GenevieveShe really should have expected things to be more complicated than just running to an exit and out it - she should have. But perhaps in her panic, and trying to keep an eye on Christa, Genevieve hadn't thought and when the exit opened she went running...running right into a sticky web mess.
"Oh!" Oh god! The webs which had been covering the city....and if she had seen something moving...and the webs. "Christa! The spiders are here!" She called out while struggling to get free of the webs. Once she was free, nearly tripping over her own feet, the dark haired girl was moving towards Christa. "We need to keep together and find Jada. This isn't good." She also wanted to find her parents.
"I have a feeling the spiders no one has seen...are here." She said while her eyes, wide and dark blue, were glancing all about - looking for them.

Fritz St. James
There didn't need to be light for Fritz to see who had knocked into him.
He froze, an instinctive, automatic thing; the old, familiar buzzing sensation began to rise, a cacophony of sound around him, his fingers starting to tremble at the proximity of it all. The lack of preparation, the unexpectedness of sudden closeness; he could deal with things if he was mentally geared for them, but this was not one of those times.
Fritz sucked in a sharp breath that ached in his throat and tried to calm down. He was being shuffled through the crowd, Cordelia's presence a bright, silver thing in his thoughts, and every bump and press of someone close to him, every brush of physical contact was making the nausea rise.
He couldn't do this. He had to get out of here.
Dimly, he heard the voice of the young woman who had accompanied Cordelia before that voice too faded away into the chaos of sound. Outside, he drew in a deep lungful of air, letting the cold chill of it seep into his throat, and Fritz glanced around, trying to make sure that, in spite of everything, he hadn't lost Cordelia in the shuffle.
He hadn't. She was still there, and he was simultaneously grateful and embarrassed all at the same time, though it wasn't like she hadn't seen him during one of his attacks.
"Are you all right?" Fritz asked, inwardly relieved that there wasn't any tremor to his voice. "Do you know what's going on?"
His arm was stuck on a patch of webbing. Fritz tugged at it until it was free, moving to stand next to Cordelia without actually touching her, wincing as someone knocked into him from behind.

Adrien Davids
Outside, it was easier to see Yuuri's terrified face in the silvery light of the moon - and the ridiculous looking webbing that now stretched out around them. Adrien could deal with a lot of things, but spiders most definitely was not one of them, annoyance and an unwanted bit of terror tugging at his heart.
He clutched his boyfriend's hand a little tighter.
"Don't worry, darling," said Adrien, with more confidence than he felt. "We'll get out of here, quick as a fox. Trust me," he added, flashing Yuuri a reassuring grin. "And then we can go home and I'll give you a back massage or something, or we can watch that one movie again, the one with the rabbit and the fox, now that I'm thinking of foxes, what was it called, Zootopia or something like that?"
His mind, always moving fast, had already moved on to several other conversational topics that weren't really connected but somehow all led back to foxes.

Caspian Lyons-Gallo - stake acquired
"Okay, mister, you can't just give me the silent treatment."
Caspian would have dug in his heels and protested, had the lights not been out and the spiderwebs been everywhere, and Michael not carrying a giant stake that looked as though it could skewer someone. He did, however, tug on Michael's hand, Caspian's expression turning to a scowl.
"Hey. Michael Lyons-Gallo, turn around and talk to me," Caspian said, and yanked on the hand that Michael was currently holding, with no shortage of stubbornness creeping into his voice. There was another stake lying around, so he snatched one up as well.
"You can't just ignore me, you know."

Felix Smith - Dressed As Thor, has a Mewlnir (Eta) He would be a piss-poor Thor if he couldn't get himself out of a dark room. He would also be a piss-poor Thor if he couldn't extricate himself from a a series of half-torn through spider-webs, no matter how big they were. The fact was, many people had already gone through the webbing directly past the exit, so it really wasn't that difficult to navigate, the hardest part was to keep the sticky, itchy garbage from falling on his most precious Mauvian companion. But he managed, nose assaulted at one point by the scent of fire and weed, and ears assaulted by the sound of someone - he couldn't pin-point them, chiding someone. 'Hey. Michael Lyons-Gallo, turn around and talk to me,'. Felix kind of wondered who Micheal Lyons-Gallow was, why he was ignoring whomever the speaker was. But then, they were in a crisis situation, with spiders of an unusual size (which a lot of people didn't like, though Felix was fine with the normal ones), and he really didn't have time to worry about things that were absolutely none of his business. "Okay, we're clear. Those are some seriously huge webs..."

