zphal_girl87 OverlordMMM Halo Hedgey OverlordMMM ...I honestly had a hunch about that a while ago....but didn't see any reason to think about it since it didn't have much impact to the storylines.....well....aside his relations with harry.... Here's someone who doesn't know what the word "friend" means... Rowling: WTF? No, he's pretty obviously asexual. ._.; I meant the impact of the friendship and how it affected Harry.......To Harry, Dumbledore was a bit of a father figure, but also something else Harry couldn't put his finger on.....Dumbledore showed his affections of Harry in various (nonsexual) ways that didn't usually coincide with his other tendencies when with any other characters (well as far as is seen within the books)......In other words, he acted a bit different when around him.....for one thing, he openly showed his faults to Harry.....especially when it came to the Hollows, something that is never seen in his character before when he is with another character......despite that he shows his faults to Harry, he never delves into them, showing that he has much regret, and that he didn't want Harry to be ashamed of what he did........ Despite the fact he hid these regrets from nearly everyone, he never openly showed his weaknesses to anyone.....and if he did, it was a rarity.... I thought Dumbledore showed his faults to Harry so that Harry could realize that not everyone was perfect. Even the person you look up to most has some faults. I thought Dumbledore was open with Harry so Harry would learn to be brave and overcome, but also to accept that mistakes can happen and that you can move on with life and your "mission". NOT that Harry gave him the hots. Also, Rowling didn't say he was a pedihile, I'd like to mention right up front. ...you are misinterpreting what I am saying....I'm not saying that Dumbledore being gay had a direct influence on how he acted toward Harry.............All it really did was help him sympathize with Harry more than the other characters.....which added to how he acted around him.....

I'm not arguing with you, I'm stating how I personally interpretted the book. There really isn't any grand law of "correct" when it comes to a fictional world, save for that of the author, and apparently she's perfectly set in her ways to tell us every single aspect, leaving nothing open for interpretation, which is rather rude and defeats the purpose of the books being books.

I agree. A book is a collaboration between the author and the readers imagination (because it is not possible for the author to accurately describe EVERYTHING involved). I've always appreciated a book where there is just enough explained to wrap it up but still leaving just enough not explained to allow the reader to continue to ponder on things and bring a little of their own speculation into the mix.

The day the news broke out...
Mother: "OMFG, Mari, I have some interesting news for you!" biggrin
Me: "What?" surprised
Mother: "Dumbledore is gay." xd
Me: "... okay, so what was the very interesting news?" neutral
Mother: ".... you're so jaded, you know that?" xp
Me: "What? Do you really expect an anti-Gay Prider such as myself to care what sex some old, wrinkled-up wizard prefers to get laid with?" lol
If you ask me, people would take homosexuals a hell lot more seriously if they acted a bit more mainstream and casual about it. You're a guy, and you've chosen another gay as your life partner? So be it! Travel to Canada, get married, move in together, adopt a few kids if you like, and move on with your life just like any other married couple would. NO NEED TO MAKE A SCENE ABOUT IT! stressed Seriously, the Dark Ages are long gone, and "Gay Pride" will only make being accepted harder than it needs to be, IMO. xp
Okay, sorry for my little rant there... sweatdrop

cool4 shes writing a detective story now is what i heard never got into harrypotter Seems like it would be her forte considering the early Harry Potter books were very much like "who dun it" mystery novels set in a magical school. 3nodding

eh posted on one of those big blog site things
it seems like then "all of a sudden BOOM!" why not mention that 3 books ago? he is a grown man, not a teenager. he knows himself.
sorry, but it seems too random now, it went from a book to a fanfic, because she didnt mention anything ahead of time. bad move. imo
i dont have a religion. but this latest trend by young people to basically go around and bashing someone for their religious beliefs and toss the word "homophobe" like water, is just very hypocritical to me. and it certainly doesnt make the one saying it look smart, it makes them look hateful.
there are tons of books that have a gay male lead or characters. why hid it till the end? it just seems so stupid.
youd figure people would be more bothered by the whole "pure blood" thing. its openly done...its the only way to keep the line "pure" even if there are problems down the generations.
Dumbledor "oh noos, i is teh scared yous 8te mes for being teh gay"
just makes Dumble seem like such a baby.
JK isnt original or brave, she is a late bloomer
