I myself have tried to play it, but found it hard to get into it. But I did pick up the fantasy style one, Rune Factory. That one is promising. ^^ You get monsters you fought to help you out on the farm.

The Harvest Moon series is crazy-addictive.

I have A Wonderful Life, and I understand why you wouldn't find it appealing.
I personally love the game, but it is very focused on the raising of your child
instead of creating an agricultural name for yourself,
as is the basis of all the other games.

My FAVORITE Harvest Moon game is Rune Factory,
I've loved RPG's since forever,
and having these two elements combined
creates a game that is absolutely perfect.

Well, people like Harvest Moon for the same reasons they like Animal Crossing. It's cute, and it's a break from killing things. I personally got tired of Harvest Moon quickly, but that's because I'm just used to the action that goes on in the games I play. It's not that Harvest Moon is a bad game, it just got a little boring. Also, I heard that Another Wonderful Life and Rune Factory weren't all that great, but since I never was big on Harvest Moon, I can't name any other suggestions.....well, if you want an alternative, there's always Animal Crossing. But, you'll probably throw the game out the window as soon as you hear the annoying language in the game, and even Animal Crossing got PAINFULLY boring after a while.

In my opinion, rune factory is the best harvest moon game to date. it gives you more options of things to do. You can fight and explore dungons, capture and tame monsters and it has most of the functions of the old game. But, thare are a few things that I find annoying with it. If you have a DS you should try it.

I love the Harvest Moon series....someone asked me why one time and I just kinda stared at them blankly before coming to the realization that i had no idea....haha! I would love to try Rune Factory, but I've no idea where to get it....before I was in this guild, I didn't even about it....but if it's part of the HM series, it's gotta be good

Hey now, Animal Crossing is a good game in its own right! sad
Anyway, I personally like More friends of mineral town because time seems to move a bit faster and you get to be a girl and go woo some handsome men!

A Wonderful Life wasn't my favorite Harvest Moon...I think Harvest Moon: Back to Nature (for PS1) was the best one. There are also versions of HM: BtN for the GBA as well.

I love Harvest Moon, but honestly some of them are very different, and I really disliked A Wonderful Life. The PS2 version's even worse because the port made it choppy, slow, and finicky. If you don't like A Wonderful Life even after replay, may I suggest Magical Melody for the gamecube? It has very different gameplay.

Back To Nature (originally for the PS1) is often touted by many as one of the best in the series if not THE best, and is currently available ported to the PSP as HM: Boy and Girl. I'd suggest the N64 version as well, but it has not been ported and is difficult to find. At any rate, these games have more festivals, and in my opinion better interaction with the other villagers, along with other things.
