So much for that theory. Fritz didn't manage a very high score, but Kail took the single ticket, turning and striding out while smoking his cigarette. They really weren't having very much luck... was this thing rigged or something? The best turnout seemed to have been when he let his pokemon take care of everything, but, now that he thought about it, he wasn't actually sure how many games they had played to get that much. He sighed, exhaling the smoke and looking around. Oh well. Even if they got poor turn out, the only thingthey could do was keep trying.

Darren watched Jin intently as he explained and demonstrated how to properly balance the marble, and what not to do as well, noting the difference by practicing with his still closed bottle. "Huh.... So have you had this drink before? Or are you just good at balancing?" Darren asked with a chuckle. "Hey Sable, do you think mine's safe enough to drink yet?" He inquired, though Sable seemed to have her attention directed to a building at the base of the volcano, asking if they might want to soak in the hot springs after their hike. "Yeah! That'd probably be a nice relief for our muscles after all that walking. I'd definitely be interested~" He smiled at the thought of the relaxing steam and hot water on his toes. Heck, if he weren't so eager to go exploring the volcano, Darren would have wanted to take a dip in the hot springs now.
Flynn tilted his head at the idea of a hot spring. It seemed like a really odd combination, fire to fuel and heat up water... He might like something of that sort, but he was sort of nervous about his tail getting wet. After all, water was water, even if it was hot. Jin seemed somewhat nervous as well, though Darren couldn't see why he would be, but the disguised Zorua eventually got his usual grin back of his face, agreeing that it would be nice after their hike. "Seems we're all in agreement then~" Darren nodded, scooping Flynn up onto his shoulder and smiling at the Charmander. "And I'm sure we can find some alternative for you buddy. There's probably a place where it's all steam and no water." He reassured Flynn, who seemed happy with the idea of basking in hot air.
Meanwhile, back at the arcade tent, Bolt was aiming to beat his high score again, and came farther than last time, but still not close enough. It still earned him seven tickets to pocket. Maybe next time he would do it, but until then he was satisfied with his pile of tickets.

Finishing off a rather terrible turn of luck with another terrible go at the wheel of fortune, Kail couldn't help but be a bit irritated. Luckily, the nicotine helped mellow him out... but he was getting some dirty glares for smoking. He rolled his eyes, but put the cigarette out, tossing it away and counting his tickets. Definitely not a very good turnout... Good thing he was just doing this to get an item or two. He already had over one hundred tickets,t oo, so... if he could just keep the pace, he should be able to get one or two things, depending on what caught his fancey. Speaking of... he'd have to take a look at the prize booth sometime.

It was back to fishing for the group of Pokemon, although this time it was Oaken that gave it a go. The oddly-colored Servine honed in on a tiny Gorebyss swimming around. The grass starter wasn't fast enough, though, and the paper for the net ended up dissolving before he could scoop up the Pokemon. The Servine pouted a bit as he took his ticket, then decided to hunt for a different game to play.
Jin grinned a bit at Darren's questions."A bit of both, but I haven't had one of these in years. I think the last time was when I was with my-"he started excitedly, then cut himself off as he became rather crestfallen. Part of it was that he almost slipped up on what he said, but the other part was a bit more personal."...When I was traveling with someone else."The disguised Zorua sounded more than a little sad at that statement, but he finished off the rest of the soda so that he'd have a bit of time before having to talk again.
"Probably. As long as you haven't been shaking it too much,"Sable had responded to Darren's question, then she listened quietly as something seemed to bother Jin. She was willing to bet the someone else he had traveled with was another trainer, although that made Sable wonder for a bit exactly how many other trainers Jin had before deciding to hang around her. There was another thought that went along with it, but that one got pushed to the side as Darren and his Charmander also agreed on the idea of a nice soak after their hike."Then let's go! The sooner we get to exploring, the sooner we get to soak~"she called out cheerfully as she sprinted ahead to where the volcano part of the hike actually started.
Jin got dragged out of his gloom again when he saw that his trainer was hurrying on ahead of them."Oi! No fair! Get back here, sis!"he called out as he chased after the teen. He didn't run quite as fast as her, though. Not because he wasn't able to, far from it! He just knew better than to waste all his stamina now when he had a long hike ahead of him. Still, at least the run was good for getting his mood back in order. Kind of hard to dwell on the past when you're trying to chase down your own trainer.

