Relief flooded Kitsumi as the other Kitsu regained balance, and she let out a sigh. "'kay, maybe I'll stop climbing trees for a while." She muttered, ears flat. "Or anywhere high, for that matter."
Kalliope blinked at Phoenix's grin, before returning it with one of her smiles. "You're welcome. I did say that, despite my size, I'd do what I can to help." Gliding back a little to give him more room, she gave an encouraging nod. "I'm sure you can do it, Mr. Wright."
Looking up as she was addressed, Kitsumi nodded at Phoenix. "Ready as I'll ever be!" The moment he leaped, she sucked in a breath, before slowly letting it out. Hey! This was actually rather fun! For her, at least. She hadn't noticed Phoenix's wing smash into a branch, but Kalliope and the others certainly did, and they all winced.
The small Angelic followed beside them, though she knew by this point, where they cleared the tree, they would probably be fine. As they drew closer to the ground, she and the others could feel relief sink in.
Once they were still rather high but, but far closer to the ground that before, Kitsumi wriggled free and jumped towards the ground, despite the height. Somehow, the usually clumsy Kitsusagi landed squarely on her feet, her tail wagging. "That was fun! We should do that again!" Rushing over, Edgeworth stopped in front of her, ears flattened, the concern for her replaced with fury. "What did you think you were doing?"
Guo Hua watched silently, while Kalliope, still bewildered that Kitsumi had suddenly jump down, hovered in the air, her wings flapping slowly. "...At least your load was lightened, Mr. Wright."

"Just promise you won't climb so high next time," Phoenix told Kitsumi with a wry grin on his face. "Or grow your own pair of wings. Then we can both suck at flying."
He seemed a little surprised at Kitsumi suddenly letting go of him to jump down the rest of the way. He had meant for her to do that, but not so soon. Still, he was relieved that his load was sufficiently lighter. Phoenix descended the rest of the way to the ground, landing with a dull thud. He immediately sunk down onto the grass to catch his breath, panting hard, eyelids closing with his exhaustion. He tried folding up his wings, but the left one simply wouldn't - it smarted heavily with pain now and trying to fold it up only aggravated it further. So he let it hang at his side, folding the right one up and out of the way.
A slow amused grin made it's way across his face as he listened to Edgeworth scold the female. "Some things will never change." he thought to himself. After a few more moments, he sat up again finally, dusting off his clothes. He smiled at Guo Hua's words, and nodded.
"Indeed." He grinned. "It was easier once she had let go, but I didn't mind going up there to get her in the first place. Better than letting her go splat." He quickly added, muttering. "Though, I still hate heights..."

"If do that again Kitsumi, I -SWEAR- I'll chain you indoors." Edgeworth's threat didn't even make Kitsumi blink. Instead, she merely grinning, her tails waving like a flag caught in a windstorm. Even after that, her mood was still rather high. This earned her a frown, and then a long line of scolding from Edgeworth, who was determined to shove sense into her mind.
Guo Hua let out a small laugh, though it seemed rather bland and flat. "Very noble of you, Mr Wright." She commented, as Kalliope landed, still looking rather surprised. At the same time, the two caught sight of the way his left wing hung, and the small Angelic kit's ears flattened. Seeing a wing like that rather frightened her in some ways. Afterall, at the moment, she was a mere kit, and the idea of hurting her wings in some way...
Finally seeming to have noticed, Edgeworth turned his attention towards Phoenix as he caught the sound of a whimper from Kalliope. Eyebrows shooting up, he started towards them. "Wright, what's wrong with that wing of yours?" Alarmed, Kitsumi bounded to follow, tumbling to a stop in front of the group. While Guo Hua righted the Kitsusagi up, Edgeworth and Kalliope took a closer look.
Kalliope pawed at the wing very gently, her ears flat. "What happened to you wing, Mr Wright?" She asked, softly.

