Beira, Super Senshi of Loneliness
“I see,” he said, and sounded sympathetic. If he had more questions about the Mauvian world, he kept them to himself.
“I think it must be nice to have company. I think, despite all the coldness of my world, I would be sad to be away from it. I’m sorry to hear of your world. I hope someday you can regain that ability. If you want to. But I’m glad you have a space away from Earth. I like Destiny City, but sometimes it’s nice to get away. Places like this,” he nodded to the forest around him, “Just bring a peace and calm I don’t think I’ve ever known on Earth. I don’t know how to explain it.”
He hoped he didn’t have to, but offered an apologetic smile. “I’m sorry. I really have been looking for that jackalope. I don’t know where it’s gone off to. Just in case you were worried I wasn’t still taking this hunt seriously.”

Kaifeng, Squire of SaturnWaiting for Helene’s answer left Kaifeng a bit nervous. Not too much so. Regardless of what Helene thought about going back to his planet or somehow trying to restore it—trying to rid his homeworld of the Chaos that had infected it and trapped Helene in its grip for so long—Kaifeng trusted that Helene would understand.…… He trusted that Helene would know that Kaifeng only wanted to help and to share something with him, but that he would also accept answers like “No,” “Not yet,” and “I don’t know right now.”
Kaifeng did briefly look away, when he heard something around them rustle? But it wasn’t the jackalope, so he returned quickly to looking up at Helene.

Deep Space Sailor Helene
Kaifeng's question gave Helene pause. he had been content to wander, together, not really searching for the jackalope, since it seemed to prove far too elusive for amateur hunting. And while he had learned some skills in his centuries alone, he was not exactly keen to employ them, even in the services of a competition that was going to end with the animal still alive.
He was much happier, truth be told, to enjoy his time with Kaifeng, independent of any of that.
But, ah.
That question.
"It does, yes," he said. Which was not really an answer, he knew. And Kaifeng was only asking, he was sure, because Kaifeng loved his Wonder so much, and undoubtedly wanted to help Helene with his planet in any way he could. So, he took a breath.
"I...have spent much time considering going back. But I am not certain that it is something I am ready for. And I feel it would be...unfair, to endanger someone else--to endanger you--by taking you to my world when it is so volatile."
The thought of anything happening to Kaifeng because he wanted to help Helene with his world...it was unbearable. What if the disease that had ravaged his people still lurked--what if Kaifeng got sick?
A possibility too horrible to contemplate. It was still unclear to Helene exactly what had protected him, all these years--magic, or some intervention of his planet, perhaps--but he doubted such protection would extend to visitors.
"I know that I have survived this long for a reason. And that my world is my responsibility--that I must find a way to cleanse it. But I do not wish to risk your health or safety." He exhaled. "So it may be that it is my responsibility alone."
Not that he preferred such--given the opportunity, he would much rather share the burden with the person he loved, his zhiyin with whom he shared so many things. But this was...different. There were simply too many variable,s and too many of them would result in harm coming to Kaifeng. The idea of watching him waste away, the same way Helene had watched everyone he knew and loved die, slowly and in agony--no, it was simply not something he was willing to risk. No matter how much he wanted to find a way to save his home.

IllyriaTurning a little in Beira's arms, Illyria placed a gentle paw over the senshi's chest where the heart was hidden underneath before she gave the softest trill. She could definitely understand the sentiment behind Beira's words and it warmed her a little. She turned back to face the pathway before them and nodded softly before making a small sound of agreement.
"I can't say that it'll never happen that Mauvians will get the ability to return home but in the meantime besides the constant battle back on Earth ... it's not so bad. There's lots of interesting things that Earth has going for it. I'm sure your world is just the same Beira. Even if it doesn't seem that way."
Her whiskers twitched at his last admission and she fought the urge to chuckle, "I think we're both looking but we might be off on the wrong path at this current moment."

Emain Ablach, Squire of EarthJust as soon as they had caught sight of it, the jackalope had gotten out of view. Emain Ablach came to a stop and looked around left and right and even over his shoulder. “…Well, s**t.”

Imhotep, Page of Mercury ‘Well, s**t’ was right. Imhotep couldn’t see the jackalope anymore, either. He glanced to Promethei to see if he was having any better luck, but Imhotep was fully expecting all three of them to have lost the animal in the brush.

Promethei, Squire of MercuryWell, s**t was accurate to the feelings of his husbands husband and questionable relationship, but it wasn't accurate to Promethei. As Emain Ablach and Imhotep lost it, Promethei finally spotted what they were looking at. "There," he declared, attempting a quieter walk in its direction. Maybe not running at it might help.

Squire IrkallaAllowing herself a moment of rest wasn't really a bad idea, but when that moment grew into several moments ... that then grew into not wanting to get back up to continue hunting, that was when the Cosmos Squire grew irritated at herself. No way would she throw in the proverbial towel just yet. Irkalla's thoughts flicked to whether an old roommate would be just as obdurate in such an activity before sighing and getting back to her feet. "Time to move on once more," she muttered to herself.

Eternal Myrrha Hiding in a bush had its pros and cons. One of the pros was that she could ambush whatever it was that came by if it was the target quarry. However being poked constantly in the side by foreign branches and having leaves tickle any exposed skin was definitely a con. It just increased the irritation towards the jackalope. Would it even wander this way?
Time would tell. It was perhaps Myrrha's pure stubbornness that kept her in the bush at all.

Super MeissaKicking at a rock that was in her way Meissa glanced at the choice of paths that forked out from the one that she was on before staring down each one. Neither of them looked as foreboding at the choices that Belle's father once had to make but Meissa felt a similar amount of dread in the pit of her stomach as the fork in the road sort of echoed what was going to be happening fairly soon with her. Swallowing hard the senshi of bobcats progressed down the left pathway with her eyes keen for any sight of the creature everyone was hunting.
Left or right? Order or chaos?
Such simple choices in retrospect ... but grave consequences once choices were made.

Beira, Super Senshi of Loneliness
Beira glanced down when her little paw rested over his heart, and for some reason the gesture was more soothing than he could find words for. She was comfortable in his arms, and her presence washed over him with a pleasant calm.
“Thank you, Illyria. That’s a very kind sentiment. I won’t lose hope with my world. It’s just a daunting task.”
As he held her, he stroked down her back absentmindedly.
“Let me see if I can’t find a better viewpoint for us. I haven’t seen anything move in a while, so maybe I’m going in the completely wrong direction. Or, maybe it’s just figured out how to elude everyone.” He laughed, softly and good naturedly. There were still others looking so he was sure someone hadn’t caught it–yet.
They still had a chance.
“Maybe you’d like to come to my world sometime? I wish I could offer something other than winter blizzards, but the offer will always be open for you.”

Imhotep, Page of MercuryImhotep also followed Promethei’s direction, but also couldn’t find trace of where the jackalope had gone. “I wish we could slap it with an air tag or something,” muttered he.
