Awesome! ^^
I've been playing flute for five years, but I have yet to try playing on a piccolo. I hear that's it's incredibly difficult.

Lyrically Adagio Private lessons seem like a worthwhile investment. Unfortunately, there is absolutely nowhere to take them around the area where I live, so I have to settle for teaching myself and while it gives one a feeling of satisfaction, being self-taught is not the same as knowing you have earned the respect of a venerable professional. Does that make sense to anybody else, or am I weird?
As for majoring in music, I had been so sure since the fourth grade that music is my calling, but after choking at so many auditions in recent times, I am honestly debating whether I want to do it anymore. Stage fright really blows, pun not intentional; I know that I am an excellent flautist, but because my nerves get the better of me, nobody else does. :/
I know exactly what you mean... During my senior year of high school when I had so many college auditions I choked and screwed up my scales and my solo's so pathetically.. I remember at one of my auditions, and it was for the school I wanted to go to the most, you couldn't even tell my chromatic was a supposd ot be a chromatic scale..
I had thought I wanted to major in music performance, but then I swithced to Computer Engineering, and now I'm a Child Psychological Development major. I'm still interested in music though.. My director asked me yesterday when I went up to the band hall why I wasn't majoring in music and my response was pretty simple "Cause I can play when I'm by myself and no one is around. Otherwise, it's just a big heaping jumpled mess of half attempted notes."

hello I'm new to this guild. I've been playing the flute for 3yr. I took private lessons my second, but for only half the year. My lesson teacher was so intimadating, and my mother thought i was getting nowhere with her so I quit. Now that I'm in high school I'm in the guard for marching season and playing the flute for concert. I'm probably going to have to take lessons again, but the problem is that Mrs. Dunn is the only flute teacher!

hey i'm a flutist too! ^_^ I have been playing for 1,2,3...5! years this sept. woohoo! flute completely rox my sox off! both of my section leaders have officially graduated crying *I prefer them to the new ones* although I do prefer marching band to symphonic I am in both, symph. does get kind of tedious towards concerts and parades, my section so far consists of all girls don't know if there are any guys coming in with the incoming freshman this year...

I'll have been playing flute for 5 years this October, and I absolutely love it :3 It's a wonderful instrument that you can do a lot of things with XD I also play piccolo, and have been doing so for about a year and a half.
Anyone out there who has a wooden flute: I am extremely jealous of you XD

I mean, I like the piccilo and it's smallness and high pitched-ness, but getting the cool high pitched notes out is hard. And I like that it has the same fingerings as the flute. That makes it much easier to keep switching instruments.

AHHH!!! Surrounded by flutists!!!! *hides* you guys are so cool, yet so evil....or at least around where im from you are. I wish i were a flutist...I don't fit the steriotype though even in my own mb so it would be weird.(in our band all the instrument steriotypes are actually true for every single player. it's kindof funny xD) i love my french horn though so im happy just playing flute as a side instrument.
