Eclipse listened curiously, trying to follow. He didn't understand much of it, although the name Aedan did sound familiar. Didn't he hear Rosemary and Rowan talk about him before? Um...it had something to do with Saffron, Rose's Butterkyn...uh...Island of-no, Meadow of Life.

Now Clips remembered. The Princess of Edoc'sil had only been a few days old when she went to the meadow of life, and helped find the butterkyn eggs that was corrupting the eggs on the Island. Rose had been very young at the time, and apparently hadn't understood too much of it. Did that have something to do with this?

Eclipse listened more intently now, trying to make sense of it all. True Kyn, Lunar Elder, Otherkyn, Man-child? And what was it that he did, that was obviously something terrible? As the others asked questions, Eclipse stayed silent, a quiet listener.

He wondered though, why had he and the ones around him been called? Why had they answered the howl when the rest of their clan did not? And why did Eclipse himself so willingly left his bonded and clan members, to follow something unknown? It was all disturbing, but Eclipse found himself trying to ignore those questions.

For now, he'll listen and see what this 'Half True Kyn' has to say.

True kyn? Other kyn? New concepts swam through Rone's mind, and when he tried to sort them out he ended up more confused than before. He had lived his entire life in one, small area of the world, and everything was entirely new. In fact, this was the first time he had ever left his natal home. Was there truly so much more in the world than he first realized?

But he couldn't question the half-True kyn. After all, he had no prior knowledge of anything before he had arrived. Although he wondered fleetingly if all of this was true, he had no choice to believe the story, and wait for the inevitable bad ending once the others were done with their questions. When in usual circumstances he would have felt fear or dread of the truth, he was curious, and he wanted to know more.

Rone sat in silence, motionless except for the gentle movement of the tip of his tail.

The dog like gargoyle kyn tried her best to follow the story through without getting confused. There was alot of things she didn't understand, and she wanted to know more about what was going on. to her, "truekin" and "otherkin" had very little meaning at all. As far as she knew there was no difference between kyn besides what they looked like.

Teith was trying not to feel annoyed. She remembered faintly when poke had disapeared with the others, and when she got back had not told them anything of what happened, except that she found some sort of stone egg. Why didn't she tell them anything? perhaps she had found out something horrible and refused to say.

Tigris shifted, his ears flat to his head. Rutilus and his annoying little questions... he hadn't meant to let them have a long enough break to talk. He raised his taloned steel arm and scratched it idly along a rock before folding it back again. "No," he said at last. "True Kyn are very different from the Otherkin, born of the Mother's first clutch rather than the second. But I suppose our greatest difference is our ability to use the ancient tongue to its fullest potential-- that is how I called only you, the select few in whom I could place my trust-- and..."

He looked up, lashing his tail, and paced slowly. It was unnerving as his eyes passed from one to the next of them, as though carefully watching his prey. "We cannot use your magic tomes, but we do not need them. We have the true power granted by the Mother-- We have the Voice." His tail lashed. "Each of us has a single Voice. It is less... versatile than your magic, but it is a natural power that is many, many times greater than your greatest mages. It ranges from a command over fire to... to my Water-Walk." He stepped back a bit.

"I am afraid that in my efforts to make safe passage across the continent, some of you may have seen me in passing before, and I apologize if I have harmed anyone in the process. I am the Water-Walker. I can run fast enough to cross oceans." He paused. "And that is why I am here. The Man-Child feared the True Kyn, because he could not control us with his magic tomes. He hated and feared us, and so he turned the Mother against us. He used her to banish us from the mainland. She made an Island and placed upon it a Temple that called my father's people across a land bridge, and then she flew out after us and destroyed the land bridge. And when she arrived on the island... she died. She had exhausted her strength." He snarled a bit and shook his head to whisk air through his fur. "The Man-Child exiled my people from the mainland and killed the Mother. My people cannot swim or fly; that is why I came alone."