Richard BellIgnacio really didn't need to tell Richard twice; he was more than ready to go even before going had been suggested to him. Richard was just glad that Ignacio had also made it to the exit, and now it was time to see if the two of them could get through and beyond the door... while everyone else was doing the same thing. Richard reached instinctively for Ignacio's hand as he started for the door, only to be distracted by the webs they walked into. A shudder of revulsion immediately forced him to halt mid-step, batting urgently at himself to try and wipe the webs away. Whether it was due to normal spiders or not normal spiders, Richard didn't really stop to think about. A very existential panic took over him, pulse in his throat as he struggled. He needed to get to the lights beyond the webs, but the webs weren't making it easy on him. They caught in his hair, on his clothes, and his arms and legs kept tangling in some of the thicker knots of spider silk. His whole body felt like it was crawling, and he wasn't aware at first that the low-pitched hum of rising panic was coming from himself. His breathing was already quicker, and escape was narrowing rapidly into just getting away from the spider webs. He tried to power himself through the obstacle, a part of his brain that wasn't preoccupied with not being spider food realising that he'd lost sight of Ignacio again. He whipped his head around to look for him, but was swiftly punished for this impulsive act by a mouth full of more spider web. Spitting and sputtering, Richard threw himself wholeheartedly into just getting through the web, struggling through it and feeling it stick and drag at his skin, hair, and clothes. Even before he reached the other side, he paused often to brush at himself, feeling what he would swear was innumerable legs and tiny bodies scurrying all over him, whether they were actually there or not. His hair felt like it was crawling, and he half expected his glasses to be carried away for all the sheer amount of itching on his face from all the webs. As it was, it was a miracle he still had them on, that they hadn't been knocked off or lost yet in the scuffle of everyone trying to leave the building through the spider webs. Finally, he found himself emerging through the other side of the webs, breathing raggedly as he brushed off what he was sure were more spiders, more web. He wanted to jump in boiling acid to get the feel of it off of his skin, hands rubbing his upper arms even after the more reasonable side of his brain came back online and tried to reassure him that he was not still covered entirely in web. Just... mostly in web. He kept finding strands of the sticky stuff all over him, and he picked it off as he looked around for Ignacio. He should be fine, right? It... wasn't like there were giant spiders in there... right? Richard was pretty sure spiders didn't get to man-eating size, so... Ignacio should be right behind him, or ahead of him again... Right?

Jack Burnett (dressed as Disney's Peter Pan) has a metal stake
"Well, well! What have we here? Three undead miscreants getting themselves into trouble?" A grinning, red-headed teen darted up to the trio and, without bothering to ask if his assistance was required or even desired, immediately set to work in attempting to free the web-entangled young men. Jack himself had a few sticky strands still clinging to him, suggesting he had had a run-in of his own but had managed to free himself fairly quickly. "Sounds like fun. I hope whatever this is makes up for the maze. I was really looking forward to that, too."
As he worked, it became more and more apparent that the chipper newcomer was a motor mouth. "So from the names I heard being yelled over the commotion...you're Trey, and you're Rowan. That right?" he asked, looking to each costumed vampire in turn. Then he cast the final undead kid a funny smile. "Didn't hear yours, but I remember it well enough. Fancy meeting you here, Elex."

Ignacio ArayaBut why did it have to be spiders? Ignacio didn't have a phobia of spiders like some people did, but that didn't exactly mean he enjoyed spiders. They were fine. So long as they weren't near him. Or wrapping webs around him. Or getting him stuck in weird gigantic spiderwebs that probably shouldn't even have existed. What could have even made this spiderweb? It definitely wasn't a thousand tiny spiders. They would have noticed that. Of course, they should have definitely noticed one gigantic monster spider. Ignacio flailed haphazardly in an attempt to get the spiderweb off him, likely just making it worse in the process. The web was stubborn and was clinging on to him more like glue than a web, and it was causing him to mutter phrases he probably wouldn't have normally said around most children that weren't already contractually obligated to hear a script with those phrases in it -- though honestly, what script didn't have curse words in it, these days? It took a bit, but eventually he managed to peel every last bit of the spiderweb off, or at least as much as he could tell was on him. He'd probably be finding more of it in a week or so, like a persistent glitter. Finding Richard once more, he reached out and grabbed onto his hand. "This doesn't really seem like a maze," snarked Ignacio, stating the obvious.

