For one thing the voices are as good as Xenosaga (same people even), can't say that when comparing the English versions razz Some of the references are different too, etc... And there's this long scene with implied nudity. Not sure if they changed that, actually, but ummm, usually they like to ^^;

Cloudakira not all american versions are bad......I admit that the japanese versions are unique and great.....but sometimes the american versions have secrets like hidden bosses (KH-Sephiroth, FF7- Emerald & Ruby Weapons) Xenogears didn't to the best of my knowledge. And for FFVII they released an international version in Japan with the extras, but I believe they kept the voices of the Japanese version, etc... Heck, and nowadays the Xenosaga International versions are better than the American ones... Same with FFX and X-2... Cutscene viewing, Kirschwasser Costume, Archetype KOS-MOS, bonus disc! ^^ You're right though, like for .hack the American versions were arguably better, namely because they had more time to make them great... The Japanese versions were on a tight schedule... But anyway, my point was that Xenogears was mostly story, and the American version changes some minor things (the Xenosaga translation is much better). Even Xenosaga, though... A short gunslinger that says, "Go ahead, make my day." is much cooler than one that says "Sayonara, Baby" ^^; Were they afraid of a lawsuit or something?

actually the cut scenes in the american version of xsI were slightly different. like when momo meets up with albedo and he's got all the dead kirshwasa, in the japenese version you see him break their arms and stuff. and also in the japenese version he uses a knife to cut of his limbs and threaten momo, and americans dont like violence against kids. but in the japenese version theres a gore sensor, like a big black blur over albedo's head while he's chopping it off. thats the only one i know specifically, but i know theres little differences like that. i heard in xsII that there was something a little more major different...but not much more.

Yeah, the American version of Ep I was more violent. I dunno about II. They could show more of his head-shootin' or something, I guess... ^^;

Yeah, I'm actually really concerned about ep2 being censored. The main problem not being the violence itself, but that nearly all of the really violent scenes take place between / against children. <> One of the biggest scenes of concern is when little Albedo sticks a gun up to his head and blows it off. Now though you don't actually *see* anything, the act of him putting the gun up to his head might be enough to get the censors concerned, since he is just a little kid (I still think this whole different standard when it comes to violence and children is silly, violence is violence). Two other scenes come to mind, one where Albedo pulls the hand-through-the-torso thing on Jr. while choking him (not quite the same as the MOMO scene, since it doesn't seem to have the same sexual connotations) and the other, which is slightly more "offensive" where little Albedo beats up an unconcious Sakura (sort of... well as far as I can tell it's really just an illusion / hallucination type thing, but he's still beating the crap out of an unconcious girl). <> Now the biggest issue with censoring any of the scenes I mentioned, would be that it detracts in a SERIOUS way from Albedo's character if they were absent (particularly the first and last scenes that I mentioned) or heavily modified to remove the "violence against children" - because, well, that's the point. Albedo is a little psyco and the scenes are designed to shock the player, if they're not shocking you don't get the same reaction to the character.
It STILL annoys me that they changed Jr's catch-phrase to "Sayonara, baby!" Oh well, now I get to worry about the voice acting!
And on a related note, did anyone ever figure out why they changed Albedo's little emblem thing from an "X" to an inverted "Y"? It seemed like such a bizzare and minute detail to change, they had to have some reason to do it.

Cloudakira I know...xenogears was so awesome...but...one of the characters in xenogears is a kung-fu/ sword master/ science genius named Citan Uzuki....and we all know that the main character of Xenosaga is named Shion Uzuki....and xenosaga ep. 2 there is a swordsman named Jin Uzuki, so Citan has to be a descendant...not to mention he has both of their properties...just wait...in episode 3 or 4 there's going to be a child named Citan....count on it... Actually Xenosaga Episode I and Xenogears take place in a 10,000 year span between them.
