[Hollow Point] Rellik San [-Nevermore-] Was the genre ever really there? That is the question, loves. These pretentious bastards WILL die soon enough. Their stink is over powering, though. It's like the bubonic plague. The genre was their, the question is, a matter of, was it the hardcore punks that started it, or was it the actual emotive hardcore bands.... that since 2002 have been called metalcore much to the confusion of old folks like me that spawned it. Metalcore isnt even a genre, if you ask me. The underground emo scene was there indeed, but I'm talking about the modern day version of it. THANK YOU! I've tried explaining that so many times to people. biggrin

I rue the day that a normally preppy kid dons studs and combat boots and says "I'm metal"

On the subject of genres getting popular for angsty bastards. My must punk be targeted by people. I mean I hate people saying Emo is a form of Punk. I mean Punk is a state of mind and Emo well...is a lack there of. I don't want to go to a punk show to see people hardcore dancing. >.< But I will go to a hardcore show to pick fights. Real hardcore people not the crap they shovel 3nodding

It was a punk band that couldnt play punk called "Rites of Spring" that starting using less aggressive instrumentals and angsty lyrics. Then it blew up from there.

I'm just really sick of the subculture. The music I can ignore. The people I can't.

what a load of horseshit....it does not stand for emotional. that's what little kids think it stands for. and 19 is the perfect age to be "emo". kids can't handle the subculture because they misinterpret the meaning of it. it has nothing to do with suicide, depression, or cutting. that's what people here on Gaia and in real life need to learn.

Hardcore + Metal = Metalcore Bands include: Converge, Bring Me The Horizon, Killswitch Engage, Integrity, Cro-Mags(kind of), Atreyu, Early A7X, Most of Victory, Trustkill, Equal Vision Records. It'd make more sense if Hardcore wasn't confused for bands like Hatebreed and Throwdown and know for the real bands like Turning Point, Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Black Flag. Hardcore is a style of Punk, not watered down Thrash Metal.

Actually ask pretty much anyone interested in heavy metal a genre I think I may just have the upper hand on... and they will tell you 'Metalcore isn't real'. Sorry to piss on your parade and all.

Oh s**t, too bad it's not a style of Metal. So what you or any other "Metalhead" have to say about it doesn't matter. Sorry to piss on your parade.