Pandora Sagan - Dressed as Wonder Woman (MCU)
Pandora really enjoyed the Botanical Gardens. Any agency within the city that was trying to hold onto something good and pure - like flora - was precious to her, so while she tended to avoid interacting with the civilian population of Destiny City as much as possible when not powered up as Captain Moonstone, she made the effort.
Even so, she had absolutely no interest in putting on some garbage "sexy" costume, or some costume that was basically just "sexy" cultural appropriation; luckily Jack had taken her to see Wonder Woman when it came out and the idea of dressing up as the super heroine did bear some strong appeal, so she wasn't left with no options for costuming. Going as 'herself' was absolutely not an option, it was simply too difficult to be Pandora Sagan at large gatherings anymore.
Diana was a strong, independent woman, just as Pan was. A woman out of place and somewhat out of time - Pandora identified well with that. And so as the evening of the Botanical Garden event loomed, Pandora took the time to build her costume so that it would not only be well made, but also something that she could be certain would not fall apart if she had reason to fight in it. One never did know and there was a classic history that could not be ignored: Any time that there were large groups of civilians grouped together, invariably something happened. Sometimes it truly was as simple as say, human error causing a problem that affected the gathering in ways that ranged from negligible to god-tier Rube Goldbergian.
There was absolutely no way that she, as an intelligent member of the Negaverse, would attend any function, anywhere, without being at least moderately prepared to protect herself if need be. So Wonder Woman's costume was built with hardened panels, the shield built with inserts of thin, hammered metal to help deflect projectiles. It could be strapped to back easily for carriage when not in use; utility was imperative. Functionally, only Wonder Woman's 'lasso of truth' was the only piece that didn't work as intended. She had the rope, but it was mostly just a prop - a stretch of nylon cord that could be used to tie someone at best. Truth would have to be gotten by other, less braided means.
When the lights went out, she did not panic. There was no point. This was precisely what she had feared would happen. Although many seemed to crash into her as the evacuation was put into play, she made it out - and smack into cobwebs.
Rather, she got a face-full of cobweb that had been shoved aside by the passage of another person. There were many seeking routes away from the exit doors, each tearing through the massive webbing and making one hell of a mess. It would have been better to go in a line or small group, rather than tearing up large spaces...but absolutely. Go. Panic like wild animals. Churn up whatever is waiting out here for us. Pandora knew better. Webbing meant spiders, giant spiders probably meant youma - she wanted Wasgo, but there was no space to transform, it was to risky, even with all the webbing strewn about, all the panicky cows blundering this way and that.
Wiping the irritating web from her face, the Haida woman moved in a half crouch, alert for the creatures that had encased the building.