Phoenix made a soft chuckle at Guo Hua's comment. "It was nothing really," He said, scratching the back of his head. "I'm sure anyone else would have done the same if they could. I just... didn't want to see her get hurt."
When his left wing was touched, he was quick to pull it up and out of the way. It smarted badly but the Kitsusagi forced a grin onto his face, trying to indicate that he was still alright.
"I'm OK, I'm OK." He said quickly, both to Kalliope and Edgeworth, not wanting them to be concerned. "I don't think it's damaged or anything." He turned his attention to Kitsumi and sighed.
"Well, um," He began, pondering how best to explain without making the situation sound terrible, or like it was her fault. "I hit my wing while flying out of the tree. Have you ever knocked your elbow by mistake? It's sort of like that - it hurts for a while, but then it goes away. I'll be alright. Just don't go climbing any more trees for a while huh?" He shook his head. "Or at least practise your balancing first."

Guo Hua blinked, before sighing. "Unfortunately, that -child- tends to put herself in many stupid and dangerous situations. I find it rather shocking Mr. Edgeworth and Mr. Saix haven't had heart attacks yet..." She paused, before adding, "Not that I can see Mr. Saix losing his composure over anything, really."
When Phoenix pulled his wing back, the little Angelic kit fell back with a startled squeak, flapping her own wings as if to try to soften the fall. Rising slowly, she eyed Phoenix's wing with a frown, her ears still pinned back. "Does it hurt a lot?"
Snorting, Edgeworth too, eyed the wing. "Wright, it may not be seriously damaged, but I'm sure it's still damaged in some way. Otherwise, you wouldn't let it hang like that." He paused, to nod at Kalliope. "Go get some ice or something, hn?" Nodding, the little kit bounded off quickly towards the house.
Kitsumi frowned, head tilted and ears pinned back as the winged Kitsusagi spoke. "Waaah! I'm sorry you got hurt because of me!" She whimpered, laying down and lowering her head onto her paws, abashed. "I just though it'd be fun to go climbing today, but I didn't think someone wouldn't try to save me, and get hurt in the process!"

Phoenix shook his head, looking rather unhappy as Kalliope fell back. He really hadn't meant to do that at all.
"Sorry!" He said quickly. "You OK? I really didn't mean to do that..." He sighed. "Uh, it doesn't hurt a lot. It'll get better soon enough, I'm sure." He gave her a friendly lopsided grin, as if trying to fortify the statement.
"And hey! Its not your fault!" Phoenix was quick to reply to Kitsumi, waving his paws at the girl. "It's my fault - I don't know how to fly so well, and well, yeah..." He sighed, shaking his head. "Don't be sad. If I had paid more attention before jumping out of the tree, I'd be alright. And hey, cheer up. We got to the ground safe enough, didn't we?"
He sat back on his hinds, glancing at the left wing. It certainly wasn't broken, but it didn't feel right. He wiggled it slightly, deciding to let it hang again. If he rested it for a while, maybe it wouldn't hurt so much...
"That goes for you too, Edgeworth." He turned his attention to the other male, frowning. "Don't worry about it. I'll be alright. Not like I need the wing anyway either - I can't fly. I'm not the best with heights, either. I think it's best if I remain a ground dweller."

Quickly, as Phoenix apologized, Kalliope rose both paws as if to ward it off. Smiling, she gave a little shake of her head. "I'm fine Mr. Wright! Don't worry about it. I just lost my balance a little." Then, the frown appearing on her face, she shifted, still eying the wing. "I hope you'll get better soon then. If it hurts, Mr. Wright, please don't hesitate to tell us."
Kitsumi had sprawled out on the ground, her paws over her eyes, when the winged Kitsusagi spoke to her. Sliding her paws down onto her muzzle, she listened quietly for a moment, before wailing, "But you wouldn't have to had tried to fly if I didn't climb into the tree!" She pointed out, before covering her eyes again.
Edgeworth watched as Kalliope went to get some ice, before turning back to Phoenix and Kitsumi. Awkwardly, he moved behind the female Kitsu, patting her back. "Er, there there?" He said, rather stiffly.
As he was addressed, Edgeworth turned up to look at Phoenix, before sighing. "I suppose so, but with it hanging like that, it'll get in your way. Perhaps you should relax for a while." He suggested, thinking the same thing as Phoenix had, "Perhaps some rest will help."

