Either I am blind and didn't read the board right, or there are no flute topics. I saw other instrument topics so I thought I'd make one too. Um flute players, any of out there?
Today was our first day of school and my first day playing with a different band. I was different, probably 'cause most the class forgot their instruments. sweatdrop We played pep band music, and I felt weird, 'cause the other two flutes were organizing stuff . . . But enough of my ranting, please, come talk!!

Yay!! Flutes!! blaugh I'm happy, the flutes in my band are all either really snooty, or really cool but in a different band. (GRRR, foolish friends, switching to the other band.) It makes me crying But now I am happy!! biggrin So, whaddya want to chat about?

I'm a flutist, too, though I prefer the trombone. ^^;; Sorry!
Keltzy, all the flutists in my band are snooty, too. XD They're either pretty asians with boyfriends or guys that are presumed gay. confused

In our band, we tend to have what I call 'flute wars.' Generally, it's over seating. But, being the senior senior section leader (I have one year of experience over the others) they listen. Sort of. They don't like me, though.

Luckily the low instruments don't have wars. They'd be deadly. n_n; We're just one big happy family! surprised
I have a seating test tomorrow. Wish me luck.
I wish I owned my own flute. They're spiffy little things to play, aren't they? whee I liked it 'cause you could just pop 'em out any time you wanted to play. Trombones, on the other hand... well, they don't "pop." confused

I have to work really hard on my chair test. I have a strong urge to get first chair. Foolish section leader, making marching miserable for me!! She's more tolerable in concert band it would seem, but then she did make my piccy/flute friend cry once (or at least really upset). She told her after the concert that she was really flat the whole time. I fear the same will happen to me. I'm scared of the good band, I don't wanna make them sound bad. gonk It won't be as bad if I get section leader though.

I play flute! I've been playing for six years. I haven't played it recently though because we've been doing pep band stuff, and I switched to sax for pep/jazz band. I'll still be on flute for concert band though - I could never abandon my flute! *hugs it* I want to go professional on it, so.... ^^

Hullo, due to lack of school enthusiasm and low input from the middle school, I'm the only Flautist in my band at the moment. Even though I'm marching Picc right now. I just checked out an Open-Holed to practice my song for Solo and Ensemble this year.

I just checked out an Open-Holed to practice my song for Solo and Ensemble this year. I'd rather be the only one in the band than one out of twenty, like I am now. Gah. -_-;; And nine of them are in my class. (Except right now, I'm on tenor... there's only two of us! ^^) I hate it. Lots of little sophomore kids. x_x

Last year I was section leader in my band, and considering 3/4 of the flutes in wind ensemble came from my band last year, I should be second chair. Miss prissy 'though is buddy buddy with one of the other flutes, so she stuck me as temporary 3rd chair. I moved to this band to escape easy parts, not to be stuck with more of them. But I managed to actually play in tune for the first time in my life. Yay!!

yea!!!a flute section... i was wondering if there wasn't any flutes or no one cared to put one up... i was going to but i didn't know how well it would take due to me being new to this guild... but flute is my love... actually i love piccolo a little more than flute just because it annoys people soo much...but still flute or a piccolo...