He sat down after a moment. "The Emperor of our people is Rikkashan, whom we call Father. It is he who called my mother, the Lunar Otherkin Ansil, across the land bridge before it was destroyed. He wants nothing but to reunite us with the Kyn of the mainland, but because our people are wingless they will need the help of Otherkin. They need to breed with winged Otherkin to produce half-True Kyn with wings who can carry them. They are too large for you to carry them, I'm afraid.I am here to offer those of you capable of flight a new life-- you will be revered and respected, and every need will be catered to if you go to live on the Island of Death, as it has been called. It is where the Black Temple sits, the antithesis to the White Temple of the Meadow of Life. There you will have everything you desire. As for the Lunars..." He frowned. "You can spread the word in secret, among those who can be trusted. When the True Kyn return, you will be rewarded." He smiled and stepped back some. "Are there any questions, then?"

Rinu and Teith were generaly shocked at this offer. To leave their home, and go to an island and breed with other kyn, with their every need catered for? What a life that would be!

Rinu was sitting there and thinking. The offer sounded great, but could she leave the saftey of her clan to go to a place she had never been before? She looked at the others that have gathered; what were their thoughts?

Teith was a little more sceptical of the story she was told. It sounded horrible that the true mother had perished, but the idea that the man child was the direct result? she wasn't sure. And what of this island?

"will we ever be able to leave this island if we chose to go?" she asked the true kyn. While it would be easy to fly back, there was no telling what other duties they would be required to perform.

Madoc had listened in silence to Tigris's story and the other kyns' questions. Now his mind turned over the information he had heard, as well as the offer. It was certainly horrible what had happened to the True Kyn, but would he be willing to leave his denmates and bonded to go to the island of the True Kyn?

Madoc shifted uncertainly, causing the large red bow affixed to his left shoulder to rustle slightly. He looked down at it thoughtfully. That bow signified that he came to live with Kailind as a sign of friendship, in a time of goodwill towards others. For that reason, he enjoyed that time of year and what it signified. If he liked such sentiments so much, shouldn't he do his best to act upon them whenever possible? Wouldn't that mean he should do what he could to help the True Kyn and bring them and the Otherkyn back together?

Still, this was not a decision to be made lightly. He looked around at the other kyn gathered, then at Tigris. He remembered that the unusual Lunar -- or half-Lunar, it seemed -- mentioned some abilities that True Kyn had. His mind wandered off on a tangent as he speculated what they might be like. He suddenly blurted out, "Hey, if we go with you, could we learn how to use the ancient tongue, too?'

Eclipse looked down and scratched the ground with one paw, finally realizing that he had sketched a passable version of the Edoc'sil's symbol: a silhouetted version of Rosemary in flight;bow clutched in one claw;fire spouting from her maw.

The Half-kyn's offer sounded tempting, but as a Lunar, he could hardly do much. Look for trusted ones to impart this secret to -for Eclipse was sure that they needed to keep this a secret to all but a few? Eclipse knew no Kyns outside the Edoc'sil clan, knew no humans other then Rowan and family, and the boy Alan that comes to visit often.

But did Eclipse truly trust any of them with this? Rosemary had always been a proud one, and said that she would not mate with one that has not proven themselves worthy. Eclipse doubted that there were many kyn that will impress her, and she seems to cherish flight. If these 'True Kyns' are indeed flightless, Rosemary will hardly find the time to bother with them. It was an unlucky thing for her indeed, that she was the princess of two Lunars and a Lunar egg.

As mentioned above, the rest of the Clan were all Lunars, flightless, and of no use to the 'True-kyn's' plan. Eclipse felt disappointed that he couldn't be of much help, then wondered why he wanted to help the True-kyns anyways.

Everything sounds so out of his control to the young Lunar. What Kyn had the power to create a whole Island, then erase away the land bridge? What sort of power would that take?

Eclipse himself was the best spell-caster of Edoc'sil, even though Rosemary had many more months of practice then he. Earth, Light, and Darkness, and a little experimental element he had created himself that he named Twilight and Dawn. He had mastered them all, but even wielding powerful Earth magic he can never hope to raise an Island. It would require so much rock and soil, to pile up from the bottom of the water, and even more to support it, so that it does not get eroded back into the waves.

And to submerge a whole area into water away! The Land bridge...to move so much earth. Eclipse shook his head, unnerved about the powers he is hearing about.

"When the True Kyn return, you will be rewarded." When they return. Eclipse can't help but wonder what they will do once they come to the mainland. Will they hunt down this Aedan person, whom they seemed to have so much anger against? Bloodshed is not a common thing amongst the Kyn world, at least not in the peaceful confines of the Unconquerable Cave. The prospect frightened Clips.