Heheheh, I'd imagine that, for however long they end up traveling together, it's gonna be hard to separate the two. XD And that'd only be because either Honey's battling or she's trying to hug someone else.
Darren frowned somewhat as Jin thought of the last time he'd had a drink like this, seeming to grow sad as he thought of someone else he used to travel with. Darren was curious, but he knew better than to push this subject. He left it alone and turned to ask Sable if she thought he could open the soda now, and she agreed as long as he hadn't been shaking it around. "Alright, well then here goes..." Darren opened the bottle and began to attempt and follow Jin's instructions to take a drink of the fizzy liquid. Jin was pretty upset by Sable running off again, yelling at her to get back. Darren simply laughed and ran past him to chase after Sable. "Haha! Catch up or get left behind!" He called back with a laugh.
Bolt ran off to try the ring toss but only managed to land one ring and earn two tickets.

The Beedrill decided to try out the ring toss next, but failed to even get one ring around the bottles. She still took her two tickets with pride, though, and went off with Oaken and Rose to find a different game to play. There were lots of booths to investigate so it wasn't like they didn't have options. Plenty of opportunities for fun.
What had started as a solemn march had finally degraded into a full-on race as Sable, Jin, and Darren made their way to the mountain. Jin looked downright flabbergasted that he was suddenly passed by Darren and soon got a competitive expression on his face."Oi! I'll show you who gets left behind!"he shouted before sprinting to catch up with and pass the teen, although it'd be more difficult to catch up to Sable since she had a head start. He knew he'd regret it later but at the moment, he didn't care. He just didn't want to be in last place. And since Sable still had a good lead for the moment, that meant he at least needed to outpace Darren.
Sable didn't bother looking back as she continued to run towards the base of the volcano. For one, it'd slow her down, and for another, she knew that with her luck, she'd probably trip over a rock or something. Not that seeing what was in front of her helped with that, as she did precisely that and ended up falling onto the dirt as a result. It hurt, but she acted like she didn't care and got up to start sprinting again. It did make her lose her the majority of lead, though, and while she was still in front, she barely got moving before Jin and Darren passed her.
"Oh no you don't!"the teen growled competitively as she dashed off to try and retake her lead, although she was getting winded from all the sprinting and started to slow down. By the time the trio reached the base of the volcano, Sable had ended up in either second or third place depending on how well Darren did with the running. Jin managed to scrape out a good spot, possibly even first, since he had his stamina as a Pokemon to power him through all that running."...I... I think... I'm gonna... Gonna sit..."Sable managed to force out between gasps for air before plopping down on the side of the path so that she could rest and catch her breath for a bit.

Eventually the group settled on a dart toss game for their next attempt. Rose and Oaken did pretty poorly due to awkward handling but, thanks to being allowed to use her Poison Sting attack, Sable's Beedrill did an amazing job by popping all ten balloons. She buzzed happily as the booth attendant tucked six more tickets into her basked, then flew off to try and find another game to try. She was really having fun with all these games.

Rose held on tight as Marx had run off to the docks, remaining on his back even when they got off on One Island. "Wow! Did they put games and stuff on ALL the islands?!?" Rose exclaimed, looking around from the vantage point that was Marx's back. She leaned over his shoulders as she looked around. The Flurry, not willing to lose this interesting girl, had followed when they suddenly went off to a different island, though it was less cool there.
Fynx snorted a bit with laughter as Flygon nudged at the egg, then made grabbly hands at it. After the boat ride, the Delphox looked to the dragon. After some thought, she couldn't really see any harm in letting the Flygon hold the egg. But then again, it wasn't her egg to hand over. "If you are careful, maybe you can hold it." Fynx told the dragon, though was starting to wonder how much she might understand. Or rather, how she'd even know if the other pokemon had understood; so far, Flygon's language had kind of stumped her.

Sable's Beedrill made more than a few disappointed noises as she was shooed out from the tent of arcade games. Apparently people weren't comfortable with the idea of a giant bee playing games near them. So, she, Rose, and Oaken ended up making an agreement. They'd win her some tickets from the arcade game this time around and she'd let them have the tickets for spinning the wheel. They might have all been Sable's Pokemon, but they thought it was funny that Sable and Jin were keeping their tickets separate and figured they might as well give the Zorua a chance at keeping up. Rose and Oaken ended up doing almost as well as last time and earned a nice set of seven tickets to tuck inside the Beedrill's basket.
