arrived into the house. LuLu still refused to let go of Josh's neck. Whenever he lowered her to the floor, long nails dug into his sunkissed skin. "Owowow...Ok, we are going to your room."LuLu squeaked quietly akin to the volume of a mouse, "Room.""Yes." Josh carried her to the room and managed to set her on the bed without LuLu taking his head along with her. The rabbit frei stiffened on the mattress. Within seconds she bolted off of the comforter and dove through the open closet door. Her ears poked out from the mess of spare blankets and darkness. "Familiar." She cooed to herself. Josh hummed, "Nice?" LuLu's ears bobbed up and down in response. Josh smiled until he heard the telltale signs of his mom coming down the hallway. Banging and hopping. Josh swung the door closed in her face with one fluid motion. It was best to keep the room quite for now. PRP

Meeting MomTime: A weekend Where: Josh's house Who: Josh, LuLu, and Josh's mom What: An introduction Status: Complete Today was the day. It was the end of the world. Not exactly, it was the day that Josh was going to introduce LuLu to his mom. It was a day he had been dreading given his frei’s docile personality and the fact his mom had already tried to head butt a hole through the door in order to see LuLu. To say the least, the rabbit raevan was now afraid of the imposing rectangle of wood due to Jannet. Josh sighed before he spoke to LuLu. She was in her self-proclaimed ‘safe place’, the closet. “I have someone who wants to meet you LuLu. Is that ok?” Two ears perk up above the pile of blankets that barricaded the closet. A whisper ghosted past the plush wall. “They safe?” The boy contemplated this question for a moment. It was his mom. It was the woman who had raised him since birth and cared for him every day of his life. It was the woman he knew best. He had the urge to say no. For LuLu’s sake he responded, “The safest.” LuLu’s face peeked out from over her favorite red quilt, “Can meet now?” Josh nodded and opened the door to LuLu’s room. Jannet toppled out from behind the barrier. It was obvious she had been spying. The woman collected herself and nearly screamed, “Where is the cute little kid!!!”Josh made two observations of his mom. First, she was way too loud. Second, she had a pair of fake rabbit ears adorning her head. Josh could not help but give a skeptical laugh, "What are those for mom? To make LuLu feel more at home?” Jannet spun in a circle and struck a pose like something from a cheaply made movie, “Perhaps Joshy-poo. Or maybe I was getting together my Halloween costume for next year. I was planning something sexy for your Father.” She did a bunny hop for emphasis. Josh blanched, “Just go to LuLu mom.”As told, Jannet began to strut towards the closet. She was met halfway by a curious LuLu. Josh was astonished. He could barely get LuLu out of that hole she had made in the closet and his mom had managed to without even saying anything to the raevan. LuLu’s lavender eyes were focused on the white fur atop his mother’s head. She squawked, “Like me!” The raevan’s voice rose almost as loud as his mother’s as if she was trying her best at an impersonation of Jannet. Jannet clasped her hands over her mouth to suppress an excited shriek. Her attempt failed. The woman bounced up and down in joy, “YES!!! Aren’t you a cutie. Look at those blond pigtails. Just like I wanted! Josh made me such a sweetypie!!!!”LuLu froze as if unsure just how to respond. After a few seconds, she was hopping and bouncing like Josh’s mom. A shrill squeal was blasting from her rosy lips. She seemed to become the perfect parrot to Jannet’s movements. It was as if Jannet had become a bunny mentor to LuLu. The woman paused in her actions to speak to the raevan once more, “Call me Gramgram, Little LuLuuuuu.”LuLu nodded, “Gram… Graaaaaaaaam.” Josh piped up, “You do not have to if you do not want to LuLu.”Jannet shot a glare at her son, “Sh! Do not ruin this for me Josh.” LuLu absorbed the chiding and retorted to her guardian as well, “SH!” The raevan clapped in joy. A smile graced her face for the first time since she had arrived. The sudden out burst from LuLu left Josh a bit sore. Was it possible that she enjoyed his mom more than him? No. It could not be. It had to be the ears. Well, if LuLu wanted his mom’s attention for now she would get it. Josh left the room to let the two girls have their own privacy. SOLO