The group escaped the dark confines of the building, but it seemed as though they’d simply moved from one problem area to another. Outside was unfamiliar terrain, and anyone who knew anything abut this event would realize that they now had to get through the maze if they wanted to actually escape this area. The bushes were too thick to simply push through, but not thick enough to climb, so it seems like if anyone was planning on escaping, they were going to have to navigate through the maze. An examination of the area would yield no other alternative, although it is worth noticing that the Botanical Garden seemed to put as much work decorating outside as they had inside. Unfortunately, the cute Halloween decorations were hardly reassuring or endearing, considering the situation. Googly-eyed spider decorations watched with wide grins as the group made their way onto the damp grass just outside the maze’s entrance. They had only jumped one hurdle—they were about to find out what the real trouble was. Shadows moved from inside the room, and after the last members of the group broke through the web, strange shapes began to poke against the white thread. A low clicking sound and several hisses echoed from the darkness—and then, the spiders appeared. Giant spiders, easily the size of small cars, began to appear through the webs. Each eye was the size of a baseball and their fangs were easily the size of a steak knife—and it seemed, just as sharp. White foam frothed from their mouths as they examined crowd. It wasn’t clear how many spiders there were—but it was clear that they were hungry—and a human looked just as good as a fly. Maybe even better. After a few more clicks and hisses, the spiders suddenly simultaneously lunged at the crowd. Quote: Prepare to roll! – (Anyone who has a metal stake will automatically add +1 to whatever their roll is! You cannot pass off your metal stake to anyone else. Please remember to include that you have a metal stake and a +1 bonus at the top of your post!) The spiders are attacking! You have no choice but to defend yourself. The open area is far too dangerous; you need to make your way into the narrow maze to try and limit how much damage they can do to you! Remember, you should be focused on running, not attacking right now; if you attack any spiders it should be out of self defense and with intent to get into the maze! Quote: If you roll a 1-3 you make it into the maze but not without difficulties; you might have been slowed by the flow of the crowd or, more likely, a spider. You’ve managed to catch the attention of a hairy, eight legged monstrosity. It will try to hit you with its legs and may even try to bite you, but you manage to fend yourself off from too much damage. You may choose to be scratched, scraped or bruised, but you should not sustain more damage than that at this time! If you roll a 4-7 you manage to avoid the spiders and you make it into the maze with only some difficulties; you have been bumped and jostled by the crowd, and while a spider has come dangerously close to choosing you as its target, it wound up distracted by something (or someone) else. You may find yourself tripping over any of its eight legs, or inconvenienced by its body, but you manage to fend yourself off without too much difficulties! If you roll an 8-10 you manage to reach the maze with little difficulties! You wind up incredibly lucky; the spiders haven’t seemed to notice you at all! You sustain no damage and, if you do not already possess a metal stake, you manage to grab one from a crate before you make it to the entrance of the maze. If you already possess a metal stake, you do not gain an extra one. (You can only grab one in this post and if you choose to pick one up, please indicate in all future posts that you have retrieved a metal stake by including that information next to your character’s name at the top of your post!) Remember, there is no powering up during this event—it's simply too dangerous and you risk being seen! Even though it is dark now, you don’t know if the lights are going to flicker on and risk you outing yourself. You will have a little more than 24 hours to respond to this prompt before the next one, so act fast! This RP is still open to new posters (and will stay open for people to join!) but if you miss a prompt, your character will automatically be sorted into the lowest rolling tier and you will be expected to respond as if you rolled between a 1-3! There is no need to tally points; this is not a race! You simply need to respond to the prompts as they are posted. You can stick with a group; the dice rolls will only affect the severity at which your character is affected by prompts and will not ever force you to separate from your party.

Miles Fury
Okay. Okay. He was calmer. Happier. He could handle this like a reasonable teen-youth-adult...whatever the ******** you wanted to call someone his age.
He was still not cool with knowing giant ********' spiders were lurking, nor the rather...trippy looking decorations. But he was O.K. Until he saw the goddamn spiders with their massive eyes. They were the size of his sainted mother's Kia and that was just not okay. Nope. ******** that twice with a chainsaw. Nope. Nuh-uh.
Miles scrambled to his feet and then shoved-pulled-slipped his skippy a** into the one place that the spiders hadn't quite taken over yet: the maze. Except he knew in his heart of hearts he shouldn't go in there.
How did he know?
Because it's what a white girl in a horror movie would do. And that meant it was the Wrong Thing to Do. But it was too late, he was moving, he was stoned - he was going into that maze and holychristdidoneofthoselegstouchhim!?!?!?!?!!?!
With as much dignity as humanly possible, Miles screamed and booked it, all sense and logic flying out the window.