Phoenix frowned and tried to slowly fold the left wing up on his back, despite the stinging pain it caused him to do so. That didn't last long however - the Kitsusagi soon let the wing hang again, sighing. "I hope it doesn't need a splint, or something." He muttered, more to himself than anything.
"Wait - ice on feathers?" He turned his attrention to Edgeworth, not seeming to like the idea at all. "Won't that get uncomfortable? Wet hair is one thing, but wet feathers... when they get wet, they stick together." He shook his head. "No, I'm sure just resting it will be fine enough. You didn't need to send the little one away to get anything."
"Thanks for the thought, though. You know... maybe you have changed, Edgeworth." He gave the other male a slight grin. "I'm glad. I always knew that gruff exterior was just for show."

Laying on the ground, and seeming rather calm, Guo Hua's ears pricked automatically as the injured Kitsusagi spoke. Paws pressed against her jade ball, her gaze flickered to Phoenix, before she gave a shake of her head. "I'm sure it won't. As long as you can resist trying to move it, it should be fine. Perhaps we could also find you a healer. I've heard some of the winged Kitsusagi like little Kalliope, angelics, had unique abilities." She commented, before turning her gaze away and back to her jade ball.
"Uncomfortable or not," Edgeworth replied, "If you sprained your wing or something of the sort, it would be best to have a little ice handy, in case of swelling. Besides," He continued, turning his gaze as the sound of steps approached them, "Kalliope is back."
As the angelic kit walked towards them, bag of ice in mouth, Edgeworth turned in surprise at his formal rival and friend's words. For a moment, he seemed rather uncomfortable, before putting up his gruff front again. "Don't be ridiculous Wright. I merely feel guilty you were injured because of one of my family member's carelessness, is all." This earned a whimper from Kitsumi. Hastily, he added, "Not that it was Kitsumi's fault."
Trotting up to the group, Kalliope stopped on front of Phoenix, lowering her head and dropping the bag of ice in front of his feet. "There you are, Mr. Wright."

Phoenix seemed thoughtful after listening to Guo Hua. He turned his attention to her jade ball, tilting his head at it slightly with curiousity.
"A healer? You mean like a medic or a doctor?" He wondered. It didn't occur to him that Kitsusagi had special powers. "I wouldn't mind that, but I can't say I'm terribly fond of those, either." He chuckled for a moment. "Oh, what is that ball thing you're carrying around? Is it special?"
He flicked his ears in Edgeworth's direction, turning his head towards him a moment later. "I'm not sure it's that bad that it's going to swell up." He replied, looking at the left wing. "It would look puffy if it did that. Yuck..."
He merely grinned at Edgeworth's reply to his comment, and shook his head, giving up on pressing him about his attitudes for now. He watched the small Angelic trot up to him with the bag of ice, and he picked it up, nodding thankfully.
"Thank you very much, Kalliope. This is going to be really useful." He said quickly, sitting up properly to look at the bag of ice. "Um... now. How best to do this..." He flattened the wing out completely, and then placed the ice on the outermost part where it had been hurt, lying on his belly soon after. It felt weird to have the weight of the ice-bag on his outstretched wing, but the cold was soothing.
He sighed, closing his eyes again, not being able to do much else right now. He would have to sit like that for a while and let the cold of the ice do it's work on his injury.
"Well, this has certainly been an interesting day so far, I wasn't really expecting anything like this to happen." He said. "At least Kitsumi's going to be all right. I was originally just coming back to let you guys know that I think I found somewhere to build my house. Not that far away, but it was a nice patch of land." He grinned, relaxing, resting his head on his front paws. "A very interesting day so far indeed."