The island of Death. The Dark temple. It all sounded like things out of a story to scare a small child into bed. But he didn't doubt Tigris' sincerity.

Again, as the others asked their questions, Eclipse remained unnaturally quiet to those who didn't know him well. He regretted the fact that he was of little use here.

Somehow, he had reached a decision. He won't tell his beloved bonded Rowan all of this. The only one in their clan with wings was Rose, and she was loyal to Rowan. She will never desert the girl to mate with flightless kyns, TrueKyn, Otherkyn, whatever they were called.

He'll listen, as he always did. Perhaps there would be some piece of helpful information for him, something that he will be able to do...

Rutilus tensed almost imperceptibly at the threat he percieved in Tigris' scraping foreclaw. And the look in the not-lunar's eyes...cold, predatory. Not the eyes of one who would be likely to "put his trust" in a group of creatures considered inferior, "Other" rather than "True."

The half-truekyn's explanations raised more questions in Rutilus' mind than it quelled. What should the clutch from which a kyn is born have to do with anything? True, there were differences in ability, but wasn't that true of all kyns? And, hadn't Myrrh told him that all kyn eggs came from or were represented in flowers in the Meadow of Life, the beautiful and powerful island that could never be found, apparent antithesis (for so Tigris had said) of this Island of Death? Also, how did the Man-Child, Aedan, control kyn with magic tomes? Wasn't it the kyn themselves who learned and controlled the magic through the power of the spells contained in the pages?

Too many questions. The oversized gargoyle screwed his eyes shut for a moment and gave his head a brief shake. It would take too long to ask them all, even if Rutilus did believe that Tigris would answer all of them honestly without becoming angry. There was one thing that was cemented in the sandy kyn's mind: this new creature, born of two divisions of kyn, was dangerous, a force to be reckoned with.

Despite all this, though, Rutilus couldn't deny that the promises being made to him, of being revered and respected, were tempting. To be more than a simple shield for his sisters and flightmistress against human attack, to belong, perhaps even to be loved by another Kyn...And anyway, he'd be helping the Truekyn (or so the large gargoyle told himself, for the prospect was seeming more and more interesting by the moment), giving them what they lacked, wouldn't he?...And yet, that bond he had formed with Draconargentum from his hatching tugged back in the other direction, toward Crater Lake. After a moment's pause, Rutilus ventured another quiet question, prompted by that insistent bond:

"If we do go...will we be bound to the Truekyn and Island of Death, or free to do as we please after our assistance?"

Rone couldn't believe what he was hearing. He was both horrified and awed by the death of the Mother and what the Man-Child had done. Horrified that she died in the end, and that the Man-Child had controlled her so, but awed by the power it had to take to create and island and destroy the land bridge. He couldn't imagine how any kyn could have managed such a task. Rone had very little power of his own, limited to changing the amount of humidity in the air around him to form a light mist. The power was only useful to keep him hidden when traveling through his natal lands.

Hiding. That's what he felt like doing right now. As an unwinged Lunar, he couldn't help the true kyn. He felt as if he shouldn't be there, as if he was intruding on a personal matter he had no right to witness. But Rone forced himself to sit still and rest until everything was settled. He would take the job given to him, no matter how menial. He didn't know any other humans or kyn outside his Bonded and Lukos, the First. He would have to travel to new places to meet new kyn... the project was beginning to appeal to the Lunar.

He wouldn't tell the others of his mission. His bonded had nothing to do with this, so it would be best to keep her out of it. And Lukos... he was too close to her. The two Lunars were not related, but they had hatched the very same day, just seconds apart. When they were young, life had been a competition. They competed for everything... the best sleeping quarters in the den, the bonded's attention... Lukos had been stronger and had hatched a full three seconds (or so he claimed) before Rone, earning the title of First. While Rone had a strong bond with her, Lukos was stronger still... And even now animosity lingered between the Lunars. No, he wouldn't tell Lukos. Not that he would be much help as a fellow Lunar anyway.