Arian Laith - dressed in jeans, polo neck and a sweater Saffron Laith - dressed as a witch - metal stake (+1)Whilst getting tangled up in the webbing wasn't particularly pleasant Arian wasn't particularly frightened of spiders - at least not generally - because after six years of living in Destiny City he knew that there were far worse than spiders out there. He kept quiet because whilst it was a truth that he knew and accepted, it was also one that Arian never wanted his cousin or boyfriend to have to come to terms with– And whilst Arian didn't have a problem with spiders per se, it didn't stop the size or the apparent sheer scale of the webbing from being troubling and nor did he particularly want to come face to face with the cause of it either. There were still people making their way out of the Reception Hall and Arian frowned slightly as he spotted a familiar curly-haired woman amongst them, a spider-webbed coated arm raising in a wave as he called out "Gigi over here!" He glanced at Anxo as he explained quietly "That lady is Gigi a good friend of mine" and then his gaze shifted to Saffron as he added "We used to go to Meadowview together." Saffron nodded "I remem..." she started, her voice trailing off at the sound of clicking and hisses coming from the direction of the Reception Hall and getting closer...
And then her face paled as the source of the sounds made an appearance, because they were easily the largest spiders that she had ever seen.
"We need to get to the maze" she yelled at Anxo and Arian, her brown eyes shifting to the woman that Arian had pointed out as she added "You too!" Because whilst entering the maze meant having to navigate it, it really did appear to be the only way forward.
And the spiders weren't exactly standing on ceremony as they revealed fangs that seemed to be more akin to steak knives and approached in lunges and a series of clicks and hisses.Arian nodded again knowing that his cousin was right, his hands reaching out to try and shove Anxo out of the way as a spider lunged in their direction, a leg crashing down where they had been standing as the spider continued to scuttle past them even as he caught Saffy making a run for the maze entrance. He followed, whilst trying his best to keep Anxo in sight and a part of him hoped that Gigi was also running too. ======================================= Briar Mackenzie - dressed as a vampire hunter "I don't think so" Briar admitted as he managed to finally extricate himself from the webbing - well at least for the main part - although it did nothing for the strands of the stuff that clung to hair, skin and clothes all.
A scrub of his face with the underside of his top managed to at least clear the worst of the stuff from his face and whilst it didn't do anything for the stuff in his hair or clothes at least he had cleared enough to be able to see–
And Kirra appeared to have managed to get through the webbing without too much trouble too.
He looked around trying surreptitiously to see if he could spot his brother amongst those still emerging from the hall and had been about to ask Kirra if she had come with anyone, but the question died unasked at the sudden sound of clicking, his reddish eyes turning towards the Reception Hall in time to see the first spider appear–
Except there wasn't just one spider and none of them were exactly of the garden variety.
For a moment Briar thought he saw Peter as he glanced towards the maze, but there wasn't any time to make sure because some of the spiders chose that moment to charge in their direction in a series of hisses and clicks.
"Kirra we've got to get to the maze" he said as pointed towards the entrance for a moment before trying to give her a small push to put her ahead of him.
The maze would at least give them a chance to try and catch their breath and perhaps give him time to try and think up something...
And if that had been Peter then maybe he and Kirra could try and catch up to him there.

Rowan Cameron (Vamp) He heard Trey over the noise. Turning his head int eh direction it came from he sighed in relief. Somehow he had just missed his brother who had gotten mixed up in the kerfuffle of bodies. "Keep close." He admonished his elder brother from afar, but Trey was certainly close enough that Rowan could keep an eye on him. Assuming, of course, Trey didn't wander off again.
His attention swiftly returned to Elex who had opted to try and push away from Rowan in an attempt to free them from the snare of the webs. It was slow going, and the boy only has so much of a wingspan. When it was clear that it was working, if slowly, Rowan carefully reached out to grab Elex's shoulders and push on his own. The combined strength of the two boys finally saw the last of the web snap between them.
And then, another teen appeared. This one running his mouth a mile a minute while Rowan did his best to try and free his hair of the sticky substance. The purple locks were well engulfed by the web and Rowan was none-too-happy at the fact that he couldn't get it out, not without fear of pulling out his own hair with it.
Turning on the red-head, Rowan looked exasperated. "I don't know who you are, but really, this isn't the time to be trading pleasantries." He huffed while noting that the teen was, for the most part, web free.
Turning to Elex, who apparently knew this newcomer, Rowan raised a brow at him. Curious. I feel as if Elex would keep better company.
Something off to his right caught his attention and immediately eyes widened when he realized what it was. Without wasting a moment, he grabbed Elex's hand and moved to drag him to Trey. As he turned he found yet another spider between him and his brother. It's beady eyes felt as if they were staring Rowan down. It leapt towards him and...went after a woman who was running past him.
He didn't waste a second glance at her as he hurried his way to Trey just as a spider was heading for him. "Watch out!" He yelled.
Kitomyx He's a bit stressed and arrogant and....yea...hi! Welcome! <3