Flicking her tails back and forth, Guo Hua smoothed her paw over her precious jade ball absentmindedly. Even when the other Kitsusagi spoke to her, she didn't look up. It would have been hard to determine if she had heard at all, if not for the thought in her eyes, before she answered.
"I suppose you can think of them like that." She agreed, finally looking over at him, "Though with instant results perhaps, rather than like going to a doctor for a diagnosis." Then, she sighed, "It seems like you aren't fond of many things, Mr. Wright." She commented, drily. "Flying, doctors...pickles."
The Luck Kitsusagi probably could have gone on, if she hadn't been presented a question to answer. For a moment, she seemed to stiffen a bit, before lowering her gaze onto her jade ball as she spoke. "Special...yes. I was born with this lovely jade ball, and though that's enough to most to consider it special, we luck Kitsusagi tend to guard these with our lives, as that’s exactly what we lose, if we were to lose them.” She then proceeded to shift uncomfortably, before giving a small laugh. “Or so I would assume. Afterall, why else would we guard them so preciously?”
Having not noticed the conversation, Edgeworth only snorted at the words that were directed to him. “A little ice as precaution can’t hurt.” He pointed out, before flattening his ears and grumbling, “I sound like a mother.”
“You’re welcome, Mr. Wright.” The angelic kit said politely as Phoenix took the ice. She watched as he closed his eyes, and chirped, “If you need anything, please feel free to ask any one of us, alright?” Giving a nod and small smile, she padded off to comfort Kitsumi, who was still looking rather depressed.
Edgeworth rose both brows in surprise as the Kitsusagi spoke, before snorting. “Sounds like a rather nice place. Congratulations then, Wright.” This was echoed by the others, even Kitsumi who, in her glee, bounced up and yelped, ‘YAAAY! Congrats Nick!’ before remembering that she was supposed to be sad, and quickly lowered her head again.

"Flying, doctors, pickles, heights, murderers, milk, needles, thunderstorms, guns, large dogs, and traffic." Phoenix glanced skywards as he thought of all the things he didn't like. "Oh, and driving, but I don't have to do any of that here." He nodded, seeming happy about that.
"It must be hard work guarding a heavy ball that's as big as your head." Phoenix frowned. Glad I don't have to do it. Though, if it brings you luck and good fortune, I should probably start carrying one around myself. Bad luck always seems to find me one way or another." He gave a weak chuckle and grinned at Edgeworth's statement. "And yeah, you do sound like a mother. I never would have guessed you were the caring type."
"I'll let you know, Kalli," He nodded at the small Angelic, continuing to grin. "Though, the ice was a good idea. It's already feeling a bit better." He glanced back at the wing, having to admit that the ice was doing a world of good. The pain in his wing was dulled now, and the cold was soothing.
"Thanks for the congratulations," He wagged his tails. "But I'm not out of your hair just yet. I still have to build the place, gather supplies, that sorta thing. I'm not even really sure how to go about building a house, either. I'm no architect - I'm an attorney. Any ideas where and how to start?"