Rone couldn't help feel a twang of jealousy against the winged kyn gathered there. While they would live in luxury, he would have to stay here, working behind the scenes. He watched Tigris closely, noting his manner and the way his gaze swept across them. Would the half-true kyn keep his word, and reward the Lunars as well?
PostPosted: Sun Aug 26, 2007 1:47 pm

Tsukikaijuu couldn't help but feel his blood boil slightly. Of course, the lunars would not get to go to this amazing place to help these poor True Kyn. Of course he would have to stay behind and, likely, deal with that b*****d human, who probably despised him by now. He should have known better than to get his hopes up. He knew no winged or flying Kyn- Only the ones around him. The lucky ones who got to go on an adventure, become something larger than themselves.

And he was stuck here. Because he was a Lunar Kyn. Perhaps Lunar Kyn were even less-ranked than the flying Other Kyn?

The True Kyn said that he would still be rewarded for spreading the word, but who knows how long the process would take for the half-True Kyn to make their way to the mainland? What if the Man-Child struck again and wiped out the True Kyn on their island once and for all? Did he have that much power? And Tsukikaijuu wouldn't be able to help at all, directly.

He couldn't help the wave of pessimism that seemed to overwhelm him at this point, but he tried to show as little of it as he could.

Another thing nagged at him as well: This Kyn seemed convinced that because he was a True Kyn, he was superior to the Other Kyn. Well, where was that now? They were the ones who needed the help, and the Other Kyn were the only ones who could help. Yet Tsuki couldn't help but notice the seeming regret and reluctance in his voice, especially as he clawed the rock. What if the True Kyn Tigris, in his hate of the Other Kyn, didn't ever reward them at all?

Something about that feeling bothered him greatly, but still not as much as the fact he would likely only be able to know these events existed, unable to do anything. The lunar Kyn wondered if he would even hear of this again, or if after the flying ones left he would never again hear word of this?

Of course, he would still remember. Still remember that, because of his species, he would be unable to accomplish anything at this point. Tsuki relaxed his eyes at this point, realizing that they had been narrowed ever since Tigris had mentioned that the Lunars were to stay here and do nothing but send others to a potential life of luxury while they remained here, knowing that others were happy and well-taken care of because they could fly.

After listening to the horrifying story of the Mother-Kyn and her untimely death, after listening to all of the terrible things that the Man-Child had done, how was he supposed to stay and do nothing? This was just like the situation with his human- Being barred from adventure that could have brought him happiness beyond imagine. But now...not only was he doomed to stay on the main-land, but he could not help others escape a horrible fate as well.

There were so many questions going through is head now. What would happen to the flying kyn? What would happen to him? Is the man-child still alive, endangering the True Kyn? Would he ever get to do something interesting for once, or was he doomed to walk towards an open door, only to have it slam in his face? Eventually there wouldn't be any more open doors, he reasoned. Then I'll only have to be bitter over what I could have had a long time ago, and not what is currently slamming on me.

But the Lunar said nothing, voicing none of his questions. He wasn't sure he wanted to know any more. The less he heard about what he would miss, the better, he Tsuki reasoned.

But telling other flying Kyn...That seemed out of the question. Why should they get to go when he couldn't? But then Tsuki remembered the True Kyn, trapped on that island because of the b*****d Man-Child. No, he would tell others. But he would hate every minute of it, because it was another Kyn that had what Tsuki did not.

He never thought that he might not want the True Kyn to survive, that they may see the Other Kyn as so inferior that they did not deserve to exist. The idea that the adventure may not be as amazing as he thought never came to him. All he could feel was resentment, jealousy and hatred.

Tigris took no notice of the inner conflict of the Lunars, but he himself shared such a conflict. Once there were others like him with wings, he would become unnecessary; the Water-Walker would become obsolete and then what would happen to Tigris? But for now he raised his right paw to rub at his face, then shook his head quickly, letting the shake run down his whole body. At last he sat down again and responded, "Should you decide to leave, we would not stop you. You would go with Emperor Rikkashan's blessing, I am sure."

He offered another smile, but it became a frown as his ears flicked back when he heard the next question. "Ah... perhaps you have misunderstood. You may be able to learn the Ancient Tongue, but it takes many years. And the Voice is something different... it is not related to the Ancient Tongue. The Voice is... a natural power. It is not something you can learn, it is something you are born with. It will become more clear when you arrive on the Island, I promise you that."

