"Kazuki!" Ari shouted, as the other fled again.
Should he follow? This confrontation had been...enlightening, but he understood that everyone needed their space. Was that all Kazuki wanted? Some time and space to himself?
Or was there yet another thing about Kazuki that he had missed? Although Ari couldn't possibly think of anything else, besides the BCRs, and what Kazuki had told him.
The need to know, about both Kazuki and the BCRs, won out in the end. He had lost Sigal already, and he wasn't about to loose any more children or his mate.
Due to his initial hesitation, Ari had to focus on the trail to find where Kazuki had run off to. Clouds covered the stars, taking away that scant light, and every now and then one would be brash enough to even cover the face of the moon, casting the land further into shadow, making Ari's task even that much more difficult.

Kazuki was still deeply focused on his prayer. He was definity upset and confused. When he got no answer he felt angry. He paced around in a circle mumbling and arguing with himself. what he a bad Elder? Would he be a good father? Would he and Ari and be able to handle their childern? These questions kept coming out in his mind. Finally he just sighed and laid down. Using his paws, he covered his face and just let out a frustrated cry.
It was long before her heard the sound of thunder over head. It was going to rain soon. As soon as he thought that the rain began to pour down from above. His ears twitched slightly from a few drops of water. Kazuki attempted to keep his mind blank but it was hard. It was then that he heard someone approach. He sniffed the air barely moving an inch and could tell who it was instantly. Why did Ari follow him? He sighed as his tail flicked back and forth hitting the now wet stone that was under it. He waited in silence with his face still covered by his paws, for what Ari would do.

"There's a cave a little bit back down the trail, if you want to get out of this," Ari suggested.
He looked at Kazuki, wondering what else to say. Forcing a confrontation in this, when Kazuki was in such a state, was a foolish idea.
Still, desire to know just what Kazuki wanted pressed upon him. Did Kazuki still want to be his mate? Just how serious was Kazuki about stepping down as elder? And what of the BCRs that were still on Kazuki's ears?
It had been bad enough to make Sigal and Twilight deal with how things were between him and Heartbreak. He didn't want these children to suffer the same thing. Especially since they would be able to see both parents every night.
Ari sighed, and waited to see what Kazuki would do.

Kazuki's ears only twitched as Ari spoke. He sighed and shook his head raising it a bit. His tail curled around him as he watched the lightning flash before hsi very eyes lighting the area.
"No I rather like the rain. Its very soothing at times." Kazuki then lowered his head glancing at his paws. He didn't know what to say was he being foolish? Why Ari right in that Kazuki shouldn't be talking nonsense. He looked up again letting the rain casade down onto his face as he closed his eyes for a moment. Finally he opened them.
"Ari..I...I am sorry." He turned to face his mate. He smiled but it was a sadly one. Then he lowered himself onto hisbelly looking up apologically at hsi mate.
"Will you forgive me for being stupid?" He watched Ari carefully hoping Ari will understand that he was thinking straight and said stupid things. Also that part of the reason for his misjudgement was the mood swings of the pregnacy.

"Of course. Would you count earlier today as one of those stupid things?" Ari asked, hopefully. Maybe things were better between them than Ari thought. Maybe these children wouldn't have to grow up, dealing with separated parents. Maybe these children could have a better family life than he had ever managed to offer his two eldest daughters.
Suddenly realizing that what he said could be taken the wrong way, Ari quickly added: "It's just...Moon Fox, I don't know what I'd do without you, as the other elder of the tribe, and I really don't know what I'd do without you...as my mate."

Kazuki laughed and nodded. Earlier he was being stupid. Slowly got up. Though he froze when he heard Ari's words. They brought a deep blush to his cheeks. He looked away and laughed nervously.
"Now Ari don't say that I am sure you could handle the tribe on your own..." He glanced over at Ari not able to believe the other Elder said such embarassing things about him. His tail tighted around himself and he looked away again. His cheeks still a bright shade of pink in contrast to his fur.

"I've been trying, and it hasn't been going well. There's so much going on--there's a new member who wishes to join, Nako has gone and gotten mated to one of the daughters of the Bamboo elders and apparently they don't know, they kits are nearly grown and need to find positions within the tribe..." And all of that had happened in just one night!
"Kazuki, please, tell me, will you come back to the tribe at least?" He didn't want to think about Kazuki stepping down as elder, he really didn't want to think about what would happen if Kazuki no longer wanted to be his mate, after the foolish things he had done--how could he not have noticed how Kazuki was acting? How could he have not known that they were going to have children?
But still, he would have to take things one step at a time.
"Not tonight, if you don't want to, but...You will come back eventually, won't you?" Ari pleaded.

Kazuki looked over at Ari then walked over and licked his mates cheek.
"I'll go back with you. As long and you promise to forgive me from leaving you like that." Kazuki smiled weakly. Then gently with unsureness he nuzzled his mates cheek.
"I see that when I left you seem to have fallen apart..." Then in a playful way he reached up and gently nipped on his mate's ear and tugged softly.
"Though I think I will need a bath first...Also some time to think things through before I just come strolling back with you." Kazuki looked at his mate. He could see in Ari's eyes how upset he was over all this. There was also regret. Kazuki felt bad now. He didn't want to upset Ari even if he was slightly mad that Ari hadn't noticed a thing.

He did wish that Kazuki had stayed, but knowing what he knew now, Kazuk's departure seemed much more reasonable than it had back then.
"What will you have to think about?" Ari asked, not really expecting an answer. It did seem that Kazuki did at least want to still be his mate, from how affectionate the other was being, and Ari happily nuzzled Kazuki's neck.

Kazuki smiled glad that his mate had forgiven him. Then he stepped away. Then looked out towards the forest.
"I just need to find my purpose again. " He glanced at Ari then smiled more.
"I promise I'll come back to the tribe once I find myself..So to speak." He smiled once more a bit sheepishly. Then began to stepped away. He almost didn't want to but knew he had too. Plus he would see Ari again soon enough.
"Until next time Ari..." There was no doubt that there were tears rolling down Kazuki's cheeks.

"Come back soon," Ari told him, stepping forward to lick away the tears, and then moving away again, to let Kazuki leave.
He didn't want to see Kazuki go again, now that he had finally tracked the other down, but he was going to have to just deal with that.
Moonlight glittering on Kazuki's ears caught Ari's attention, and reminded him of something.
"The BCRs...Do you want them along with you, or should I take them back to the tribe?" For something like this, it seemed like it would take longer than the time the kits needed to emerge from their sheltered rings.
But maybe not. Kazuki would know better the time needed than Ari would.

Kazuki jerked a bit surprised but let Ari lick away his tears. It made him smile but cry just a bit more. Then he nodded his head and was about to leave until the question was posed. He thought for a moment then answered.
"I shall return before the kits are born..." He smiled at his mate and fellow elder before he turned. He wouldn't return to the tribe for another day or two and when he did he would like a mess. Due to all the forest that would be clinging to his fur and the like.

Ari was surprised that Kazuki thought it would take such a short time, but not at all displeased. The sooner Kazuki came back to the tribe, the better, for all of them.
"I'll be waiting for you, then," Ari said, watching Kazuki leave.
((We done with this? Or do you want to time skip to Kazuki coming back?))