The corners of Guo Hua's mouth twitched as she suppressed an amused smile as the attorney Kitsusagi reeled off a rather long list. "Thats...quite a few things you dislike." She commented, trying to prevent her voice from wavering with laughter. "And indeed, you won't have to worry about driving here. Mr. Edgeworth was rather irritated about that part, I heard, when he first arrived."
"Mm, I suppose," She agreed, thoughtfully, "However since I've been carrying this evern since I was but a child, I'm used to it now. Really, I usually forget I have it with me at all, to be honest." The black Kitsusagi gave a little shake of her head. "I'm certain your luck will improve eventually, Mr. Wright."
Pressing his mouth into a firm line, Edgeworth glanced at Phoenix as he spoke, before turning away, flustered. "I'm not really a caring type, Wright, but I'm not a monster either." A soft giggle came from Kitsumi, who muttered, "No, but you are a grumpy pants most of the time."
Kalliope nodded. "I'm glad to hear that it's helping, Mr Wright. I'm sure your wing will feel much better after this, and then a little rest." She paused, and grinned. "You'll be flying again in no time." The Angelic kit couldn't help but tease, giggling. "I'll give you lessons next time though."
Kitsumi bounced up. "Oh! Oh! We'll help you with all the building!" She offered, her tails waving behind her like helicoptor blades. Edgeworth sighed, while the other two nodded their agreement. "And as for where to start..." Kitsumi furrowed her brows. "WELL. It's be good to start from the bottom of the house, and then the roof." She said, with a nod.
No, really?

Phoenix had to chuckle at Gua Hua's statement, the mental picture of Edgeworth being angry at having no car forming in his mind as she spoke. He guessed that sounded about right, too. He gave Edgeworth a thoughtful glance next, giving him an acknowledging nod of his head shortly after. He knew it had always been hard for the prosecuting attorney to express his feelings and that sometimes it was impossible to read him exactly, but at least he knew he cared. He was about to comment on this, only ending up chuckling at Kitsumi's additional comment.
"Ah don't worry Kitsumi. Everybody gets grumpy sometimes," He grinned. "Just that some folks get grumpier than others."
He gritted his teeth in embarrasment for a moment at Kalliope's comment on flying, then nervously chuckled, quickly shaking his head. "Flying lessons, huh? You want to teach me? It's going to be a while before I get off the ground again, but it's going to be interesting. If you want to teach me, I'd like that. I'll try my best. Though, I still don't like heights. I don't think I'm ever going to be able to get over that..."
He blinked as he watched Kitsumi bounce around, seeming a little worried at the female's behaviour. He now knew this seemed to be fairly normal for her, but it still took some getting used to.
"Sounds like you're a house-building expert already, Kitsumi." Phoenix chuckled. "Won't it need some walls though?"
"It's going to need a bunch of rooms too and a kitchen with storage cupboards." He continued, his gaze drifting into the distance as he thought hard. "Oh and a bedroom, I need somewhere warm to sleep at night. It also needs a bathroom, because well... going in the woods is just awkward."
He made an embarrased chuckling noise and scratched the left side of his head. The hair on the left side was quite scruffy now that it was messed up, but he didn't seem to notice.

Standing up on her hind legs, and wobbling, Kitsumi gave a shrug. "I know I know, but Edge-face is the KING of grumpy." She paused, as she caught a flash of a black cloak, and blue hair. "...WELL. Maybe the queen of grumpy. Saix holds the title of king." Edgeworth twitched at this. It was bad enough to be called grumpy, nevermind have a female rank as well.
Kalliope fluttered her wings as Phoenix spoke, grinning. "Don't worry, Mr. Wright." She assured him, "I'm a patient teacher. And that aside, You'll have to overcome your fear of flying and heights eventually. What if something happened like today? Or if someone looses their footing, starts falling down a cliff, and you just happen to be there?" She could have given him more scenarios. "The Mountains here are rather dangerous, and it's always good to be prepared, just in case." The angelic kit wagged her tails. "Does that motivate you at all?"
Flopping onto her back, Kitsumi stared up at the sky, nodding vigorously. "Right right, the wallllls...and the rooms. So a kitchen, a bedroom, a bathroom...and what else?" She furrowed her brow, rolling around in the grass. It was hard to tell whether she was really thinking about this, or playing, as the look on her face was s erious enough, but the fact she was rolling herself along the grass...
Edgeworth sighed, shaking his head. "It seems those of us who were former humans feel the same way." He paused, to eye Kitsumi. "Though I don't quite know how Kitsumi feels about it."
