Damnation from Opeth. It works the best. I also found a CD with ambient clip and just sound of burning fire cracking. Restless person that I am, mostly anything can make me sleep. I usually use fast and loud music to make my headaches go away. It just needs to hit with same tempo to work.

Usually Amon Amarth and Dimmu Borgir can put me to sleep, but Satyricon's "Black Lava" knocks me out instantly.

It kind of changes for me.. either i have heavy stuff like dimmu, illdisposed, tyrant throne, or something alike playing when i fall asleep, or i have really slow celtic music playing.. it seems to relax me just the same

It's not metal, but I've fallen asleep to American McGee's Alice in Wonder Land OST. My friend did the same and got nightmares. XD

Once fell asleep to Korpiklaani Beer Beer on repeat, woke up the next day and thought back to my dream which was all about beer and the taste of beer. I'd hated that song for about a month just for listening to it overnight.

Folk metal relaxes my nerves. I'll just put Finntroll on the background and I'm good to go. I'll rather sleep with music on than off.

I've never actually tried to fall asleep to metal but I'm sure I could. I listen to it during any other scenario though, walking to school, sitting at home relaxing etc.