He looked up sharply. The sun was peaking over the horizon, and by light of day Tigris had to be hidden again where none could find him. "... Go now, unless you wish to come to the Island immediately. I can lead you there at any time. If you need time to think, you can come to this place again and roar. I will arrive within the hour." He stepped back some, head low. "If you have made your decision already, step forward and I will lead you to the Black Temple. If not, return quickly to your homes. I will wait."
PostPosted: Wed Aug 29, 2007 1:53 pm

This is it.

The lunar's upper lip twitched, but he did not snarl. There was no point in him staying any longer- Nothing awaited him here. He gave one last, bitter look to each of the flying Kyn in turn, eyes narrowed, before he pulled himself into a trot and began to meander away in the direction that he had come.

He was pissed- There was no way around it. His instincts had told him to attack for the simple fact that he could. But his reasoning had managed to hold, for he realized that fighting would have no effect on anything except for spilling blood needlessly.

Slowly trees began to grow around his running form, and soon the forest became thicker and thicker. As he ran, he thought. He thought about whether he would help send other Kyn to a life of luxury while he stayed behind, never getting to see this wondrous place known as the Black Temple.

But still...the story of the Mother-Kyn and the Man-Child lingered in the back of his mind. To not help would practically be murder- Tsuki didn't want that.

But he wanted an adventure. An adventure like the others, the flying Kyn. But now adventure was out of his reach.

The lunar slowed to a walk as he reached that dreaded place. He peered up at the foreboding cave entrance, dark eyes narrow. He pricked his ears, listening for sound. Had the human left already?

But what he heard did not please him at all.

"Human."

"Hwah-mahn?" A little, high-pitched voice squeeked.

Tsuki had been replaced already. Instinctively he growled, and suddenly the high-pitched voice was silent. Through the entrance of the cave appeared a little baby Kyn, her blue eyes peering at the larger in wonder.

He snarled at the little one, and then took off into the forest. He had decided now: The Kyn would tell others about the True Kyn's desperate call for flying Kyn. He would hate every moment of it, but murder was simply out of the question.

But he simply couldn't face that damn human. He had adopted another Kyn in his place, without even waiting a day to see if he would return. Tsuki was now running as fast as he could, faster, faster. He ran on for what seemed like forever, not knowing where he would end up.

He honestly didn't care.

(( Larisha... Please. Please dear gods use a darker font. ))

Duncan had been perched quietly, listening attentively to every word that came from the strange half-breed's maw. It was true that other Kyn hated him... Hated him deeply, if only for the stained claws he bore through no fault of his own.

He had started to shake, and he was sure that the visitor could see such. But that was of no concern now... He would miss his Rider, his Bonded...but none of the others. His own flight feared and detested him, yet they had accepted such an oddity as Lorne!

Dipping his head, the Eastern slunk forward, belly low to the ground.

"I wish to go with you."
PostPosted: Wed Aug 29, 2007 4:29 pm

Rutilus ground his back teeth together for a moment before he also stepped forward to stand beside Duncan (whose overly submissive behavior he found surprisingly incongruous to the Japanese's fearsome appearance; what could possibly have caused that?). Ninja and the rest of the flight had no need of his presence: how could they? They could fend for themselves against humans, and he was nothing more than another wall, a superfluous one, against invasion. His bond to the human who had aided his hatching tugged sharply at this thought, but he pushed it away. He was unnecessary, just a draw on resources. They would be better without him.

Already they were faced with the decision to go with Tigris to the island, and two of the kyn here had said yes. The lunar had glowered to her before leaving, and now that left two more lunars, rinu and herself. What would their decision be?

At the moment, she herself was of no help to poke and the rest of the clan. She had no idea were they went, and did not know of any magic which could track them down. To be able to help these people..it sounded grand.

But what if this was a trap? Surely names such as "island of death" and "black temple" could not mean well. Regardless of what the water-walker had said; there was no way of knowing if it was the truth.

She was about to ask her comrad in this when Rinu had held her head up and said in a rough sort of voice; "I will come as well!" and trotted over to were the others stood. It seemed that to the gargoyle that, as long as she could return home then it would be fine.

With a sigh, Teith joined rinu as one of the few who would make this journey. She did not want to leave the other withouting knowing what would happen to her.
